The Five Heartless Scumbag Alphas Turned Against Each Other Because Of Me - Chapter 27.1
“Pregnant? Are you confused or something?”
Tan Hua was completely baffled. She couldn’t help but ask Zheng Jinyu, “Did you mishear me or something?”
Holding back a deep breath, she stared at Zheng Jinyu with clear irritation. I’m still a virgin—how could I possibly be pregnant?
Seriously, she didn’t even hear things properly and still dares to accuse me?
The Omega refused to admit anything, as if the conversation between Tan Hua and Lu Huaixu moments ago had never even happened.
Zheng Jinyu let out a quiet laugh, but there was a trace of bitterness in her smile. “Is that so?”
“Of course it is,” Tan Hua replied, finding Zheng Jinyu’s pained expression completely unreasonable.
And to make matters worse, she was annoyed that Zheng Jinyu had interrupted her chat with Lu Huaixu—one that had been skirting dangerously close to flirting. Her tone turned colder. “Why are you here?”
“Weren’t you busy?” she added. Zheng Jinyu had rushed off just moments ago like she couldn’t wait to get away—as if being seen with Tan Hua would cause a scandal. And now she was suddenly back, unbothered?
Tan Hua scoffed under her breath, narrowing her eyes as she gave Zheng Jinyu a once-over. So self-righteous.
Zheng Jinyu saw every bit of Tan Hua’s attitude and took it in fully. She knew Lu Huaixu was here too, but she couldn’t stop herself. She desperately wanted to know what the Omega had been doing, what they’d said—especially when it came to Lu Huaixu.
Her dark eyes locked onto Tan Hua, and a single thought played over and over in her mind: Are they really that close now?
When did this start? One month ago? Two? Maybe even earlier?
After all, it had only been two months since she and Tan Hua had gotten divorced.
Zheng Jinyu felt a surge of bitterness—like a thorn in her heart—but she couldn’t be sure. Her chest tightened painfully as she stared at the two of them together, Tan Hua linking arms with Lu Huaixu like it was the most natural thing in the world. Her lips pressed tightly into a thin line.
“Just passing by,” Zheng Jinyu said, eyes still fixed on her. Then, shifting the topic slightly and testing the waters, she added, “Weren’t you supposed to be resting in your room?”
“I did rest,” Tan Hua replied nonchalantly. “I just came out for some fresh air.”
She gave Zheng Jinyu a curious glance, then gently pulled Lu Huaixu to the side to make way. “If you’ve got something else to do, you should go take care of it.”
Zheng Jinyu froze for a second, her fingernails digging sharply into her palm.
She forced a calm smile. “I’m not busy.”
But Tan Hua picked up something in her tone—something tight, like she was gritting her teeth. That startled her for a moment, and she instinctively stepped back, half hiding behind Lu Huaixu.
“I thought Zheng Jinyu had more backbone,” she muttered under her breath. The system zapped her with a light jolt in response, but she ignored it and continued, “Didn’t expect her to break down so quickly after just two or three days.”
She rolled her eyes, thinking out loud, “But I guess it makes sense. If I’d just divorced my lovely little wife and then watched her flirt with another Alpha right in front of me… yeah, I’d probably lose it too.”
The system, utterly exasperated: “…Please shut up.”
“I did have something to do,” Zheng Jinyu suddenly said, her voice calm and her smile gentle. “But those plans just changed.”
Zheng Jinyu had a beautiful smile. She was striking to begin with—her features soft yet bright. Whether she wore heavy makeup or none at all, she exuded charm. With full makeup, she looked elegant and regal; with a bare face, she radiated quiet grace. Her poise and maturity had an irresistible appeal.
But now, that graceful smile on her face felt like a warning—so out of place it made Tan Hua’s heart skip a beat.
Tan Hua stepped even further behind Lu Huaixu, whispering in a lowered voice, “President Lu, you have to protect me.”
Clutching Lu Huaixu’s sleeve, she added, “I’m scared.”
She hadn’t really lowered her voice much at all. Her obvious desire to avoid Zheng Jinyu, her unguarded trust in Lu Huaixu—it was all too much. Every little movement pierced through Zheng Jinyu like needles in her eyes.
She could feel her heart pounding, her chest tightening with a storm of emotions—fury, jealousy, and something else she couldn’t even name.
Tan Hua was supposed to be the one hiding behind her.
But now, she was hiding behind Lu Huaixu.
Just how close are they? Zheng Jinyu couldn’t stop her thoughts. Have they already become that intimate? How far have they gone?
And the worst part?
No matter what the truth was… she wasn’t sure she could handle it.
As soon as Lu Huaixu saw Zheng Jinyu’s expression—like she was on the verge of exploding but holding it in—she instantly realized something was off between the two.
Lowering her gaze, Lu Huaixu glanced slowly at Tan Hua. When she saw the Omega flash a flirty, overly sweet smile in return, she lifted her eyes again with deliberate calm and curled her lips into a faint smile.
“How about we all sit together?” she asked lightly.
Tan Hua froze. “What?!”
No way!
She screamed internally, her body instinctively giving a visible shiver—hoping to play up her supposed fear of Zheng Jinyu. If she looked scared enough, maybe Lu Huaixu would drop the idea of inviting her along.
But to her horror, Lu Huaixu’s interest only deepened as she watched Tan Hua suddenly tremble like a leaf.
“Well, there’s nothing urgent going on,” she said with a slow, knowing smile. “Why don’t we sit and chat a bit?”
Then she added meaningfully, “It’s been a while since we last caught up, after all.”
Tan Hua was absolutely stunned. Her fake trembling stopped immediately.
She fought the urge to roll her eyes. Is 119 pounds of Lu Huaixu’s 120-pound body made entirely of rebelliousness?
Does she not care whether I live or die?
