Can I still be saved? [Transmigration] - Chapter 25
On the first day of school, new students were required to report to the Academic Affairs Office.
Old Wu parked the car across the street from the school and called Fu Hanzhou to wake up.
Fu Hanzhou pushed up the brim of his baseball cap.
Seeing his drowsy eyes, Su Yunjing was now certain—he had really been asleep.
It felt like the little cool cub wasn’t fully awake, but just relied on muscle memory to open the door, get out of the car, cross the street, and enter the school gates.
He ignored everyone from beginning to end.
Although Old Wu drove Fu Hanzhou to school every day, he rarely entered Nanzhong’s campus.
After asking the security guard for directions, Old Wu brought the transfer paperwork and accompanied Su Yunjing to the Academic Affairs Office.
On the way, Su Yunjing asked, “Is Hanzhou also in Grade 11? Which class is he in?”
That confused Old Wu. “I’m not quite sure.”
Su Yunjing asked again, “Does he have any friends?”
Old Wu thought for a moment. “I’ve never seen him hang out closely with anyone, and he’s never invited anyone over to the house.”
Old Wu, who had been working for the Shen family for four or five years, had been picking up and dropping off Fu Hanzhou since middle school.
His impression of the boy was simple. He liked to sleep, rarely spoke, minded his own business, and didn’t have any of the bad habits typical of rich kids.
Other than that, he didn’t know much.
Su Yunjing: yep, still the same aloof and alone cool cub.
Su Yunjing was assigned to Class 5 of Grade 11.
Coincidentally, the homeroom teacher was in the Academic Affairs Office and brought him back personally.
Zhang Zhigang, a male math teacher, was thirty-five years old.
After three terms of being a homeroom teacher and dealing with mischievous seventeen- and eighteen-year-olds for nine years, he was seasoned.
He was well-liked for his easygoing personality, and the students jokingly called him “Chatterbox Zhang.”
Zhang Zhigang walked onto the podium with a roll of math lesson plans, his expression full of frustration.
“Can you guys keep it down? As soon as I step onto the third floor, I hear every class reciting except ours. It sounds like you are putting on a damn opera!”
“The dean has already talked to me twice about our morning readings. One more time and I might as well pack up and go chase my dream of being a street dance god.”
At that, the rowdy boys below the podium started to jeer playfully.
“Sir, show us some street dance!”
“Yeah, give us a spin!”
“Alright, alright.” Zhang Zhigang tapped the table with his math book to restore order.
Once the class quieted, he waved at Su Yunjing. “Come, introduce yourself to the class.”
Su Yunjing stepped into the classroom, hesitated briefly, and then walked up to the podium.
Seeing the handsome new transfer student, many girls in the class were dazzled.
Even though the platform was only a few inches high, standing on it immediately gave a broader view.
Su Yunjing easily spotted the long-haired boy sleeping at his desk in the back row.
His mood instantly lifted, and he introduced himself with a smile, “Hi everyone, I’m Wen Ci.”
“That’s it?” Zhang Zhigang asked, raising an eyebrow.
Su Yunjing added, “I’m really happy to transfer to Nanzhong’s Class 5. I hope we can all get along well.”
Seeing Zhang Zhigang still looking at him expectantly, Su Yunjing gave up. “That’s really all, teacher.”
Zhang Zhigang didn’t press further and said some motivational words.
Basically, he said that now that Wen Ci was part of Class 5, it was fate, and everyone should get along harmoniously and work together toward a better future. and please don’t band together cause Chaos like the Monkey King.
Su Yunjing: “…”
Zhang Zhigang then pointed to an empty seat. “Go sit next to Li Xueyang.”
There were two empty seats in the back row, one next to Li Xueyang and the other next to Fu Hanzhou.
Su Yunjing had hoped to sit with his little cool cub, so he felt slightly disappointed.
Still, he didn’t complain and quietly walked to the last row with his backpack.
Li Xueyang pushed up his black-rimmed glasses, looked at his new deskmate.
Gray sports jacket, pair Air Jordans
of white sneakers.
His features were bright and clean, with sharp and smooth contours.
The kind of pretty-boy look that a lot of girls liked.
His eyes lingered a moment on those white sneakers before he asked, “Where did you transfer from?”
“Henglin No.1 High School,” Su Yunjing replied.
Li Xueyang frowned. “I’ve never heard of a Henglin in Kyoto.”
“It’s not in Jingdu,” Su Yunjing explained. “Henglin’s my hometown, a county-level city.”
“So how come you came to study here?”
“My family works here. Plus, Jingdu’s got a higher college admission rate, so they transferred me.”
Li Xueyang glanced at Su Yunjing’s shoes and suddenly asked, “Do you watch basketball?”
“Sometimes,” Su Yunjing replied.
“Then you must’ve seen the Lakers vs. Rockets series, right? It still hurts to think about it, Yao really got the short end of the stick,” Li Xueyang spat bitterly.
Su Yunjing had also thought it was a shame back then, but that phase was long behind him. He just nodded. “Yeah.”
That “yeah” hit Li Xueyang like a wall. He thought to himself, Doesn’t even know basketball, what’s he doing wearing AJs, trying to act cool?
He stopped talking after that.
A while later, seeing Su Yunjing kept glancing toward Fu Hanzhou napping at his desk, Li Xueyang couldn’t help but whisper,“Wondering why he’s allowed to have long hair?”
Su Yunjing heard this and looked at Li Xueyang.
