A Little First Love Shock for the Demon Lord - Chapter 6.2
When Minglou remained silent for a long while, the demon lost patience. “I don’t care who you are… If you get in my way, you die!”
Ying Ning looked anxiously at Minglou and whispered, “Can you beat him?”
Minglou had already formed a plan. He didn’t answer, but asked instead, “Did the person who gave you the talisman teach you any other uses for it?”
Ying Ning thought carefully, then nodded. “He said if I’m ever completely cornered, I can chant the eight-character incantation to save my life.”
“Good.” Minglou’s voice was steady. “When I raise my hand to block the demon, say the incantation.”
The demon was already attacking—curses and sand surged toward them.
Minglou mustered his remaining power and raised his hand.
Ying Ning, gripping the talisman tightly, chanted, “Heaven concealed, earth embraced—Heaven and Earth form a cage!”
Before finishing the last word, she suddenly grabbed Minglou’s hand.
He turned back, shocked.
A blinding light burst from the talisman, so intense the demon had to shield his eyes.
When the light faded and he looked again—
The two of them had vanished.
Only the Yinglong talisman lay quietly on the ground…
The so-called “life-saving eight-character incantation” refers to a mechanism within the divine tablet: when the bearer is in mortal danger, the tablet activates and shelters them within a protective barrier inside the tablet itself.
Minglou had assumed that whoever gave Ying Ning the divine tablet would’ve taught her how to use this escape technique. That’s why he planned for her to hide inside the tablet—he would only need to carry the tablet away, which would be far easier than fleeing with a living person.
But plans never keep up with change…
Now, Minglou stood inside the dark barrier of the divine tablet, speechless. It was pitch black all around.
He hadn’t expected Ying Ning to pull him into the tablet.
Looking at Minglou’s expression, which had gone cold with disbelief, Ying Ning suddenly felt uneasy. She hesitated, then asked cautiously, “Did I do something wrong?”
Minglou gave her a frosty look and snapped, “You shouldn’t have dragged me in!”
Ying Ning looked at him, eyes confused. Then she lowered her gaze and murmured, “I’m sorry. I just… I was afraid you’d be in danger if I left you behind.”
“You—” Minglou opened his mouth, wanting to scold her for being a fool, but the words caught in his throat. After a pause, he waved his hand irritably. “Forget it. I’ll rest for a bit here. We’ll leave once I’ve recovered.”
Still worried, Ying Ning asked, “Since I brought you in… is it possible I brought that thing in too?”
Arms crossed, Minglou shut his eyes and replied coolly, “That nightmare demon doesn’t have the ability to enter the divine tablet.”
But something still didn’t feel right.
In the past, when his magic was at full strength, it would’ve been easy to force his way into the divine tablet. But now, with his power so badly depleted, how had he managed to come in without any resistance—just by Ying Ning pulling him in?
Frowning, Minglou cracked one eye open and quietly glanced at Ying Ning.
She was blinking up at him, and caught his glance. “What’s wrong?” she asked softly.
Minglou immediately closed his eyes again and replied in a flat tone, “The nightmare demon can’t get in. But if it smashes the divine tablet from outside, we’ll be trapped in here forever.”
Ying Ning’s heart, which had only just calmed, jumped again. “That’s… not good.”
Hearing the worry in her voice, Minglou opened his eyes and asked, “Are you scared?”
“A little,” Ying Ning admitted with a sigh.
Seeing her dejected expression, Minglou was silent for a moment. Then, in a tone that tried too hard to sound indifferent, he said, “Don’t worry. He won’t destroy the tablet. If he’s set on making you his prey, he’ll guard the tablet and wait for you to come out. Besides, if the divine tablet were to break, the person who gave it to you would sense it and come for you.”
Ying Ning nodded in understanding, then asked softly, “Once you’ve rested… can you drive him away?”
This time, Minglou didn’t answer.
The truth was, he couldn’t defeat the nightmare demon right now. The only thing he could do was escape with Ying Ning.
But as the Lord of the Demon Realm, the fact that all he could think of was running away—that was humiliating beyond words.
His expression darkened again, and his gaze turned sharp as he looked at Ying Ning.
His magic had clearly been drawn into this woman. Wouldn’t it be easier to end this all in one move?
Ying Ning, puzzled by his suddenly hostile look, met his eyes without flinching. She didn’t seem afraid at all.
He glared. She stared right back.
Neither of them blinked. By the count of five, Minglou had already looked away, defeated once again.
Forget it. The little golden vault was timid. This space was cold and dark—if she got scared and sick, he’d still be the one to deal with it.
The silence between them grew awkward.
Trying to break it, Ying Ning asked gently, “I still don’t know your name. What should I call you?”
Minglou turned his back to her and flicked his sleeve arrogantly. “You’re not worthy to know my name.”
Ying Ning wasn’t bothered by his attitude. Instead, she teased, “You keep referring to yourself as ‘this master,’ so I guess I’ll just call you that.”
Minglou turned back furiously. “I do not refer to myself as ‘this master!’”
Seeing how flustered he got over something so small, Ying Ning couldn’t help but giggle softly. Her smile seemed to melt some of the tension in the air.
“Then just tell me your name,” she said lightly. “I won’t call you whatever I like.”
Minglou looked at her, then quickly turned away again. His voice remained aloof: “What, you think just because you ask, I’ll tell you?”
“I’m asking nicely,” Ying Ning replied cheerfully.
Minglou hadn’t expected such a straightforward reply and was briefly stunned.
Ying Ning looked at him patiently, waiting for his answer.
After a long silence, Minglou sighed internally, once again defeated. Finally, he replied, though still with a grumpy look.
“Listen closely. My name is—”
But before he could finish, a wave of overwhelming drowsiness hit him.
He shook his head to stay awake, but his eyelids grew heavier with each breath.
Don’t tell me… I failed to block the nightmare magic earlier?
This was bad.
The world around him blurred. As darkness pulled him under, he clenched his teeth and cursed.
“Damn it…”
And then, before Ying Ning’s eyes, his body collapsed—like a fallen mountain—into unconsciousness.
