The Five Heartless Scumbag Alphas Turned Against Each Other Because Of Me - Chapter 6
Chapter 6
Tan Hua immediately started pestering the system.
“System baby, what the hell? Why didn’t you tell me about this body’s marital status beforehand?”
“Ahem… well, to be honest, it’s a long story.” The system cleared its throat guiltily. “To make a long story short—Zheng Jinyu was the first… uh, ‘investor’ the original host landed.”
“That is to say, she was the first major financial backer.”
“Their substitute arc progressed faster than any other. From emotional stand-in to marriage license… then divorce.”
“Hold up.” Tan Hua raised her hand, eyes sparkling with nosy curiosity. “Was the marriage real or fake? Public or secret?”
The system gave her a look that screamed ‘are you dumb.jpg.’
“Of course it was real. Why else do you think your plastic bestie calls Zheng Jinyu your ex-wife?”
Tan Hua was stunned, then immediately clutched her chest and burst into fake tears.
“I’m just a poor little girl… I haven’t even experienced the thrill of love, and I’ve already been married off—then divorced and thrown out like trash…”
“Okay, that’s enough, Host.” The system groaned, overwhelmed by her dramatic performance. “Cut it out.”
“But nothing actually happened between you two. They just got the certificate, that’s all,” the system added quickly. Tan Hua thought about it and decided to believe it. After all, if Zheng Jinyu had done anything with the original host, and Cheng Yuan found out later, she’d probably eliminate her on the spot.
With that thought, Tan Hua finally felt a little better.
“Chastity is an Alpha’s best dowry,” she muttered. “Zheng Jinyu’s done well in that regard. I respect it.”
System: “……”
Where is she even learning this nonsense?
Once she got over the shock, Tan Hua looked up at Zheng Jinyu. The woman was dressed in an immaculate white suit, sleeves rolled up to reveal fair arms and an expensive clover bracelet. Her long, softly curled hair framed refined, beautiful features—elegant and poised.
That is, if you ignored the expression on her face, which was currently as dark as the bottom of a burnt pot.
Unlike many Alphas who radiated aggression, Zheng Jinyu carried a rare kind of gentle strength. Maybe it was because she’d been married—there was a sense of calm maturity in her demeanor that felt quietly captivating.
At least, to the current Omega version of Tan Hua, Zheng Jinyu’s calm dominance was dangerously attractive.
Who doesn’t love a gentle, pampering older woman? Tan Hua certainly did.
She showed no trace of awkwardness. With a bright smile, she raised a hand and casually greeted,
“Hi.”
There was not a hint of guilt or embarrassment on her face—no shame about being caught in the act.
Zheng Jinyu’s deep eyes locked onto her without warmth. She didn’t respond to the greeting, only asked,
“Why aren’t you home this late?”
“Just out having fun,” Tan Hua replied in her heart, Isn’t it obvious? If I’m in a bar in the middle of the night, of course I’m here to have a little fun.
“Alone?” Zheng Jinyu’s soft features slowly took on a frosty edge—like her once-obedient little pet had suddenly decided to sneak out and hook up with some random stray. Her pride and sense of control felt personally offended.
Excuse me? Tan Hua frowned and pointed to Mu Wanyi, who was standing awkwardly next to her.
“Is she not a person in your eyes?”
Mu Wanyi: “……”
Who are you calling ‘not a person’??
She was sure Tan Hua was taking a jab at her—but she had no proof, and more importantly, she didn’t dare speak. The icy pressure radiating from the displeased Alpha beside her made her feel like she was sitting on a bed of nails. All she wanted was to escape.
Even though Zheng Jinyu’s aura was gentler than most Alphas’, to Omegas, that subtle control still felt like a predator quietly watching from the dark.
But… Mu Wanyi looked over at Tan Hua, confused and a little lost.
Wasn’t she scared? How was she this calm?
Of course, Tan Hua was scared—but she was too annoyed to show it. She complained silently to the system:
“We’re all human. What’s with this superiority complex? You’re telling me I can’t even conquer a single body? Please.”
The system watched her try to act unfazed even though she was clearly trembling inside.
“…This isn’t necessary.”
Wouldn’t it be easier to just accept the evolutionary theory of natural selection?