To be honest, he was really curious about why Fu Hanzhou kept his hair.
“Nanzhong’s pretty open-minded. They encourage free thinking, so there are lots of talented students here who stand out in their own way.”
“But him?” Li Xueyang smirked. “His dad donated an entire science building to the school.”
He spun a pen in his fingers and added smugly, “So yeah, if you want to grow your hair out, find yourself a rich dad.”
Su Yunjing: “…”
He didn’t have a rich dad, but he did have a rich future uncle.
Of course, Su Yunjing couldn’t say this to Li Xueyang. He looked at Fu Hanzhou again.
Golden sunlight poured in through the windows, casting a warm halo around the black-haired boy.
In soft light, his porcelain skin seemed to be covered in a layer of honey-colored glaze, and his delicate features were breathtakingly beautiful.
Gotta admit, the little cool cub grew up gorgeous.
Class 5 was full of mischievous troublemakers, and the atmosphere during morning reading was chaotic.
Even though Nanzhong had an open-minded school culture, and embraced flexible teaching methods, it didn’t mean they would tolerate students running wild.
Zhang Zhigang had been scolded again by the dean, so the morning reading session turned into a scolding session.
He lectured until he was hoarse, while Fu Hanzhou slept motionless through it all.
Finally, the bell rang and Zhang Zhigang’s motivational rant ended.
“Alright, everyone reset and get ready for the first period. And tighten those monkey tails of yours!”
After saying that, Zhang Zhigang took the math lesson plan and left the classroom.
As soon as he left, the atmosphere suddenly became cheerful again.
The boys joked and wrestled around, the girls gathered to gossip about the latest dress updates in Audition Online.
The noise didn’t bother Fu Hanzhou in the slightest, he seemed to sleep even better in chaos.
That is, until someone’s textbook flew and hit him.
A hard, 90-degree corner of an English book landed squarely on his shoulder, then fell to the floor with a thud.
The whole classroom fell silent..
The two boys who had been horsing around froze, their expressions stiff and uneasy.
Everyone else also fell completely silent, turning in unison to look at Fu Hanzhou.
“Why is everyone suddenly quiet?” Su Yunjing whispered to Li Xueyang.
Why did he feel that everyone seemed to be afraid of the little cool cub?
Li Xueyang had no intention of chatting, but the gossip was too good to keep to himself. He leaned over and said in a low voice.
“Last semester, he beat a guy so bad he broke his leg and a few ribs.”
“His dad barely managed to smooth it over with money. But that guy turned out to be so sneaky that he sent the victim to the police station. I heard that the man was sentenced to more than ten years.”
Su Yunjing: …Are we sure it’s ten years because Fu Hanzhou’s sneaky, and not because that guy actually deserved it?
Meanwhile, Fu Hanzhou stirred and slowly sat up.
The class fell so silent that you could hear a pin drop.
His eyelids were half-lowered, looking like he hadn’t slept well.
The two teenagers who caused the trouble suddenly became a little nervous.
But Fu Hanzhou acted like he didn’t notice the tension around him, pulling his breakfast out from under his desk.
He took a sip of lukewarm congee, then bit into a bun.
A few seconds passed.
Seeing that he wasn’t mad, the boy who threw the book breathed a sigh of relief, hurried to pick it up and mumbled an apology.
Fu Hanzhou said nothing.
After the incident, everyone quieted down and returned to their seats to get ready for the first English class.
As for Su Yunjing, he basically enjoyed an unexpected breakfast mukbang.
Before the bell rang, Fu Hanzhou had already finished eating.
He spent every class afterward sleeping, and Su Yunjing couldn’t help but wonder if he was possessed by the god of sleep.
Back when they were kids, Fu Hanzhou had trouble sleeping, but not to this extent.
Su Yunjing frowned slightly.
Nanzhong High had two cafeterias. Most students didn’t go home for lunch and ate at school.
The west cafeteria served large-portion meals, cheap and filling.
The east cafeteria served small, refined dishes and was favored by students from wealthy families.
The last period of the morning was Zhang Zhigang’ math class.
After class, Zhang called both Su Yunjing and Li Xueyang to his desk.
“I forgot to tell you to get a cafeteria card. Use mine for this meal.”
He handed his own card to Su Yunjing and told Li Xueyang, “He’s new and doesn’t know his way around. Take him to eat.”
Su Yunjing thanked him and turned around, only to see that Fu Hanzhou’s seat was already empty.
Guess he’d gone ahead.
Since he was hungry, Su Yunjing followed Li Xueyang toward the cafeteria.
Li Xueyang told him about the two different cafeterias. Su Yunjing didn’t go to the west one with him, he asked for directions to the east cafeteria instead.
Knowing the little yandere, he was sure Fu Hanzhou would choose the pricier, tastier option.
The dishes in the East Cafeteria are expensive, but refined and taste good.
Su Yunjing thought about how much money Zhang Zhigang spent, and when he applied for a cafeteria card himself, he would pay him back.
Li Xueyang didn’t know this, so he threw a sarcastic glance and pointed out the direction.
As Su Yunjing walked off, Li Xueyang rolled his eyes.
Of course he didn’t care about the price, it wasn’t his own meal card.
At the east cafeteria, Su Yunjing saw they had fish on the menu. He ordered sweet and sour fish, and his favourite some spicy chicken.
He stood in the hall with his plate in hand and he scanned the cafeteria.
It didn’t take long to spot the most striking figure in the room, Fu Hanzhou.
Su Yunjing smiled and headed toward him.
