A Pair of Evil Women's Love - Chapter 59
Chapter 59: A Foxy Omega and a Flustered Alpha
The hot springs trip was supposed to be a relaxing getaway, but for Fu Haitang, it was anything but. She’d been up all night and her exhaustion was etched on her face with a fresh pair of dark circles. In contrast, Fu Yilan looked completely refreshed, like a vixen who had just drained the life force out of someone. She sat at the breakfast table with Ji Xiaotong, full of energy.
Ji Xiaotong nudged Fu Haitang, “What’s wrong? Didn’t you sleep last night?”
Fu Haitang, who had her face buried in her arms, looked up at Fu Yilan. Their eyes met, and Fu Yilan’s ears turned a faint red. “What are you looking at me for?”
“I’m looking at a monster that steals people’s life force,” Fu Haitang grumbled.
“…Cough cough!” Fu Yilan choked on her hot porridge and started coughing.
Fu Haitang wearily patted her on the back. “Oh, I’m just too tired. I must be seeing things.”
Ji Xiaotong muttered under her breath, “How could you be so wrong? You scared me. I really thought there was a monster.”
Looking at her watch, Fu Haitang said, “It’s almost time. Let’s go after we eat.”
Ji Xiaotong immediately protested, “Wait! It’s almost eleven. I heard they have charcoal-grilled lamb chops for lunch. Can’t we eat before we leave?”
“The company’s team-building bus leaves at eleven. If we don’t go now, do you want to get stuck with them?” Fu Haitang replied.
Fu Yilan put down her chopsticks. “I’m full.”
Ji Xiaotong frantically ate and drank her fill. The one-day pass to the resort included all food and beverages. Leaving early was a shame, so even Fu Haitang grabbed two bottles of Evian water to take with her.
…
A Fateful Coincidence
“We’re here, we’re here!”
“Wow, this place with the green tiles and gray stones is so beautiful!”
Several cars arrived at the entrance of the resort. A group of people with various-sized backpacks got out and were led up the steps by staff. The late summer day was clear, with a constant symphony of cicadas. The resort was built against a mountain, and after driving for ten minutes, they had to walk up a hundred steps to get to the hotel. At the end of the stairs was a winding Chinese-style corridor.
They had arrived too late last night to appreciate the scenery, and now leaving, they felt a bit of regret. Fu Yilan took a deep breath and noticed Ji Xiaotong was taking pictures of her, so she struck a couple of casual poses. The two stood on the steps, waiting for Fu Haitang to check out.
“Let’s go,” Fu Haitang said, walking quickly out with her wallet and car keys. As she took a few steps, she saw a succession of familiar faces appearing from below the slope.
They came early? Oh no!
Fu Haitang immediately turned and ran, grabbing Fu Yilan’s hand and pulling her back.
“What’s wrong?” Fu Yilan asked, confused.
“The company people are here early. We have to take another way…” Fu Haitang replied.
Ji Xiaotong, still holding her phone, stared at Fu Haitang’s retreating figure. “Fu Haitang, why are you running? Where are you going?”
Fu Haitang froze. Fu Yilan watched in silence.
“Haitang?”
“Hey! Did you hear that? I think Director Fu is here too!”
Conversations could be heard from below. A few curious people ran up the stairs. “Director Fu!”
The long, open corridor left Fu Haitang with nowhere to hide. She was caught red-handed. Cursing Ji Xiaotong under her breath, she quickly let go of Fu Yilan’s hand.
Fu Yilan raised an eyebrow and turned to face her colleagues from the TV station.
“…Yilan is here too. How are you with Director Fu?” The two people who had run ahead were dumbfounded. One by one, the others caught up and were also shocked.
Sini, who was at the back, said, “I told them they must have heard wrong. She’s such a workaholic. She even told me to book a photography studio for her today. How could she be here? …Why are you here?”
The team building was only for the planning team on the 23rd floor. The post-production, advertising, and other departments were still at work. The planning team’s trip was meant to be both fun and productive.
“I… I thought about it and decided I had to join our team’s ‘brainstorming session’,” Fu Haitang explained dryly. “So I came early.”
A brainstorming session was the planning team’s weekly meeting where everyone could freely share their creative ideas. It was an open and equal environment, and they would vote on the most innovative ideas to implement.
