A Pair of Evil Women's Love - Chapter 33
Chapter 33
“Fu Yilan.” Gu Jingjing walked over.
Fu Yilan put away her phone. “Jingjing?”
Gu Jingjing looked Fu Yilan up and down. Each group’s second public performance had a different style, and naturally, new costumes. Class D’s dance was a fiery and lively Korean girl group style.
The outfits were a mix of red, white, and black. They wore one-shouldered, two-piece tops, red-and-black skirt-shorts with a tight little leather belt, black knee-high socks, and black heels with red soles.
Youthful, hot, and eye-catching.
Gu Jingjing: “You’re very pretty.”
Fu Yilan smiled. “Thank you. You’re very pretty too, Jingjing.”
Gu Jingjing gestured to the big screen. “It’s Class C’s performance. Want to watch together?”
“Sure.” Fu Yilan gave a small laugh.
The big screen showed a video of the Class C trainees having virtual conversations with their family and friends. The scene looked very warm, and the trainees watching in the waiting area were visibly moved, some even tearing up.
Playing this in front of the trainees was a very effective way to raise morale.
Gu Jingjing turned her gaze away. The other trainees from Class A gathered behind her, forming a circle and looking at Fu Yilan.
Chen Na moved closer to Fu Yilan and tugged on her arm gently. “Yilan…”
Fu Yilan turned, feeling like she was looking at a group of bullies. She smiled to herself. “What’s wrong?”
Gu Jingjing: “I heard you were pretty pathetic during your interview the other day.”
Fu Yilan was stunned, then looked around. She gave a friendly reminder, “Jingjing, there are cameras here, and it’s being live-streamed.”
Gu Jingjing waved her hand, and the others from Class A scattered. They paired off, looking like they were just watching the screen and chatting normally.
Fu Yilan: “Wow.”
Gu Jingjing continued her mockery. “Go on and laugh. Just don’t cry later.”
Fu Yilan took a deep breath. “My friends and family are in the audience.”
Gu Jingjing’s smile froze.
Fu Yilan shrugged. “Jingjing, you must not understand marketing.”
Gu Jingjing: “…”
Fu Yilan turned off her microphone, clapped her hands, and said in an innocent tone, “First, I’ll pretend I have no family or friends to make the fans feel sorry for me. Then, at the live performance, a long-lost friend will suddenly appear and scream out my name during my dance. When that scene airs, I’ll cry two teardrops in my post-show interview. I can’t even imagine how exciting the online reaction will be!”
Gu Jingjing: “…”
“You’re despicable!” Gu Jingjing spat.
Fu Yilan made sure her voice could only be heard by Gu Jingjing. She shrugged. “Isn’t that how you market a persona?”
Gu Jingjing was furious and about to retort, but Class C’s performance was over. They were on stage being interviewed by the host, waiting for the audience to vote. At the same time, the broadcast announced that Class D should get ready.
Fu Yilan raised her hand, smiled, and waved goodbye to Gu Jingjing as she headed to the waiting area.
(You, find that friend of Fu Yilan’s in the audience!)
Fu Haitang: “…”
Fu Haitang was a little bewildered when she saw the message. How did Gu Jingjing know Fu Yilan had family here?
Should I reply?
I’ll reply.
Fu Haitang typed with her head down: (Miss, I’m not on set, sob sob sob.)
(Useless!) Gu Jingjing was completely enraged. (Come pick me up after the show!)
Fu Haitang: (Copy that!)
After a few messages went back and forth, Class D took the stage.
The host, holding his script, smiled as he approached them. “Come, come, come, these are the girls everyone’s been waiting for. Let me introduce them one by one. Chen Na!”
The entire venue erupted in applause. Fu Rongdie clapped with an amused expression from the mentor’s seat, then turned and waved, signaling for even more applause.
“Li Qingqing.”
“Fang Qian.”
“Yuki.”
“Nami…”
As the host called each person’s name, their interview clip would play. Each was 90 seconds long. As it got close to Fu Yilan’s turn, the audience members who could stand on their tiptoes all did.
Fu Haitang finished the last sip of her cola, cleared her throat, and got ready.

-
- (Sisters in the audience, you have to be ready! Scream your lungs out!)
-
- (The prequel broke my heart for Lanlan. The family in the audience must stand their ground!)
“And now, the last person to be introduced.” After reading off each name, the host suddenly built suspense. “This trainee is probably meeting the audience for the first time, right?”
Audience:
-
- “Ahhhhhhh!”
-
- “Lanlan!”
-
- “Lanlan!”
-
- “Lanlan!”
Comments:
-
- (Stop dragging it out! Don’t hold back my daughter’s screen time!)
-
- (Wifey!!!!)
-
- (I’m going crazy!)
The host put a finger to his lips, signaling for the audience to be quiet.
The audience went silent.
Then the host said, “She’s…”
“Ahhhhhhhhh!”
Ji Xiaotong: “Ahhhhhhhhhh Mommy!”
“Ah—” Fu Haitang was caught off guard and punched herself in the chest. She immediately caught up with the rhythm. “Fu Yilan!”
On stage.
Fu Yilan stepped out, bowing to the fans in each section of the audience. At the same time, her interview clip played on the big screen.
Interview Clip:
“Did your family know you were coming to the competition?”
Fu Yilan: “I don’t.”
In the audience, Fu Yilan bowed deeply to the left side. The audience on the left yelled wildly, “Lanlan, you have us!”
