A Pair of Evil Women's Love - Chapter 6
Chapter 6
There were four days left until the first group dance public performance.
There were three days left until this month’s estrus.
The tip of the pen went across the calendar. Fu Haitang tidied her hair and took her calendar to the conference room for a meeting.
Gu Jingjing messaged her. She had already learned that Fu Haitang had an editing meeting today and wanted Fu Haitang to edit more screen time for her.
It had been less than two days of filming, with hundreds of hours of material from various angles and perspectives. The ten-person editing team was rushing to get the first day’s footage edited by next week.
From production to the first episode’s airing was only one week. By the time of the first public performance, the first episode would have already aired, and the production team would tally online votes to choose a popular center position. The results of the online voting would also influence the direction of the show.
All afternoon, Fu Haitang was in the editing room fighting a hard battle.
As the sun set in the west, the trainees ate the most punctual dinner of the entire filming period.
Fu Yilan was serving herself food when a message came in on her phone.
(Miss Fu, may I see today’s menu?)
Fu Yilan raised an eyebrow. She looked around and chose bitter melon, cilantro, a free fried egg, and a cold dish of Houttuynia cordata.
The camera snapped a picture, and her finger gently tapped and swiped. Chen Na steered clear of Fu Yilan’s menu, and the other end of the phone quickly replied with a single word, “Yikes.”
Quite disgusted: (Houttuynia cordata! You’re actually eating that?)
Yilan replied: (It’s a healthy herb, good for reducing inflammation and heat. Teacher Fu, you should eat a few bites to prevent your pheromones from leaking. It wouldn’t be good for everyone.)
Fu Haitang: (…Do you have a big problem with my pheromones?)
Fu Yilan typed a line of text but before she could send it, she received another message from the other side.
Fu Haitang: (What’s wrong, does it make you unable to let go of it?)
(The scent of a crabapple flower. It makes people want to run away from it.)
Haitang received this message and scoffed. Her pheromones smelled great, and she was very careful. It was impossible for anyone to easily smell them.
Fu Yilan was talking nonsense. Fu Haitang picked up her phone. The phone was hot from too much footage transfer, and the heat made her palm tingle and feel numb.
Estrus.
Fu Haitang touched the back of her neck, thinking she must have gone mad. The only thing her mind kept replaying was the faint scent of orchids from Fu Yilan when she was close.
It was normal to want a woman during estrus, but was it normal to want an omega?
And that woman was Fu Yilan.
After the editing meeting, Fu Haitang went to deliver the script to the Class D mentor, Lu Jing. He had rushed back to the station as soon as he got off the plane and was in the makeup room.
When Fu Haitang handed over the script, she felt guilty looking at Lu Jing. She felt the awkwardness of a person who had coveted their superior’s partner and was now unable to face them.
“Teacher, please rest well. I’ll be going now.” Fu Haitang carefully closed the door. The male lead, an alpha, was devastatingly handsome, and he was the son of a wealthy family. He and Fu Yilan were simply a match made in heaven.
Her phone vibrated.
Gu Jingjing was blowing up her WeChat.
(What kind of menu did you send me?!)
(Bitter melon, Houttuynia cordata, and that cilantro?)
(I don’t like any of it! And that free egg from the cafeteria! A free egg! Who knows if it’s as bad as that lowlife, Fu Yilan! And you want me to eat it?!)
Fu Haitang immediately tried to calm her down: (Miss, these are all vegetables. Eating them every day will definitely help you lose weight. Fu Yilan eats an egg every day, so you can rest assured it’s safe. Please don’t skip meals, I’m worried about your health.)
Fu Haitang wiped the sweat from her brow. She put away her phone and went to the employee cafeteria for dinner. Fried chicken legs, braised pork, fried lamb chops. The TV station’s employee cafeteria was always a delight.
Fu Haitang took a picture and sent it to Fu Yilan, retaliating against her deliberate act.
Fu Yilan: (That looks delicious.)
Fu Haitang: (The lamb chop is crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The braised pork is soft and goes great with rice. One bite of the chicken leg and your mouth is filled with the satisfying taste of meat.)
Fu Yilan: (…)
Fu Yilan looked at the pitiful leftovers on her tray and then glanced at Fu Haitang’s dinner. She felt like she was just looking at a picture of food to satisfy her hunger. Her mouth watered, and even the bitter melon she didn’t like seemed delicious for a while.
