A Flirtatious Beauty Alpha Provokes a Crazy Omega - Chapter 8
Chapter 8: Hold Me
They had been filming daily life scenes for two consecutive days.
The morning shoot also consisted of scenes with Liang Yongping interacting with her neighbors or going out—overall, it went smoothly.
Lunchtime.
The break room was simple, but Jiang Mi had placed an elegant vase on the table, filled with vibrant white roses. She was eating the nutritious boxed lunch provided by the crew when Zhao Jia placed two beautiful oranges in front of her.
Jiang Mi reached out halfway, then turned to ask, “Are there more?”
“Just those two.”
After a brief pause, Jiang Mi pulled her hand back. “Then I’ll take them to Teacher Yan later.”
Zhao Jia raised her eyebrows and studied her for a few seconds, then patted Jiang Mi’s shoulder with a pleased smile. “Not bad, Xiao Jiang. You’ve really figured out how to play the game these past few days.”
For three days in a row now, anything good—snacks, drinks, you name it—Jiang Mi would make sure to send a share over to Yan Wei. Even the soy milk for breakfast had been in “matching sets.”
“Of course,” Jiang Mi said proudly.
She figured it was about time to deliver the small gift she had prepared for Yan Wei too.
Yan Wei’s dressing room was next door and far better equipped than Jiang Mi’s. On top of what the production provided, her agency team had also made special arrangements to ensure everything was top-notch.
Yan Wei sat on a soft chair scrolling through her phone. Her main agent, Su Rui, a D-rank Alpha, had other artists to manage today, so her assistant Bai Qiu was with her instead.
Bai Qiu was a Beta—the safest type within ABO dynamics. Unlike Alphas and Omegas, Betas didn’t risk releasing pheromones or triggering psychological or physical reactions in others.
In the entertainment industry, stars often had Beta assistants precisely because they were less likely to cause issues.
Just then, a gentle knock came at the door. Bai Qiu glanced at Yan Wei, who said nothing, and walked over to open it. The moment she did, Jiang Mi’s bright smile caught her off guard.
“Teacher Jiang,” she greeted with a grin.
Jiang Mi waved cheerfully. “Hi there! Is Teacher Yan in? I brought something for her.”
Bai Qiu turned back. Yan Wei had already looked up.
Though Bai Qiu hadn’t worked with Yan Wei for long, she wasn’t sure if the silence meant “come in” or “stay out.”
Fortunately, Jiang Mi didn’t seem intent on entering. She handed the item over and spoke toward Yan Wei inside: “Freshly peeled orange slices—time to get some vitamin C. I’ll be off now.”
She waved again to Bai Qiu and turned to leave.
Bai Qiu closed the door, chuckled, and placed the transparent container beside Yan Wei. “Teacher Jiang is really thoughtful—always bringing gifts. Want to try one?”
Inside, the orange slices glistened—plump, glossy, full of vitality.
Despite getting shut down repeatedly, that woman still came over without hesitation.
Yan Wei glanced at her phone. “You can have them.”
Bai Qiu wasn’t surprised. As Yan Wei’s assistant, she had already received plenty of “benefits”—she had even enjoyed breakfast courtesy of Jiang Mi the last few days. She thanked her boss, picked up the container, took a slice, and her eyes sparkled.
So sweet.
Even though she tried to stifle her reaction out of respect for Yan Wei, a soft sound of delight still slipped out.
Yan Wei looked up, her gaze falling briefly on the orange slices—just for a few seconds—then shifted away again.
After a short rest, the crew resumed filming around 1 PM.
Jiang Mi applied eye drops—perhaps she hadn’t slept well last night, and her midday nap had been deep enough that she was groggy when woken up.
She patted her cheeks to wake herself.
Because of the eye drops, her eyes were red and glassy. Her cheeks glowed with a flush from the face-patting. And paired with her modest, conservative costume, the combination gave her an air of innocent seduction. She loved to smile, and while she lacked Yan Wei’s one-in-a-million beauty and talent, she still drew people’s attention.
A crew member nearby caught her expression in a candid shot and came over to ask if they could save it.
Jiang Mi saw the picture and smiled brightly, praising the angle: “That’s a great shot.”
“Teacher Jiang, you’re so kind. Thank you!”
“No problem! I should thank you for the great photo. Hey, what filter is that?”
The person enthusiastically shared the app and filter. Hearing them call her “Teacher Jiang” so many times, Jiang Mi said, “You don’t have to call me that—I’ve barely acted in a few dramas. Just use my name.”
“How about ‘Mi Mi’? I saw your fans calling you that.”
“Sure!”
Even the makeup artist nearby laughed and joked. The actress playing the fiancée, Shen Ruoxi, also wandered over, smiling warmly. Though only two years older than Jiang Mi, she had debuted earlier and carried a more mature air.
They had gotten along during table reads, and now that filming was underway, they were quite friendly.
She teased, “Mi Mi~”
Jiang Mi beamed. “Teacher Shen! Did you like the little gift?”
“Loved it. Thank you, Mi Mi. I was just thinking I needed a new phone case.”
Their corner of the set became the center of attention—others cast glances their way.
Not far off, Yan Wei had just finished getting her makeup touched up. Director Jiang Qu was walking over. The two of them looked toward Jiang Mi at the same time.
“She and Shen Ruoxi seem pretty close,” Jiang Qu commented. “But I’m worried about you. This won’t work.”
Yan Wei replied, “What makes you think she’s afraid of me?”
“It’s obvious,” Jiang Qu said bluntly. “Anyway, the two of you need to get more familiar with each other.”
After speaking, Jiang Qu added, “If you have time, help me ask when President Tan is free. I’d like to treat her to a meal.”
