- A Captive Prince Awaiting Execution Falls In Love With A Young Lady
- Episode 29 - Secret Meeting
The next day.
Sirius was quietly meeting with his brother-in-law Patrick in a nearby monastery, guided by the high priest Sobish of the Azil faction.
“It’s been a while, brother-in-law.”
I spoke to him like that, but Patrick just glared at me with fiery eyes and still didn’t say a word.
We had agreed that each of us would have one attendant.
Therefore, in the room, there are only Sirius, Mr. Sanders, who was asked to come secretly after explaining the situation, Sobish from the Azil faction, Patrick, and the elderly man Patrick brought along.
“I will speak frankly, brother-in-law.”
Several minutes passed in silence, so Sirius spoke up again.
“Please stop with the ridiculous things like treason.”
“What do you think you’re doing?”
Patrick slams the desk and stands up angrily.
“Why are you following the orders of a lowlife who usurped the throne from my father? Why aren’t you carrying out what I told you to do?”
“We are now the deposed princes. The regime belongs to the Bourbon dynasty.”
Sirius looked up at Patrick while sitting in his chair.
It’s the complete opposite of me.
You look more haggard than when we met at the tower.
His eyes were bloodshot, his skin was rough, and the prickly sense of intimidation only grew stronger.
“You coward!”
I reached out my arm to grab Sirius, but Mr. Sanders swiftly struck my hand with his fan.
“Rude person!”
Patrick spat and directed his anger towards Mr. Sanders, but he was stopped by an elderly person who was present.
“Prince, please calm down.”
After being told that many times, Patrick finally sat down in a chair, trying to catch his breath.
“It’s ridiculous to start wars over differences in the interpretation of doctrine.”
Sobish quietly broached the topic with the elderly monk.
“Discussing is important. By debating, we elevate each other. But we must not involve violence in that.”
“Why don’t you understand that you are the ones blaspheming against God?”
The elderly person exudes quiet anger.
“The decadence of the monasteries in various regions is beyond bearing. What is that?”
“Is it the fact that we are providing meals? Or that we are allowing non-monks to live in the corners of the monastery?”
“Leave those who lack training and effort alone!”
“Not everyone can live like you. Humans are lazy, weak, and pathetic beings. We must also open our doors to such people.”
Sobish says.
“Because God saves such people.”
“No! The distortion of doctrine is utterly unacceptable!”
The elderly person shouted.
“People constantly strive to approach God, honing their skills through rigorous training! It is within the purity and tranquility that the voice of God can be found! Listen to that divine voice!”
“Is that god telling us to fight?”
Sirius asked the elder.
“Does your God command you to kill people? To beat those who don’t listen to you? Doesn’t He say to talk it out, to understand each other?”
“It’s sophistry!”
The elderly person pointed at Sirius and said. Sirius looked straight into their eyes and spoke.
“Your god seems to have quite a narrow mind, brother-in-law.”
Sirius ended the conversation with the elderly person and stared at Patrick, who was trembling slightly, possibly out of anger.
“King Benedict is not our enemy. He is generous and has also buried Robert’s remains in the royal family’s tomb.”
“What do you think you’re doing on your own?”
“And he is also an ambitious person. He possesses immense wealth, and his information control extends throughout the entire country. We can’t win. We have no choice but to lose.”
“You won’t know unless you try! No.”
Patrick said firmly.
“God should deliver a just judgment!”
“Yes, Crown Prince.”
Seeing the master and servant nodding at each other with heated eyes, Sobish let out a sigh of disappointment.
Sirius also placed his hand on his forehead and let out a deep sigh.
I didn’t think it would be easy to persuade them, but there’s no way to get through to them.
I had some hope because I had been hoping for contact.
“You will surely regret it!”
Patrick stood up and declared.
“Because you didn’t stand up with me!”
The war is already unavoidable.
Sirius slowly lifted his face.
“Just remember this, brother-in-law. You can consider this my last words.”
“What?”
Patrick glares at Sirius, who remains seated.
“We have prepared a merchant ship at the port to the north. Please make use of it.”
Sirius said that much and then left the monastery with Sobish and Mr. Sanders.