Fu Haitang never missed these meetings. The only difference was that this time, she was forced to participate.
“Then…” Everyone’s eyes shifted to Fu Yilan.
Fu Yilan smiled. “My sister and I came on a trip. We ran into Director Fu by chance. I didn’t expect you to be having a planning meeting here.”
“That’s great!” Sini clapped her hands. “We just happened to be missing a facilitator! It’s perfect that Haitang is here!”
A facilitator was the moderator of the brainstorming session, responsible for keeping the meeting on track.
Fu Haitang was surrounded by her subordinates and reluctantly pushed to the front. She had checked out just minutes ago. Going back now would be…
“You guys go check in first. I don’t feel well. I’ll go rest over there,” Fu Haitang said, pointing to the side and winking at Fu Yilan.
Fu Yilan, standing on the edge of the crowd, simply twitched the corner of her mouth.
“Give me your ID!” Sini reached out and snatched Fu Haitang’s wallet. “I’ll do it for you.”
Fu Haitang’s face went blank. She grabbed and pulled back. “I’ll do it myself!”
“Let me do it,” Sini insisted, her face straining. Finally, she couldn’t hold it in and shouted, “What are you so guilty about?!”
Fu Haitang’s grip loosened.
Sini let out a gasp. “I knew it! Director Fu, you were trying to sneak off, weren’t you? The administrative staff paid for the tickets, so why did you take them? You’re so cheap! Everyone knows you’ll take any discount you can get!”
Fu Haitang was speechless.
Sini continued, “The administrative staff said you took three tickets! Where’s your family? Did you sell the tickets for cheap?!”
Fu Haitang was still silent.
In truth, her stinginess had improved since she became rich. Fu Haitang wanted to defend herself, but then she saw the look in Fu Yilan’s eyes.
Fu Yilan stepped in. “I’m the one who bought two tickets from Director Fu. The original tickets were too expensive, but the company’s group tickets are much cheaper. I’m sorry, I was trying to keep it a secret that Director Fu and I ran into each other by chance.”
Fu Haitang put her hands together in a pleading gesture. “Please give Director Fu some face and don’t spread this around.”
The others finally understood, but their opinion of Fu Haitang’s cheapness only grew. They’d heard that as an intern, she would even take two large bottles of drinking water home after work.
A hand rested on her shoulder. Fu Haitang turned to see Fu Yilan.
Fu Yilan asked, “When are we leaving?”
“After the grilled meat buffet,” Fu Haitang conceded, planning to leave discreetly with Fu Yilan after lunch.
The lobby was starting to get crowded with tourists and locals escaping the summer heat. Ji Xiaotong happily carried the luggage back, and the group was about to leave the lobby.
Suddenly, a wave of screams erupted.
“Teacher Lu!”
“Ahhhhhhh!”
Fu Haitang froze.
…
A Surprise Appearance and Lingering Secrets
[…Lu Jing came too? Fu Yilan was very surprised. She didn’t expect to run into him again on her relaxing trip.
Lu Jing was fully armed, his mask and hat covering him, but it wasn’t enough to hide his familiar face and tall figure from the entire country.
The Alpha stood out in the crowd, but he was clearly here for work. Bodyguards held back the crowd while three assistants negotiated at the front desk. They were there to film an advertisement.
A hot springs location?]
“Is there a nude scene?” a fan whispered, screaming.
Fu Haitang’s lips tightened. Before Lu Jing could spot Fu Yilan, she quickly pulled her away.
The TV station colleagues were all smart enough not to bother Lu Jing. They just asked his assistant, who they knew, for the filming location, promising to watch Lu Jing’s nude scene after they put their luggage away.
“There’s a nude scene with Lu Jing later,” Ji Xiaotong said, her eyes practically on fire. “Mommy… Yilan! Let’s go watch!”
Fu Haitang turned her back to them and played with her phone.
“I won’t…” Fu Yilan said, giving Fu Haitang a meaningful look.
“Hehe, you want to see it too, don’t you?” Ji Xiaotong said, winking at Fu Yilan, pulling and dragging her away.