Yan Wei withdrew her gaze from those smiling crescent eyes. That person seemed able to laugh so cheerfully in front of anyone. She replied flatly, “The company has a project landing this week—next week, maybe.”
Jiang Qu nodded. “Alright, thanks.”
Yan Wei said nothing, shifting her body slightly. Behind her, Jiang Qu was already calling out to Jiang Mi to go over the script with them.
…
“This scene is a major turning point in the relationship between Qin Shui and Liang Yongping. When you’re rehearsing later, Yan Wei, pay attention to how you can use your body to guide Jiang Mi—work together on what feels most natural for both of you. Jiang Mi, your key focus is the emotional struggle. That’s the most crucial part. There’s going to be a close-up on your eyes, so make sure you stay steady. Another close-up will zoom in and out on your hands. You need to show resistance and barely contained desire—temptation and restraint. At the climax, grab Qin Shui’s waist—there’ll be a tight shot of your hands, so pay attention to that.”
Jiang Mi nodded. “Okay.”
Jiang Qu glanced at the script again and said, “If you can get through this scene, it’ll lay the emotional groundwork for all the tension between your characters later. If you lock into the right feeling here, you’ll be able to carry that through.”
Jiang Mi had been feeling less nervous, but hearing that, she couldn’t help but inhale sharply.
Filming had gone smoothly over the past few days—not just filming, but also her relationships with the crew had been improving steadily. Still, she vividly remembered the awkward NGs from the earlier intimate scene.
“Clear the set,” Yan Wei said suddenly.
Jiang Qu turned her attention back and nodded. She called over the assistant director and stage crew to arrange it, and soon the surrounding people began clearing out.
Then she turned to Shen Ruoxi beside her and said, “Not much for you in this scene. Just keep your performance casual and natural.”
“Got it.”
Shen Ruoxi winked at Jiang Mi and mouthed, Good luck.
Jiang Mi gave an awkward little laugh, then looked toward Yan Wei. Once Jiang Qu and Shen Ruoxi stepped aside, she walked up to Yan Wei, lowered her head, and mumbled softly, “Teacher Yan, sorry to bother you… would you mind blocking the scene with me first?”
Yan Wei might not believe it, but in all her years of acting, Jiang Mi had never felt so humble. But since she had messed up last time and really dragged the Best Actress down, she couldn’t afford any mistakes today.
Yan Wei turned slightly. Jiang Mi was a bit taller than her naturally, but Yan Wei was wearing “Qin Shui’s” high heels, so now she stood slightly above her.
From that angle, she could see Jiang Mi’s eyelashes, the bridge of her nose, and her lips with striking clarity.
Jiang Mi’s voice had a naturally soft, warm timbre. When she lowered her volume, it became especially gentle.
It matched her pheromones well—both gave off a warm, soothing aura.
Yan Wei was silent for a moment, then said calmly, “Come here.”
Jiang Mi went to change into a pair of high heels.
—
This scene took place at a marketplace. Liang Yongping and her fiancée Bai Xiao were shopping in a bustling street. Bai Xiao, in rare high spirits, insisted on buying Liang Yongping a dress. But just as Liang Yongping picked out a dress and headed to the fitting room, someone pulled her inside. While the two struggled in the cramped space, Bai Xiao waited outside and eventually called Liang Yongping’s name, realizing she was taking too long.
The scene inside the fitting room was one of the key dramatic moments in the script.
By now, the surrounding area had cleared. Jiang Qu and the others were off in the distance giving instructions, occasionally casting a glance over.
It was relatively quiet here.
The fitting room was in an older-style county mall—no doors, just a thick, floor-length curtain.
Jiang Mi, holding the dress she was about to try on, walked toward the fitting room. Just as she touched the curtain, a pale hand reached out and yanked her inside.
Thrown off balance, she instinctively stumbled forward—falling directly toward Yan Wei, just like their first meeting.
Her hands gripped Yan Wei’s arms, barely stopping herself from colliding into her.
“I’ll use more force when we’re actually filming,” Yan Wei said.
Jiang Mi nodded and let go. “Okay, but I’ll definitely crash into you.”
Yan Wei replied quickly, “Just react naturally—I’ll push you here.”
She pointed to the wall beside them.
The curtain was only half-drawn. Jiang Mi followed the direction of her finger, shifted her feet, and stood where the wall was hidden by the curtain. Yan Wei stepped in front of her again.
Under the harsh white lighting, Jiang Mi could see the shadows cast by Yan Wei’s eyelashes. In Yan Wei’s pupils, she saw a reflection of herself.
“I’ll hold you.”
It was a plain, emotionless line. But Jiang Mi’s heart skipped a beat, and she instinctively replied, “Okay. Hold me.”
She thought: then Liang Yongping will resist.
Yan Wei gave her a look, then lowered her head slightly. Her palm rested lightly on the wall beside Jiang Mi, creating the posture of an embrace. Then she leaned in close and whispered one of Qin Shui’s lines in Jiang Mi’s ear.
A shiver ran down Jiang Mi’s spine again. The scent of brandy was even stronger than last time—richer, warmer. Her neck and arms broke out in goosebumps. Her fingers curled slightly, instinctively searching for something to hold onto.
Or someone.
“Perfect match” pheromones were really starting to affect her ability to focus at work.
“Almost ready—Yan Wei, Jiang Mi, get into position,” Jiang Qu’s voice called out from outside.
Before the sentence even finished, Yan Wei straightened and met Jiang Mi’s gaze. Then she stepped back quickly and said, “Even if they adjust the camera angles, the pacing stays the same. Remember it.”
Before Jiang Mi could thank her, Yan Wei had already exited through the curtain.
She took a few steps out, lifted her hand, and beckoned to Bai Qiu.
As her assistant approached, Yan Wei said calmly:
“Water.”
