Can I still be saved? [Transmigration] - Chapter 32.1
Friendship between boys is often very simple.
Just a few days ago, Su Yunjing hadn’t even spoken a full sentence to most of the boys in class.
But after that basketball game during P.E., they’d built a bit of camaraderie.
The next day during the long break, Chen Yuechao was holding a basketball with one hand and calling out to the usual group to play.
Once most of the players had gathered, he suddenly turned to Su Yunjing and said, “Wenci, want to come too? We worked pretty well together yesterday. Let’s play another game.”
The thirty-minute break at South High was enough time to play half a game.
The last fight with Xu Huai a while back had made Su Yunjing realize just how important stamina was.
Yesterday’s exercise had been too much, and the insides of his arms and his calves were still a bit sore.
He really did need to start exercising more.
Su Yunjing stood up. “Sure.”
A group of people left the classroom chatting and laughing. Even when they were already far away, Chen Yuechao’s loud voice could still be heard.
“Honestly, I used to think you were really cold and aloof. Didn’t expect that after actually hanging out with you, your temper’s not bad at all.”
Su Yunjing wanted to laugh. In all his life, no one had ever called him cold before.
He didn’t know why Chen Yuechao got that impression of him.
In fact, aside from Fu Hanzhou, almost everyone in Class 5 had that same impression of Su Yunjing.
Good-looking, apparently a neighbor of Fu Hanzhou, likely from a wealthy background, and not someone who spoke much on his own.
Naturally, people lumped him together with Fu Hanzhou—both cold and aloof.
They had the same lineup as the day before.
Mentally, Su Yunjing was older, and he’d played basketball longer than anyone else on the court.
He was actually well-suited to be a point guard, someone who connects the whole team.
But Su Yunjing’s stamina was too poor, which was a big disadvantage for a point guard.
After all, the one who sticks out gets targeted first. As the starting point of the team’s offense, he had all five opponents watching him alone.
It goes without saying how much stamina that required.
Luckily, this wasn’t a formal game, and they wouldn’t be playing a full forty-minute match.
Even so, Chen Yuechao still gave Su Yunjing that important position.
As expected, Su Yunjing became the focus of defense.
Especially Li Xueyang, who stuck to him like glue.
Su Yunjing dribbled the ball while Li Xueyang constantly tried to steal it.
But the ball seemed like it was glued to Su Yunjing’s hands, each time it bounced off the ground, it was instantly caught firmly again.
He and Chen Yuechao became more and more in sync.
Working together, they used two fake moves to trick Li Xueyang, then drove in for a layup and scored.
After taking the two points, Chen Yuechao whistled and came up to high-five Su Yunjing.
Li Xueyang wiped his sweat with a black wristband, his expression was a bit ugly.
He had thought Su Yunjing was just a weak player. He hadn’t expected him to be this good.
Now the two of them were officially going head-to-head.
Once again, Su Yunjing was tightly guarded by Li Xueyang, and Chen Yuechao was also caught up in a tangle with his defender.
Just as Su Yunjing was thinking of how to break through, he heard a sudden scream from the distance.
Out of the corner of his eye, he caught sight of a basketball spinning at high speed as it flew out of the court, heading straight for a boy passing by.
That boy had long, inky-black hair, and skin as pale and cold as winter snow.
His features were delicate and beautiful; it was hard to tell male from female.
Seeing this, Su Yunjing’s heart felt like it was suddenly grabbed by a giant hand. He couldn’t even breathe.
He dropped the ball and ran off the court.
Chen Yuechao also saw that Fu Hanzhou had been hit by the ball. Knowing they were close, he didn’t say much.
During the long break, Su Yunjing and his classmates weren’t the only ones on the court—other classes were playing too.
Fu Hanzhou had been hit in the nose by a basketball from another group, and it was bleeding.
When Su Yunjing got there, Fu Hanzhou was tilting his head back, covering his nose, and bright red bl00d was dripping through his fingers.
Some of it followed the lines of his palm, dripping down toward his wrist.
Su Yunjing squeezed through the crowd. Seeing Fu Hanzhou’s hands covered in bl00d, his heart tightened. “Are you okay?”
Fu Hanzhou’s long, narrow phoenix eyes glanced at Su Yunjing. His brows were furrowed, looking very worried.
After just a glance, Fu Hanzhou turned away and didn’t say a word.
Su Yunjing took him to the nurse’s office.
Luckily, the ball had hit slightly off-center and hadn’t smashed directly into the bridge of his nose.
