A Little First Love Shock for the Demon Lord - Chapter 16.2
Ying Ning, sensing Minglou’s hostility toward Zhuzhu but still unsure what was going on, tugged softly on his sleeve and whispered,
“We really were just talking… Why did you hit her? Isn’t she your wife?”
Minglou’s heart skipped a beat. He quickly said, “I’m not even married—how could I have a wife?”
“Huh?” Ying Ning looked puzzled. “Then why did she say you were husband and wife? She even asked if I was angry…”
Minglou was so furious his teeth clenched. He wanted nothing more than to strangle Zhuzhu. But after a moment, he turned back to Ying Ning and asked, “Are you angry?”
Ying Ning answered honestly, “No. There’s nothing to be angry about.”
The more candid she was, the more suffocated Minglou felt.
He didn’t like that answer.
Because it meant she didn’t care.
And her indifference was precisely what made her so straightforward.
A strange frustration rose in him. With cold eyes, he turned toward Zhuzhu and cracked his neck threateningly.
“You damned spider. I’m going to slice you into pieces.”
As he spoke, he raised the Touying Blade and charged. Zhuzhu yelped and bolted from Ying Ning’s yard, laughing as she ran.
“Hahaha! This is too funny! Your Majesty, looks like Sister Ying Ning doesn’t care about you one bit!”
Veins bulged on Minglou’s forehead as he chased after her.
Ying Ning stood alone in the now-silent yard, dazedly watching the direction they vanished into.
Sigh… the demon realm really is a mess.
It didn’t take long for Minglou to catch up with Zhuzhu. With his blade at her neck, he radiated murderous intent.
Zhuzhu froze, peeking nervously down at the Touying Blade. In a soft, pleading voice, she said, “Your Majesty, I was just joking! You’re way too easy to mess with…”
Minglou nudged the blade closer to her throat and replied icily, “Do I look like I’m laughing?”
Zhuzhu pouted. “You’re not really the type who laughs often…”
“Shut up.” Minglou’s tone grew even colder.
Realizing she had truly angered him this time, Zhuzhu stopped begging. Instead, she straightened her back and said defiantly, “Fine, then kill me. But just so you know—my little spiders know everything. If I die, they’ll immediately report to Yu Qianxun that you’ve woken up… and that you’ve lost your power.”
Minglou sneered. “I’m not afraid of him.”
He raised his blade, ready to strike.
Zhuzhu shut her eyes tightly and yelled, “They’ll also tell him about Ying Ning! If that happens, Yu Qianxun will definitely come after her!”
Minglou froze.
He quickly pulled back the Touying Blade.
Zhuzhu clutched her neck and exhaled in relief.
That was way too close. This time I really pushed it too far…
Minglou stared her down, voice like frost. “You’re threatening me?”
Zhuzhu stepped back, creating distance, and answered without shame, “Yes. If I die, I’ll drag that girl you care about down with me.”
Minglou looked away awkwardly. He muttered in protest, “She’s just important to me. I don’t… like her.”
Zhuzhu smirked. “Don’t lie. I saw the way you looked at her—desperately hoping she cared about you.”
Minglou raised his blade again. “I’ll shut you up right now.”
“Go ahead! But if you care about Ying Ning at all, you better not!” Zhuzhu fearlessly pointed at the blade’s tip.
Just then, Lou Su appeared from behind a tree and whispered, “Your Majesty, please calm down. We might be able to use Sister Zhuzhu. If she joins us, it’ll be easier to deceive Yu Qianxun.”
Minglou seethed but managed to restrain himself.
He lowered his blade, restored his usual icy expression, and asked, “Zhuzhu, what do you want?”
“Oh? So, you do realize I have a request?” Zhuzhu raised her chin proudly.
“Speak.”
Zhuzhu twirled with joy and shouted, “I want you to marry me! I want to be the Demon Lord’s wife—the most noble woman in the entire demon realm!”
Minglou’s face remained expressionless. “Impossible. If that’s what you want, I’ll abdicate and let you be Demon Lord instead.”
With that, he sheathed the Touying Blade and disappeared into thin air.
Zhuzhu stared at the spot where he had vanished. A moment later, she stomped her feet in frustration.
“Minglou! Just you wait! If you dare make me unhappy, I’ll report you to Yu Qianxun! I’ll even capture Ying Ning and hand her over to him! Let’s see what you’ll do then!”
Watching her rant to the air, Lou Su sighed and walked off, full of despair.
I should probably start drafting a will before Yu Qianxun comes to kill me…

That night…
The night was quiet, stars scattered across a dim sky, the moon pale behind drifting clouds.
Ying Ning sat by the window reading a storybook. From time to time, she glanced outside toward the closed window.
It was already late. Minglou still hadn’t returned.
Or… maybe he wouldn’t return at all tonight.
She rested her chin on her hand, lost in thought.
Suddenly, a tall figure appeared outside the window.
The moment she saw him, Ying Ning instinctively smiled and stood up to open the window.
Minglou had just touched down. He looked up at her with slight surprise. “You knew it was me?”
“Yeah,” Ying Ning nodded, her smile sweet and eyes bright. “It’s strange, but every time you’re near, I just know it’s you.”
The night was warm, her cheeks were slightly flushed, and her smile glowed like soft moonlight.
Minglou’s voice softened without him realizing: “Then you really are amazing.”
Ying Ning tilted her head, looking behind him. “Where’s Zhuzhu? Did you two make up?”
“Make up?” Minglou frowned at the phrase. “We were never close to begin with. What’s there to make up?”
“I thought you were friends,” Ying Ning said.
“We’re not.” His answer was curt.
Ying Ning remembered him saying earlier that he had no friends.
Her smile faded, and her lashes lowered.
Sensing her sudden silence, Minglou frowned. “What’s wrong?”
She hesitated, then asked softly, “You said you had no friends… What about me?”
Minglou paused. “Do you want to be my friend?”
Ying Ning lowered her gaze, fiddling with the hem of her sleeve. “You’ve always helped me. I’ve helped you too… I thought we knew each other well enough to be friends.”
Minglou thought for a moment. Then, in his usual cold tone, said, “You’re not my friend.”
Ying Ning puffed out her cheeks, eyes glinting with frustration and hurt. She looked adorably annoyed.
Minglou’s heart skipped. He cleared his throat awkwardly and added, “You’re my little treasury.”
That again.
Ying Ning pouted, then turned to fetch some silver from her drawer. She walked back to the window and slapped the coins into Minglou’s arms.
“Fine! Then from now on, I’ll call you my little pretty boy!”
With that, she huffed and slammed the window shut.
