The Five Heartless Scumbag Alphas Turned Against Each Other Because Of Me - Chapter 19
Zheng Jinyu’s heart skipped a beat. She didn’t know why Tan Hua said that, but now that she was no longer dragging Cheng Yuan into her words, Zheng Jinyu couldn’t help but breathe a small sigh of relief.
She didn’t quite understand why she kept getting involved in Tan Hua’s affairs again and again. But every time she saw what Tan Hua was doing or going through, she just couldn’t look away or remain indifferent.
Back when Tan Hua was with her, she used to manage her in the same way. So even now—despite the divorce—Zheng Jinyu found it hard to shake off the habits she’d formed over time.
That was the excuse she gave herself for her abnormal concern.
Still, Zheng Jinyu couldn’t deny a certain irritation growing inside her because of Tan Hua’s unpredictability.
Her eyes subtly drifted toward the passenger seat, where the beautiful Omega sat. For some reason, Tan Hua now seemed like a completely different person—aloof, indifferent, distant… and untouchable.
Zheng Jinyu’s thoughts drifted further than she expected.
She remembered the first time she met Tan Hua. The girl had tried so hard to appear serious, obedient, even a bit stiff—yet the greed and ambition in her eyes had already betrayed her.
Zheng Jinyu didn’t usually like Omegas who were two-faced. But for some reason, that day, she made an exception.
Maybe it was the worn, washed-out clothes Tan Hua had been wearing—old, clearly not new. They stirred a strange softness in Zheng Jinyu’s heart. After all, with that face so eerily similar to Cheng Yuan’s, watching her live in such misery was unsettling.
It made Zheng Jinyu feel like Cheng Yuan herself was the one suffering.
She remembered how Tan Hua had accepted her offer almost immediately, without the slightest hesitation. In her eyes, there had been no gratitude—only an endless, naked desire.
Zheng Jinyu had regretted it at first. But after some thought, she decided that raising an Omega wouldn’t cost her much anyway, so she let it go.
Omegas could be greedy. They could have ulterior motives. As long as they were obedient and well-behaved in front of her, that was enough.
Back then, Zheng Jinyu had even mocked herself:
I’m keeping company with wolves, blind to danger.
Still, she had confidence.
Someone like Tan Hua—eager for money, without any real background—could never stir up real trouble while under her control.
Meanwhile, Tan Hua was casually scrolling through her phone during the whole ride. Notifications kept pinging, one after another, and the sound repeatedly drew Zheng Jinyu’s glance. She tried to ignore it, but in the end, she couldn’t hold back.
“Who are you chatting with?” she asked.
Tan Hua glanced over with a bright, innocent smile.
Zheng Jinyu knew she was overstepping. But she couldn’t help it.
“Lu Huaixu?” she asked.
“No.”
For some reason—maybe it was just Zheng Jinyu’s imagination—but Tan Hua’s gaze felt… different. She couldn’t describe it, but every cell in her body, every part of her feminine intuition told her something was off.
“Then who?” Zheng Jinyu pressed on, unwilling to let it go.
This time, Tan Hua looked at her for several long seconds, her expression unreadable. “President Zheng, that’s my personal business.”
With that, she dropped the topic and turned away, leaving Zheng Jinyu staring at her, dazed.
A faint unease rose steadily in her chest—slow, silent, but impossible to ignore.
“Host…”
Even the system found Zheng Jinyu’s behavior rather irrational. It couldn’t help but ask, “Did you drug her or something?”
“Tongbao,” Tan Hua replied shamelessly, “I appreciate your faith in my charm.”
She grinned. “But I’m sorry to tell you—there’s no such thing as a love potion in this world.”
“Then why is Zheng Jinyu acting like this…”
Back in the day, she had gone out of her way to avoid the original host—borderline disgusted by her. The system simply couldn’t understand it.
“What else could it be?” Tan Hua smirked. “Just typical Alpha possessiveness.”
“Even though we’re divorced, in the mind of an Alpha with a strong sense of ownership, I still belong to her.”
She paused, then added with deliberate slowness, “A personal possession.”
“And now that her property is treating her with indifference, acting hot and cold—how could she possibly tolerate that?”
Tan Hua flicked her hair with calculated elegance. “Besides, I’m being ambiguous with another Alpha right in front of her. Even if nothing has actually happened between Lu Huaixu and me, what Alpha could stand seeing their Omega entangled with someone else?”
“In fact,” she added with a faint pout, “I think Zheng Jinyu’s reaction is a little too calm and rational. Honestly, it’s a bit disappointing.”
Then, her tone shifted slightly, laced with a barely concealed excitement:
“I can’t help but wonder—what would a graceful, gentle woman like her look like… completely out of control?”
System: “…”
It knew it should never have brought this up.
Glancing at Zheng Jinyu, still quietly wrestling with her own tangled emotions, the system muttered to itself,
Let’s just hope she keeps being this dumb.
Because the day Zheng Jinyu wakes up and sees things clearly—she’ll already be wrapped so tightly around Tan Hua’s finger that there’ll be no way out.
Meanwhile, Zheng Jinyu was drowning in the undercurrent of emotions she couldn’t name. Her mind was in chaos. She gripped the steering wheel tighter, wanting to ask Tan Hua something—anything—but was once again stung by the Omega’s aloofness.
She hesitated. Her face—normally gentle, composed—was now tense and rigid. She looked nothing like her usual calm, composed self.
The car was silent. Unbearably silent.
Zheng Jinyu felt like she was being suffocated by the stillness. She closed her eyes, and when she opened them again, she heard herself—sounding unusually desperate—ask:
“In your heart… do you even consider us friends?”
She held her breath.
Her heart pounded wildly. It had been so long since she last felt this nervous. The sensation was unfamiliar, almost foreign, and yet somehow… thrilling.
Tan Hua’s fingers paused on the screen. She put down her phone and turned to look at Zheng Jinyu.
She wanted to ask what kind of answer Zheng Jinyu was hoping for—but the system quickly flashed a warning. So instead, she smiled—charming, effortless, with that captivating glint in her eye.
“Of course we’re friends.”
“Why would you think you weren’t?”
Zheng Jinyu opened her mouth but couldn’t speak. She had wanted to say it was just a feeling—but even to her, that sounded absurd. So, she gave an awkward smile and latched onto a different thread, unwilling to let the matter drop.
“Employers like Lu Huaixu…” She hesitated.
“Do you have a lot of them?”
