Synopsis

This is a sweet short story, but the main plot starts not as a sweet short story! It only becomes one after chapter 15!

When he was in his second year of police academy, a girl he didn’t know at all began appearing in his dreams.

She would first stare at him blankly, then, after she came to her senses, she’d excitedly circle him and cup her face in her hands: “Kenji, I love you!”

Kenji would wake up completely bewildered.

Who is this girl? Why does she know my name? And why does she like me?

Every night, he would dream of her.

“Kenji, can I kiss you?”

“Kenji, let’s get married.”

“Yeah, yeah, when I wake up, I’ll go marry you.”

Kenji would always answer so casually. After all, she was just someone in a dream.

Later, after he joined the police force and was promoted to captain, the girl suddenly disappeared from his dreams. Feeling annoyed and frustrated, he was on his way to work when he passed through Beika Street. There, across the road, he saw the girl who used to grab him and confess her love—and she was on a date with another guy.

Fuming, Kenji jaywalked across the street. “Didn’t you say you liked me the most?! Who is he?!”

The girl: “?”

The girl: “Who the heck is this cosplayer? Holy crap, it’s like he walked right out of the anime.”