Fu Haitang waited for thirty seconds and then turned around. The door was pulled shut. Fu Yilan and Ji Xiaotong had disappeared.
“…”
“Postpone the shoot by two hours,” Fu Haitang contacted the station. With half an hour until lunch, she decided to go back to her room and catch up on sleep.
[…The set was quickly prepared. A clear line was drawn around the pool, but people were too clever. Everyone gathered on the second floor, craning their necks to see Lu Jing touching up his makeup below.
The filming started ten minutes later. Fu Yilan listened to the sound of others drooling for half an hour.]
Fu Haitang was so tired that she fell asleep and could no longer see the contents of the book in her mind.
Fu Yilan frequently looked behind her, but Fu Haitang never showed up. “Are you still watching?”
Ji Xiaotong: “Huh?”
“It’s lunchtime,” Fu Yilan reminded her.
Ji Xiaotong looked at Lu Jing below and then at Fu Yilan. “Don’t you want to watch?”
Fu Yilan: “I’m more interested in the lamb chops.”
Ji Xiaotong frowned, following Fu Yilan with a backward glance every step of the way. Finally, she couldn’t help but catch up and ask, “Yilan, don’t you like Teacher Lu?”
Fu Yilan: “No.”
“Uh… I heard you two knew each other when you were kids and even made a lifelong promise?” Ji Xiaotong asked cautiously. “Do you really not like him?”
Fu Yilan stopped. Ji Xiaotong almost ran into her. She asked, “How do you know that Lu Jing and I knew each other before? Are you very close to Lu Jing?”
Fu Yilan was sure that she had only met Ji Xiaotong for the first time at Fu Haitang’s house. Why would Ji Xiaotong know about a childhood memory she had almost forgotten?
“I…” Ji Xiaotong looked guiltily at the space behind Fu Yilan.
Fu Haitang’s curly hair was tied back casually. She walked toward the two of them. “Have you seen enough? Let’s go eat.”
Ji Xiaotong tried to hide behind Fu Haitang, but Fu Yilan grabbed her wrist. “Explain it to me! Ji Xiaotong!”
“I told her,” Fu Haitang said, her face complex. “Don’t get emotional, Yilan.”
Fu Yilan frowned. “Really?”
“Actually…” Ji Xiaotong hesitated, but Fu Haitang pinched her wrist, stopping her.
Fu Yilan saw every detail of their interaction and was certain that Fu Haitang and Ji Xiaotong were hiding something. She narrowed her eyes and said to Fu Haitang, “I’ll wait for you to explain it to me yourself.”
With that, she turned and walked toward the restaurant.
Ji Xiaotong said to Fu Haitang, “Why didn’t you let me tell her! If I had been honest, and you told her about your ability to predict the plot, she would have believed me!”
“Unless you want Fu Yilan to think you’re crazy, I don’t want that,” Fu Haitang said. “Don’t ever bring that up again.”
Ji Xiaotong pulled away from Fu Haitang. “You and Mommy became good friends? There was no character like you in the book! You stole her protagonist’s halo, Fu Haitang. You’re obviously up to no good!”
Fu Haitang frowned. She gritted her teeth and, after a moment, made a decision. “Okay, don’t worry. I’ll be honest, but you have to give me time…”
Ji Xiaotong: “How long?”
“Next week,” Fu Haitang said, clenching her fist. “The day of Fu Yilan’s official debut.”
Ji Xiaotong: “I’ll believe you one more time.”
Fu Haitang gritted her teeth. After a while, she looked at Ji Xiaotong’s retreating back and muttered to herself, “She won’t debut. I can’t bear to let her…”
If the debut night was a key moment for the male and female leads’ relationship in the original book, then she just wouldn’t let it happen.
(To a friend)
(Miss Gu, I found Fu Haitang at the hot springs resort. She’s with Fu Yilan. The front desk has the registration information for their suite from last night. Here are the photos of the registration info. [Photo] [Photo])
(I also asked the hotel cleaning staff. Only two of the bedrooms were used. Even though one was aired out and the AC was on, the cleaning lady still found the smell of pheromones.)
(The scent was still strong three hours later. I suspect an Omega had gone into heat… Director Fu and Fu Yilan might be in an improper relationship.)
(Should I report this to the company anonymously?)