Tan Hua wrestled with her body in exaggerated defiance. Zheng Jinyu watched her silently, then let out a low, quiet laugh.
The moment she smiled, Tan Hua froze, immediately ceasing her movements. Her eyes flicked toward Zheng Jinyu warily, and she subtly edged closer to Mu Wanyi.
Mu Wanyi frowned and tried to push her away but couldn’t budge her.
“I thought you weren’t afraid of her,” she muttered.
Why are you suddenly acting like a scared little bunny?
“You don’t get it,” Tan Hua replied, watching Zheng Jinyu like she was a wild animal. “You should never provoke a ‘quiet type.’ When they snap, it’s scary.”
Her words, of course, reached Zheng Jinyu’s ears. But instead of reacting angrily, she smiled even more gently.
“Come home with me.”
Tan Hua didn’t even hesitate.
“Nope.”
What do you take me for, an idiot? she muttered silently to the system.
“Going home with her means I only get to ‘play’ with one person. But if I stay here, I can play with two—maybe even three or four. As long as I have money, all the Alphas in this place will smile at me like I’m their favorite customer. Why would I give up the whole forest for one tree?”
The system clutched its virtual head in despair.
What even is this logic!?
“Tan Hua,” Zheng Jinyu said calmly, voice gentle yet cold. “Don’t make me repeat myself.”
She sounded polite, but her patience wore thinner than the most short-tempered Alpha in the next room.
Tan Hua hesitated and turned to Mu Wanyi, whispering,
“You know her better. Be honest—what happens if I don’t go with her?”
Caught off guard, Mu Wanyi wanted to say How would I know anything about her? But the next second, a mischievous glint flashed in her eye as she replied gleefully,
“She’ll fry you alive.”
Tan Hua: “???”
She turned around in disbelief.
What the hell kind of language is that?! Is this really my sweet, innocent Omega bestie?!
She couldn’t help lecturing her on the spot.
“Wanyi, you’re a girl, an Omega no less. You need to protect your image. Always carry yourself with elegance and poise—like a proper Omega wife…”
Halfway through her heartfelt speech, Tan Hua felt a sudden pressure at the back of her neck—like a cat being scruffed. A hand lifted her effortlessly off the ground.
“Finished?” came Zheng Jinyu’s cool voice, low and close to her ear. Her breath brushed against Tan Hua’s earlobe—warm and feather-light, sending a shiver of ticklish sensation across her skin.
“Then let’s go.”
I wasn’t done yet— Tan Hua wanted to argue, but she was already being hauled away. She could only watch Mu Wanyi grow smaller and smaller in the distance until she completely vanished from view.
But I don’t want to leave yet…
Seizing a moment when Zheng Jinyu’s grip loosened, Tan Hua struggled free and stepped back, her voice steady.
“President Zheng, I must remind you.”
“We are divorced.”
“Which means we have no more ties between us. Where I go, what I do, who I ‘have fun’ with—whether I sleep with someone else or not—none of it has anything to do with you.”
“What do you think?”
Tan Hua curled her lips into a smirk. Under the dim, golden light of the bar, her beauty glowed with a sultry charm, like an enchantress from a dream.
“Or… could it be that during our time together, you’ve started to fall for me for real?”
Zheng Jinyu’s gaze sharpened like a blade.
In the next instant, Tan Hua felt her back slam into something hard and cold—the wall. Zheng Jinyu had moved faster than she could react, pressing her tightly against it, body completely immobilized.
From this close, Tan Hua could catch a faint, sweet scent—soft and fruity. It had notes of honey and ripe oranges, smooth and lingering. She couldn’t tell if it was the brandy in the bar or the scent of Zheng Jinyu’s pheromones, but either way, it was intoxicating. She didn’t hate it.
Pinned and restrained, Tan Hua squirmed a little but quickly gave up. Her delicate features relaxed, and she smiled, victorious.
“What? Did I hit the mark?”
Instead of pulling away, she leaned in even closer, her breath mingling with Zheng Jinyu’s.
“Otherwise, why would someone as cold as you suddenly lose your composure like this?”
She looked entirely sure of herself—like she already knew the answer.
Zheng Jinyu could hear her own heartbeat thundering in her chest. But it wasn’t love—it was rage.