Interview Clip:
“Oh? You don’t know, or you don’t have family?”
“Why are you asking?”
On stage, tears welled up in Fu Yilan’s eyes. She quickly walked to the right, forcing a smile as she bowed to the audience on that side. “Thank you, everyone.”
Interview Clip:
Fu Yilan lowered her eyes. “I’m sorry, my parents have passed away.”
“…What about brothers and sisters?”
Fu Yilan gave a bright smile. “I don’t have any.”
In the audience:
Fu Yilan stayed in a deep bow to the front audience for a long time.
The fans’ hearts broke. They sobbed uncontrollably.
Ji Xiaotong covered her mouth and cried loudly. “It still hurts my heart to watch my Mommy again.”
“It’s okay. We’re here. Remember to perform well in a bit,” Fu Haitang said, patting Ji Xiaotong’s shoulder.
Suddenly, Fu Yilan’s interview clip ended, and the entire stage went dark. In the silence, the music began with a sigh from Fu Yilan, a perfect transition from her final clip. The music started flowing smoothly!
What an amazing choreographer! Fu Haitang felt goosebumps all over!
The song was a Korean track. The lights came on, and in the seductive sound, the girls appeared one by one. The high heels hit the ground with a rhythmic thump, thump, thump, in sync with the song.
Fu Yilan sang the opening line: “Bad, girl.”
It was like a sigh, a whispered secret. It was a low murmur that tickled the ears, making the audience scream. But Fu Yilan was obviously a little shy. She only had those two words for the opening, and after singing them, her cheeks flushed. She pursed her lips and began to dance.
Comments:
-
- (Ahhhh! You’re bewitching me!)
-
- (I’m going to engrave these two words and listen to them on repeat!)
-
- (Waaah, please stop. Our Lanlan baby only has a few lines. Can you let her record a solo song?)
-
- (Fu Yilan fans are so annoying. This isn’t her part. Can you quiet down and give the other fans some space?)
Fu Yilan’s popularity was visible to the naked eye. Her fans’ screams were clearly a tier above everyone else’s. Fang Qian gritted her teeth. She couldn’t control her expression as she spun, her eyes filled with jealousy.
When they changed positions, Fang Qian shoved her shoulder hard. Fu Yilan’s foot landed a half-step off. Her fingers trembled slightly, but she quickly regained her composure. Luckily, no one noticed.
A group dance wasn’t a solo show. If one person made a mistake, the whole team was at risk!
“Control your person!” Fu Yilan warned as she brushed past Li Qingqing. “Or we’ll all go down together.”
Ji Xiaotong stared at the big screen. “Hey? Is Mommy talking?”
The novel’s plot in her mind told Fu Haitang what was happening on stage. She frowned, her eyes locked on Fu Yilan, her fists clenched, praying that nothing would go wrong.
…Li Qingqing didn’t listen to Fu Yilan’s warning. She sneered, and her high heel stomped on the top of Fu Yilan’s foot. Fu Yilan instantly broke out in a cold sweat!
“Fu Yilan!” Fu Haitang screamed, drenched in cold sweat.
…The top of her foot felt like it was being licked by flames. The intense pain made it impossible for Fu Yilan to hold her pose. Every step she took was like walking on hot coals.
Suddenly, Fu Yilan’s leg gave out. She couldn’t perform the move!
Fu Haitang’s palms were sweating.
Thank goodness.
The female lead always finds a way out of danger.
Fu Yilan changed the choreography on the spot. She used the momentum to drop low, her fiery red skirt flaring out. Her thigh muscles tensed, and she quickly lifted Chen Na by the waist, raising her over her head.
Chen Na’s eyes almost popped out of her head! When did this difficult lift get added to their rehearsal?!
The drum beats vibrated, and the rhythm became more intense. The place where her foot was stomped felt like it was being burned with every move!
The clicking of the heels on the floor became more frantic. A fine layer of sweat broke out on Fu Yilan’s taut stomach. She bit her lower lip and spun, her facial expression no longer under her control. The audience in the venue might not have seen it, but on the live broadcast, the camera had captured her pained expression more than once.
The last move was a solo, one-footed spin, but… Fu Yilan was about to collapse.
Ji Xiaotong: “Something’s wrong. What do we do, Fu Haitang!”
“…Xiaotong, just hold on,” Fu Haitang whispered to Ji Xiaotong. She then pinched the soft flesh on the inside of Ji Xiaotong’s arm, squeezing it tightly with her thumb and forefinger!
Ji Xiaotong let out a pig-like shriek. “Ahhhhhhhhhh!”
On stage.
Fu Yilan’s head snapped over.
The mentors on the panel were startled and stood up.
The live camera immediately panned over. Fu Haitang held up the sign she had prepared in advance, which read: Your sister is here, you’re not alone!
“Hahahahaha.”
The entire audience burst into laughter.
Fu Haitang yelled, “You can do it!”
Fu Yilan was at a loss whether to cry or laugh, but for some reason, she felt a massive surge of strength. She managed to hold on for the last 10 seconds of the one-footed spin.
She held on.
The entire venue erupted in applause. Fu Yilan was drenched in sweat. The camera panned over to get a close-up of each person. The full makeup and lipstick couldn’t hide the paleness of Fu Yilan’s face. She swayed, then strategically fainted in Chen Na’s arms.
Is she faking it? Fu Haitang’s anxious heart relaxed. Thank goodness. But those two troublemakers, Li Qingqing and Fang Qian, it looks like they have to go.
