A Love Letter Written to You - Chapter 24
Chapter 24
Compared to Leng Ying, Ji Yu was more of a newcomer in the entertainment world. After asking both of them for their thoughts, Sheng Jiaqun decided to handle Ji Yu’s variety show arrangements herself—as long as she was already working with Leng Ying, helping Ji Yu was no trouble. Plus, Leng Ying seemed genuinely happy about it.
The show had assigned a liaison named Xiao Su. Sheng Jiaqun had worked with her before and gave her a good review: “I’ve asked Xiao Su to look after you both a little. Once filming starts, if you have any special requests, you can ask her for help.”
Leng Ying was checking the suitcases Ji Yu had packed for the two of them. She replied, “Got it.”
Ji Yu flipped through the schedule: “We have a warm-up interview in two hours, then two days of promotional events, and the official filming starts the day after tomorrow… The first shoot lasts a full week.”
“Right,” Sheng Jiaqun confirmed. She already knew the schedule by heart. “You won’t have your phones for a whole week. Make any necessary arrangements for work or home ahead of time.” Then she added reassuringly, “Of course, if there’s an emergency, you can still contact the outside or be contacted. No need to worry too much.”
Sheng Jiaqun smiled gently. “Just think of it as a phone-free vacation you two good friends are taking together—one where you can be fully present.”
At her words, Ji Yu couldn’t help but imagine it: “…That actually sounds lovely.”
Leng Ying stood and agreed, “Mm.”
“Jiaqun, should we head out?” Ji Yu asked.
“Yes, let’s go,” Sheng Jiaqun got up. “The warm-up interview won’t take long. Once it’s done, I’ll treat you two to a nice meal. One last feast before you leave the city.”
After spending a few days together, Ji Yu and Sheng Jiaqun had grown quite familiar. Now, any work-related updates were shared directly in their three-person chat group.
Since Sheng Jiaqun was so warmly inviting them, Leng Ying didn’t refuse this time. She glanced at Ji Yu and nodded in agreement.
Ji Yu slung an arm around Leng Ying’s shoulder and joked shamelessly, “Jiaqun, if you’re buying, Ying and I are definitely picking the most expensive place!”
Sheng Jiaqun raised an eyebrow. “Even though your big sis here has elders to care for and juniors to support, I can still afford a meal. Don’t hold back!”
Leng Ying chuckled, “Jiaqun.”
“…Alright, alright,” Sheng Jiaqun rolled her eyes dramatically. “Thanks to Teacher Leng Ying, I’ve made a pretty penny. I can definitely afford dinner.”
“You hear that?” Leng Ying turned to Ji Yu. “Don’t hold back later.”
“Mmm~~” Ji Yu dragged out her reply in a playful tone, grabbing Leng Ying and pulling her toward the door. “Let’s go go go!”
Sheng Jiaqun, lagging one step behind: “?”
…
There were four guest pairs in total, and the warm-up interviews were scheduled at different times.
As Director Pan put it, letting the guests meet too early would kill the sense of anticipation between them—even if everyone had already tried to find out who else would be on the show.
Since Leng Ying and Ji Yu were the last to confirm their participation, their warm-up shoot was also scheduled last. As soon as they arrived at the filming location, they were ushered into wardrobe and fitted with special costumes and feathered masks.
Once dressed, the staff led them to the shooting studio.
White silk ribbons cascaded down from above, and the two elegant figures slowly made their entrance.
Director Pan subconsciously held his breath.
Yes!
Yes, yes, yes!
Excited, Director Pan gave them a brief on the blocking. Leng Ying listened and nodded, Ji Yu did the same. Both said they had no issues, and while Pan wasn’t 100% reassured, since they seemed confident… might as well go for a take.
Leng Ying and Ji Yu moved to their starting positions, and the camera began rolling.
The ribbons brushed lightly against their bodies before fluttering away. Leng Ying walked forward calmly and steadily toward Ji Yu.
Ji Yu, in contrast, started off seated on a tall stool. As she heard footsteps approaching, she kicked off the stool and began running toward the sound—
A completely different vibe from Leng Ying.
The ribbons tangled around her eager limbs, slowing her down, making her stumble as she moved forward.
Like crossing endless mountains and rivers.
But in the end, they met.
Their hands, separated only by a sheer veil of white silk, touched. Their slightly curled fingers hinted at a desire to intertwine.
“—Perfect!”
Director Pan reviewed the footage and was very pleased: “Absolutely perfect. One take is all we needed.”
(Unlike another pair who had to reshoot at least ten times…)
Getting the perfect scene in one go made Director Pan incredibly happy. His tone softened noticeably. “Next is a ten-minute solo interview. You two will be filmed separately. Over there—your names are on the doors.”
As they walked out of the set, Ji Yu whispered, “Based on previous seasons, the warm-up interviews usually try to set some traps.”
“Not worried,” Leng Ying replied. “I believe in our chemistry.”
Ji Yu nodded in agreement. “Fair enough. I’ll follow your lead.”
This one seems really good
