Zheng Yao is forced to bring home a girl from the remote countryside.
Although she is already eighteen, the girl is small, thin, and delicate. Her fairy-like face is hidden only by unfashionable clothes and a timid demeanor.
Zheng Yao has lived alone for years. Now she suddenly has to share her life with a stranger who is five years younger. They must live together for several months, until the college entrance exams are over, before she can send the girl away.
Fortunately, the girl is very aware of her place as a guest. She never causes trouble. Every day she calls her “sister” in the sweetest voice, cooks, cleans, studies, and behaves perfectly. It is as if the words obedient and sensible are written across her face.
But the way she looks at Zheng Yao begins to change.
Sometimes when Zheng Yao loses her temper, the girl holds her hand with deep concern and says,
“Sister, you can hit me if it helps. Please do not hurt yourself with anger.”
She looks so pitiful that Zheng Yao cannot help but worry about her. What if this poor little thing gets cast out and is deceived or bullied? So, Zheng Yao sternly reminds her,
“Someone who truly loves you will never be willing to hit you. Do you understand?”
The girl’s face suddenly shines with joy. She replies softly,
“So, sister cannot bear to hit me.”
Zheng Yao is stunned. That was not what she meant.
Shen Baiyi may misunderstand everything, but her eyes are bright and her words are sweet. Before long, Zheng Yao finds herself completely trapped in her charms.
Even when she notices small hints, she convinces herself otherwise.
Until one night. Half asleep, she opens her eyes to see Shen Baiyi gazing at her with an intense look. Her lips are red and wet, yet her smile remains sweet.
“Sister, do you want to taste how sweet my lips are?”
Zheng Yao is shaken. Where did it all go wrong? What happened to the fragile and obedient little darling she thought she knew?