“You guessed wrong,” she said, voice like a blade wrapped in silk.
“I’m just… regretting it.”
Tan Hua: “?”
“I never should’ve chosen you,” Zheng Jinyu said, her eyes dark and unreadable. “You’re just a flicker of firelight—how could you ever compare to Yuan Yuan’s brilliance, like the sun and moon?”
“She’s so mean,” Tan Hua instantly cried to the system. “How could she say that to me?”
Even the system thought Zheng Jinyu had gone too far and was about to offer some comfort—only to hear Tan Hua continue indignantly:
“She makes it sound like I forced her into it. She made the choice herself, and now she’s blaming me? Classic scumbag Alpha behavior.”
“I’m even more curious now.”
The system got a bad feeling in its circuits. And sure enough, the next words were:
“What kind of miracle is this female lead, to have five Alphas so pathetically devoted to her?”
“And the more these Alphas act cold and indifferent toward me,” she said with a gleaming smile, “the more I want to conquer them. Isn’t it the most satisfying thing, to watch all these arrogant Alphas fall madly in love with me?”
The system could only respond numbly,
“Yes, yes, Host… you’re absolutely right.”
Well, it reasoned, at least she’s finally taking the mission seriously. If her competitiveness kicks in because of the targets, maybe that’s a good thing… maybe.
From Zheng Jinyu’s perspective, Tan Hua stood completely still, eyes locked on her without blinking. But when she looked more closely, she realized there was no focus in those beautiful eyes at all—Tan Hua was clearly distracted, lost in her own thoughts.
Or worse—thinking about someone else entirely.
Zheng Jinyu’s face turned colder. Her patience had run out.
“Are you coming home with me or not?”
Snapping back to reality, Tan Hua didn’t hesitate.
“No.”
“No?” Zheng Jinyu looked stunned, then visibly irritated. “So you’re planning to return alone, in the middle of the night, to that flimsy little rental you call a house? The one that could blow away in a breeze?”
“Of course not,” Tan Hua replied, looking at her like she was the one being unreasonable. “I’m staying here, obviously. There’s food, drinks, and warm, considerate Alphas to keep me company. Why would I go back to that depressing place?”
Zheng Jinyu was momentarily speechless, and in that silence, Tan Hua leaned in slightly, smiling seductively.
“And just a reminder, President Zheng—we’re divorced. We have nothing to do with each other anymore.” She paused deliberately. “So please, stop meddling in my business, OK?”
“If you keep this up,” she added with a wink, “I’ll start to think you still have… feelings for me.”
Zheng Jinyu looked like she had just witnessed a completely new side of her ex-wife—sharp-tongued, bold, utterly unafraid.
By now, Tan Hua had played enough. She tossed her a teasing glance and turned to walk back toward Mu Wanyi. As she strolled away, she muttered under her breath,
“So that’s it, huh? And I thought Zheng Jinyu was supposed to be obsessed with Cheng Yuan.”
The system wisely chose not to burst her bubble.
You’re just a stand-in, of course you don’t compare. If it were Cheng Yuan standing here, do you think Zheng Jinyu—
Suddenly, a hand reached out and gripped Tan Hua’s wrist.
Startled, she turned around to find Zheng Jinyu looking at her with an unreadable expression.
“Five hundred thousand.”
Tan Hua: “…What?”
Zheng Jinyu’s patience really was paper-thin—and her mood shifted faster than a toddler’s.
“Five hundred thousand. Come home with me.”
“No,” Tan Hua refused again. But this time, her tone was lighter, her eyes curving into a smile. “President Zheng, a little firefly like me wouldn’t dare pollute the love nest of you and your brilliant goddess.”
She gently pried Zheng Jinyu’s fingers off her wrist, her smile so smug it made Zheng Jinyu’s chest tighten in irritation.
Zheng Jinyu’s expression darkened instantly.
Clearly, gentle persuasion had failed.
Her tone dropped several degrees.
“Tan Hua, don’t keep testing my limits.”
That edge in her voice—dangerous, low, and authoritative—should have been a warning. But instead, it only seemed to spark something in Tan Hua.
Her eyes lit up with excitement.
“Oh, but I love testing limits.”
