A Love Letter Written to You - Chapter 19
Chapter 19
The driver dropped Ji Yu off outside the residential complex. She got out and strolled alone toward Leng Ying’s home.
On the first day she moved in, Leng Ying had already registered all of Ji Yu’s information with the property management.
“……”
As she walked, the moonlight spilled across the pavement. Watching the shadows cast by the moon and the streetlights, Ji Yu suddenly let out a soft, silly laugh.
How was she not afraid I might be a bad person?
Leng Ying always said Ji Yu was a bright, shining sun who lit up her suddenly darkened world.
But… in Ji Yu’s eyes, wasn’t Leng Ying the same?
A sunflower is born to follow the sun.
The jingle of her earrings danced with the rhythm of her footsteps, closer… and closer.
She looked up—the lights in the home were on.
Ji Yu suddenly held her breath, inhaled gently, and slowly walked the final stretch of the long road.
Leng Ying had indeed left the lights on.
She was waiting for her.
Ji Yu fell into her embrace, and in that moment, she didn’t want to think about anything at all.
Leng Ying gently shook her, “How much did you drink?”
She carried Ji Yu to the sofa and poured her a cup of warm honey water. Ji Yu looked at her and smiled, reaching out to tug at the hem of her shirt, murmuring, “Ying Ying… Jie jie… Ying Ying…”
Leng Ying tilted her head in confusion, reaching out to touch her forehead. The temperature was normal, but her face was flushed red.
So she fed Ji Yu a little water.
The sweetness of the honey water slid down, making Ji Yu’s eyes even more dewy. As Leng Ying leaned in to help her drink, Ji Yu took the opportunity to press against the skin between her face and the exposed shoulder and neck, whispering, “Ying Ying…”
“Hmm?”
On an early spring night, where do I go to find my Ying Ying?
Suddenly, in that moment, Ji Yu felt like all her petty worries were unnecessary.
It wasn’t about forcing Leng Ying to do the variety show with her.
She would find her own way to split herself up, piece by piece… and fill every spare corner of Leng Ying’s life.
She wanted her own life to be filled with traces of Leng Ying too.
Would a lifetime be enough?
But she hadn’t even received a promise of forever yet—how could she dare to talk about lifetimes beyond this one?
Leng Ying gently ran her fingers through Ji Yu’s hair—those strands of golden-blonde sliding softly through her cool white palms.
“Sleep for a while,” she said.
She brought over a blanket, tucked Ji Yu in, then picked up her notebook and sat on the carpet beside the sofa.
A small nightlight cast a soft yellow glow in the living room.
Within minutes, Ji Yu had fallen into deep sleep.
Her phone slipped from her hands.
Leng Ying removed her Bluetooth earphones and placed them back into the case.
The phone screen was frozen at the moment the Bluetooth disconnected—
“?”
Leng Ying picked up the phone.
That image…
A variety show?
She exited the video and returned to the app’s main page.
“Our Life: Lovers Season.”
“…?”
Leng Ying looked puzzled.
Why was Ji Yu suddenly watching a variety show?
And this variety show, no less?
She glanced at the still-sleeping Ji Yu, then exited the video app and opened her browser history.
Ji Yu had been searching for info on Our Life Season 4.
Scrolling further down—there were searches about Ren Meng.
Leng Ying: “……”
With Ji Yu sound asleep, her gaze could finally roam across her face without restraint.
So… was Ji Yu hoping they’d do the variety show together?
Leng Ying had never wanted to appear on a reality show.
But if it was with Ji Yu… if it was what Ji Yu wanted…
Then she could do it.
In her time with Ji Yu, her soul had already broken free toward a new world. She was no longer a butterfly trapped in its cocoon—she had the strength now to dance again, to once more stand in the public eye… with her friend by her side.
Leng Ying raised her hand and brushed a stray lock of hair from Ji Yu’s cheek.
She thought back to just minutes earlier.
Ji Yu had been standing outside the door, wearing the clothes she had picked out for her, her cheeks flushed pink from the alcohol, and had fallen right into her arms.
And she had caught her.
Just as, many years ago, Ji Yu had once caught her.
This one seems really good