The system, nearly laughing from how her plan had backfired so completely, said, “Maybe your performance was just too unnatural, and that made Lu Huaixu suspicious. Now she wants to dig deeper?”
Zheng Jinyu instinctively glanced at Tan Hua’s face, trying to read her expression. When she caught the unmistakable look of frustration and defeat, her mood immediately improved.
With a slight smile, she replied to Lu Huaixu—but kept her eyes locked firmly on Tan Hua. “Sure.”
Zheng Jinyu’s gaze was so openly fixated on Tan Hua that even Lu Huaixu’s eyes flickered with something unreadable for a second. But her tone remained casual, as if she were asking about the weather.
“You two seem close?” she asked Zheng Jinyu.
“Mhm,” Zheng Jinyu replied.
“No, we’re not!” Tan Hua blurted out at the same time—her voice louder, overlapping Zheng Jinyu’s softer tone.
The urgency in her denial only made Lu Huaixu more suspicious.
Her expression didn’t change, but the faintly amused look in her eyes swept over to Tan Hua. “So… are you close, or not?”
“Not close,” Zheng Jinyu said flatly.
“Close,” Tan Hua said at the exact same time.
Their answers clashed again.
Tan Hua shot Zheng Jinyu a glare. You’re doing this on purpose, aren’t you?!
The Omega looked both angry and flustered, her eyes wide and round with irritation, her lips pouting in frustration—like a bristling little cat ready to pounce.
Zheng Jinyu had no doubt: if Lu Huaixu weren’t here, Tan Hua would have already jumped at her and scratched her face like a furious kitten.
She chuckled softly, then calmly admitted, “We’re close.”
“Her parents asked me to take good care of her.”
The gentle, almost indulgent tone of her voice made Tan Hua freeze in alarm.
System, did she take the wrong medication today or something?!
Resting her chin in her hand, Tan Hua suspiciously observed Zheng Jinyu. Just the other day she was all cold pride and righteousness, like she’d rather shatter than bend. Now look at her—it’s only been a few hours and she’s acting like a different person.
The system didn’t know what to say. It only knew that watching its two beloved leads go head-to-head over their wicked host was making it emotionally devastated.
“Her parents?” Lu Huaixu repeated the words quietly, then said in an offhanded tone, “So you know her parents too.”
Tan Hua couldn’t help but think: Since when did you know my parents? I don’t even know who they are, and yet Zheng Jinyu’s suddenly close with them?
If the real parents of this body ever ran into Zheng Jinyu, they’d probably skin her alive.
Making up lies without even blinking… Tan Hua thought darkly.
But Zheng Jinyu was fully committed to her lie. Tan Hua noticed that she didn’t even blush, calmly nodding instead. “We had some interactions in the past.”
She was clearly trying to stake some kind of claim in front of Lu Huaixu. She continued, “They were worried that Hua Hua might be bullied by other Alphas while out on her own.”
She didn’t name names, but Lu Huaixu could tell she was implying something. Probably about her.
Lu Huaixu chuckled, her tone layered with meaning as she replied, “Yeah, Alphas out there can be pretty awful.”
Her eyes dropped to Tan Hua’s fingers, which were unconsciously twisting together. “Don’t you think so?”
“Huh?” Tan Hua was caught off guard but quickly answered, “Yeah, none of them are any good.”
The two Alphas standing nearby instantly fell silent.
Realizing what she’d just said, Tan Hua forced an awkward laugh. “Of course, I wasn’t talking about you two, President Lu, President Zheng.”
She casually added, “You’re different from the rest. You’re gentle, respectful of Omegas… The ideal marriage partners, really.”
But rather than softening the mood, her flattery seemed to make things worse—especially for Zheng Jinyu.
She probably meant that for Lu Huaixu, Zheng Jinyu thought bitterly. I was just an afterthought.
Is Lu Huaixu really that great in her eyes?
Lu Huaixu stared at Tan Hua for a long moment, her gaze deep and unreadable. Then she let out a soft, cold laugh. So fickle… switching favorites like it’s nothing. If you want to praise Zheng Jinyu, just say it. No need to use me as a smokescreen.
“Let’s go.”
Sensing the sudden shift in atmosphere between the two women, Tan Hua quickly stepped in, smiling sweetly as she looped her arm through Lu Huaixu’s. “There’s an open spot over there.”
Without waiting for a response, she pulled Lu Huaixu along.
Lu Huaixu didn’t resist, but after just a few steps, she suddenly asked, “Do you like gentle Alphas?”
“Huh?” Tan Hua blinked. “Why do you ask?”
“Do you like Alphas who respect Omegas?” Lu Huaixu pressed further.
Even Tan Hua, oblivious as she sometimes was, could tell something was off in her tone. She paused mid-step, her mind racing, then nodded firmly. “Of course! Who doesn’t love a gentle and kind big sister type?”
“Someone charming, beautiful, who dotes on me…”
Before she could finish, Lu Huaixu suddenly grabbed her hand and pried it off her arm. The Alpha’s expression was icy, her smile sharp and mocking.
“Then go find your gentle big sister.”
And with that, she turned and walked away.
Tan Hua stood frozen in place, stunned.
But before long, a grin crept across her face.
“Don’t be like that, President Lu,” she called, hurrying after her with a cheerful smile and barely concealed glee. “You’re so generous—how could I possibly leave you behind?”
I haven’t even collected the final payment yet. Only a fool would ditch this walking ATM to chase Zheng Jinyu, who’s still stuck worshipping her one true love like a tragic heroine.
Lu Huaixu let out a snort of amusement. She glanced at Tan Hua, who was shamelessly tagging along, and in the end, didn’t push her away.
Their voices were soft, just low enough that Zheng Jinyu—now standing some distance away—could barely hear them.