There was no fracture, just a ruptured bl00d vessel inside the nose, causing the bleeding.
The school nurse picked up a cotton ball, planning to clean up the bl00d in his nasal cavity.
Fu Hanzhou frowned slightly, clearly uncomfortable with being touched.
Su Yunjing stepped forward and said to the nurse, “I’ll do it.”
The nurse was briefly stunned, and just then her phone buzzed in his pocket.
He handed the cotton ball to Su Yunjing, pulled out her phone, and answered the call.
“Use this to clean up the bl00d first,” he instructed Su Yunjing. “After that, use an ice pack on his nose. The ice packs are in that small fridge.”
Su Yunjing nodded. “Got it.”
“Hello? Didn’t I just tell you I’m busy? A student in the nurse’s office has a nose injury. Why are you calling me now?” the nurse said as he stepped outside.
Fu Hanzhou sat there with his head tilted slightly forward, one hand pressing against his nose.
Su Yunjing walked over, used tweezers to hold the cotton ball, and gently wiped the bl00d near the front of Fu Hanzhou’s nose.
The cotton was quickly soaked red.
But since the bleeding hadn’t stopped, Su Yunjing went to the small fridge and took out an ice pack.
He’d had a nose injury himself before from playing basketball, and he remembered he used to blow out the bl00d first and then apply ice.
But in Fu Hanzhou’s case, blowing his nose would risk further damage.
Su Yunjing placed the ice pack on Fu Hanzhou’s forehead to help constrict the bl00d vessels and slow the bleeding.
Then he replaced the cotton with a new one and gently inserted it deeper into his nose.
Fu Hanzhou had his head tilted back. His jawline was smooth and pale, like polished jade.
His dark eyes stared directly at Su Yunjing.
“Does it hurt?” Su Yunjing asked.
He looked up, meeting Fu Hanzhou’s deep gaze.
Su Yunjing: “???”
After waiting for a while, seeing that Fu Hanzhou had no intention of answering him, he didn’t ask again.
Of course, it must hurt. But the bl00d clots had to be cleaned out.
Su Yunjing tried to be as gentle as possible as he inserted the cotton into Fu Hanzhou’s nose.
He stuffed two cotton balls into one nostril.
No matter how good-looking someone was, they couldn’t escape looking silly like that.
Seeing the way his nostril had puffed up, Su Yunjing almost laughed but held it back, thinking it would be mean.
He cleared his throat. “Lie down for now. Once the bleeding slows, I’ll take the cotton out.”
There were two beds in the nurse’s office. To make Fu Hanzhou more comfortable, Su Yunjing grabbed a pillow from the other bed.
Once everything was settled, the bell rang for class.
Su Yunjing checked the time and left the nurse’s office.
As soon as he was gone, Fu Hanzhou sat up straight. The ice pack on his nose slipped off the bed, but he didn’t care, his eyes followed Su Yunjing’s back.
The school nurse came in and saw him sitting upright with two stuffed cotton balls in his nose, already stained with bl00d.
The nurse said, “Lie back down. Or at least tilt your head back.”
Su Yunjing had asked for two periods off and went to the snack shop to buy some drinks.
After entering the nurse’s office, he handed the school nurse a bottle of warm orange juice. “Here, teacher. It’s hot.”
The nurse waved it off. “No need.”
“I already bought it. Please drink it while it’s still warm,” Su Yunjing insisted, placing it on the desk.
The nurse had no choice but to accept it.
Fu Hanzhou sat on the bed, still silent as ever.
Seeing that the bleeding had stopped, Su Yunjing used tweezers to remove the cotton from his nose.
“Teacher, the bleeding’s stopped,” he told the nurse.
The nurse took a sip of the steaming juice. “Let him lie down for a bit. I’ll rinse his nasal cavity with saline later.”
Su Yunjing asked, “Can he drink water now at room temperature?”
“Yes.”
Su Yunjing opened a bottle and handed it to Fu Hanzhou.
Fu Hanzhou tilted his head back, Adam’s apple moving slightly as he drank from the bottle, one sip at a time.
The tip of his nose was red, and his hands were stained with bl00d, even his fingernails had some traces.
Su Yunjing took out a tissue from his pocket and handed it to him once he finished drinking.
Fu Hanzhou held the ice pack against his nose and glanced sideways at Su Yunjing.
Su Yunjing: “…”
Fine, fine.
He resigned himself to wiping the bl00d off Fu Hanzhou’s hands with a wet tissue.
