The lightning-wreathed giant man turned toward the masked man. His voice was deep enough to shake the ground. The members of the White Orchid Magic Corps stiffened from the pressure.

『I’ll take the woman later. First, I’ll kill you.』

The giant glared. Lightning was crackling from his body. The two faced each other at a distance. They were crouching in unison like predators.

Two sounds of a step forward.

The ground cracked as if hit by meteors, and their bodies blurred with motion.

*BOOM!*

A thunderous crash echoed—the lightning-wrapped giant was slammed into a massive tree.

“Wha—what just happened…?”

Ellel stared wide-eyed at the tree that now looked about to collapse.

“The masked guy punched lightning dude in the gut.”

“That speed and strength… is he even human?”

Standing behind her without notice, Vice-Captain Curry and Captain Paola answered her question.

『Damn you…!! Don’t mess with me!! [Lightning Spear]!!』

A spear-shaped bolt shot from the giant’s body. It was slicing the air as it flew at the masked man. But—

“It’s not hitting him at all…”

The masked man moved faster than the lightning. He evaded effortlessly. Worse, he charged at the giant while dragging the [Lightning Spear] behind him.

The [Lightning Spear] vanished—only the masked man shot forward.

Once again, his fist sank into the giant’s stomach. The impact tore through his body and into the tree.

The massive tree creaked and began to fall. The masked man swiftly leaped back.

The tree collapsed mercilessly on the giant. It shook the ground with a loud crash.

Silence followed.

“He won.”

Elrul murmured.

Paola’s voice.

In response, a mass of flesh swelled from beneath the tree. It no longer resembled a human.

Faces appeared and vanished across its surface. And with each cycle, it grew heavier.

“So he really did give up being human.”

The masked man stood atop the fallen tree. He was watching the grotesque transformation.

“You’re disgusting. Just disappear.”

He clenched his left fist and aimed.

On the gauntlet covering his hand was a red jewel—nearly identical to the one on Ellel’s staff.

“[Release].”

At his word, two [Lightning Spears] shot from the gem. Twisting together, they pierced the flesh mass deeply.

“It’s over.”

A flat, emotionless voice echoed.

The flesh burst apart violently. It was roasted by fierce lightning, boiling, then turning to char.

The masked man leapt down from the tree, picked up his backpack, and glanced around.

Looking a bit embarrassed, he said “These potions work really well.” While he took out several small vials from his bag and lined them on the ground.

“Later.”

With a kick off the ground, he vanished from sight.

Those left behind stared in stunned silence for a moment—until they remembered the wounded and scrambled to grab the potions he left.
