A Love Letter Written to You - Chapter 22
Chapter 22
After signing the contract with Director Pan and learning the identities of the other three guest pairs, Sister Qun’s expression grew complicated. “If you had told me earlier…”
“If I told you earlier, would you still have hesitated?” Director Pan chuckled. “No way, right?”
Sheng Jia Qun replied, “Not quite. After all, it was Leng Ying who decided to join the show.”
She fully respected Leng Ying’s right to make her own choices. And since Leng Ying had now decided to participate, it shouldn’t matter who the other guests were… right?
Director Pan reassured her, “The show’s main storyline revolves around the interactions between the four guest pairs. The production team won’t deliberately guide the narrative toward any bias.”
“But you have live broadcast segments,” Sheng Jia Qun said, eyeing the signed contract in her hand.
“Does that make a difference?” Director Pan replied. “Live or not, it’s all in front of the camera. At least my show has some conscience.” He shrugged. “Jia Qun, looking forward to working together. I’ll send you Xiao Su’s contact later—she’ll coordinate with you on early promotion and the recording schedule. The official taping starts next week.”
“OK. Looking forward to working together.” Sheng Jia Qun saw Director Pan out and then called Leng Ying to tell her the news—though she couldn’t quite tell if it was good or bad.
…
When the call came, Ji Yu was in the middle of coaxing Leng Ying, trying to convince her to move into Jingming Pavilion. She argued that since the show might film in their home, it wouldn’t look good if the current place was captured on camera.
Leng Ying smiled at her. “The paparazzi already know where I live.”
Ji Yu didn’t respond, but the look in her black-and-white eyes clearly asked: Then why not move?
“Moving back and forth is such a hassle,” Leng Ying replied. “What am I supposed to do, move every time someone comes to visit?”
Ji Yu: “I think that’s reasonable.”
Leng Ying tapped her lightly on the head. “I think it’s unnecessary.”
Fine then.
Ji Yu handed her the phone. “It’s ringing—it’s Qun-jie.”
Leng Ying answered. Her brows furrowed slightly. “Mm, I see. Got it. It’s fine.”
The faint scent of oranges surrounded her. After hanging up, Leng Ying met Ji Yu’s curious gaze and said, “There are four pairs of guests on the show. We’re the last pair.”
“Oh—” Ji Yu asked quickly, “Did she mention who the others are? Do we need to be cautious?”
So sharp.
Leng Ying smiled faintly. “No need to be cautious.”
Ji Yu asked again, “Then what was Qun-jie calling to remind you about?”
“Because one of the other guests is a little awkward for me,” Leng Ying said. “You’ve probably heard of her—Ren Meng.”
Ji Yu’s eyebrows shot up. “She’s on the show too?!”
Leng Ying was just about to respond when she noticed that Ji Yu’s bristling energy softened. Ji Yu seemed to realize something: “This season is about friendship, so she must be coming with her friend.”
“….” Leng Ying’s expression turned even more subtle.
She got up and went to the fridge to get some honeydew melon.
“Want some melon?”
“Yes!” Ji Yu sat on the small round stool, waiting for Leng Ying to serve her.
Leng Ying picked up a piece and popped it straight into Ji Yu’s mouth.
“Mmmff?”
Ji Yu chewed while tilting her head. “Mmm-hmm.”
Leng Ying smiled. “Wouldn’t it ruin the suspense if I told you now?”
“…Alright.” Ji Yu was a little disappointed but didn’t try to dig deeper—though if she really wanted to, she could easily find out.
Now that it was confirmed they would be on the show, and with the program schedule in hand, Ji Yu wrapped up her work and gave herself a small break.
In truth, there wasn’t much reason to go out of her way for a vacation.
According to what she had told He Ruixiang, she was simply focusing on her design work. Her assistant had already been selected, so whether she went to the company or not didn’t really matter. With a corporation the size of Lì Group, it would be a joke if things couldn’t run without just one person.
This one seems really good