(Did Gu Jingjing not give you any money today?) Fu Yilan asked.
This reminded Fu Haitang. There were still five minutes left of her meal. Fu Haitang took out her phone and opened a real estate app to look for a place.
“Cough! Cough, cough!” Haitang almost choked on her own saliva. A few-square-meter single room was 8,000 yuan!
She had thought she could upgrade her life, but in the end, she was still just a commoner. Fu Haitang didn’t give up. She filtered the price, setting it to 3,000 or less.
The results refreshed, and the location was now more than twenty kilometers away.
Fu Haitang: “…”
Ren Qing called: “You handle the filming tonight. I have to leave early.”
“Yes.” Fu Haitang cleaned up her tray and held the phone between her shoulder and neck, bored as she listened to Ren Qing’s instructions. She knew her leader was leaving early, but even if she was unhappy, she had to smile and show concern. “You don’t look so good today. Please take care of yourself.”
Ren Qing: “I don’t want what happened yesterday to happen again. Be more vigilant. Otherwise, even with your connections, I won’t be able to protect you.”
“I understand. I’ll keep that in mind.” Fu Haitang promised. After hanging up, she went straight to the practice room.
Tonight, there was another C-position filming at ten.
The estimated filming time was two hours.
She hoped to finish smoothly and get off work on time at twelve.
Fu Haitang brewed two packs of instant coffee, holding her cup as she headed to the practice room.
Seven o’clock.
In the Class D practice room, Lu Jing hadn’t arrived yet, and no one was there to explain the competition rules to the Class D members.
A colleague pushed Fu Haitang forward: “…”
“Don’t worry, the post-production team will blur our faces.”
“Hahaha.”
The trainees were laughing and joking.
“Teacher Fu, why are you so shy?”
Fu Haitang cleared her throat and announced the video assessment for ten tonight. “When the time comes, a few classes will assess together. The trainees from each class will perform the theme song with the trainees from other classes. The mentors will be in the studio backstage watching your performance to determine the C-position for each class’s formation.”
“Teacher…” Qingqing raised her hand. “I have a question.”
Fu Haitang: “Ask away.”
She glanced over. Fu Yilan was standing next to Qingqing. Although she didn’t live in the dorms, she still stayed with her former roommates during group activities.
She didn’t seem isolated.
Qingqing pointed to the whiteboard next to Fu Haitang. “This C-position selection seems a little different from this diagram of the standing positions.”
Suddenly, everyone’s attention was on the magnet-attached diagram of the standing positions for the first public performance.
Including Fu Yilan. The standing diagram was made up of a circle cut into several equal fan-shaped patterns. The fans were represented by different colored dots, but in the very center, there was a reserved concentric circle with three small crowns drawn on it.
Everyone had a guess.
—The C-position of the C-positions.
Fu Haitang smiled and said, “That’s right. From Class A to Class I, besides each class choosing a C-position, three people will stand in the crown positions in the very center of the stage. These three spots are only for contestants with true singing and dancing ability.”
“Then our Class D definitely won’t be able to get that position.”
“Yeah, there are so many people in Class A…”
“In the end, the best positions are still monopolized by Class A.”
Fu Haitang could only comfort them. “It’s fine. The members of Class A will be rearranged after the first public performance. There are many hidden gems among you who aren’t far behind Class A…”
Fu Yilan didn’t know when she had been pushed to Fu Haitang’s side. Half of the girls were surrounding Lu Jing, and the other half were asking Fu Haitang about the details of the upcoming audition.
Fu Haitang was overwhelmed by the questions. She finally managed to get away, and her phone rang again.
Gu Jingjing: (If Fu Yilan gets the C-position for Class D, you can get out of the TV station and out of the Gu family!)
Fu Haitang: “…”
She really didn’t know if Fu Yilan had gotten the C-position for the first public performance yet. The plot appeared as the timeline progressed, so she didn’t know much.
So Fu Haitang asked the System about it.
Ji Xiaotong: (Of course! The female protagonist shines, puts the female antagonist in her place, and from then on, everything goes smoothly, and she reaches the peak of her life. Isn’t that normal?)
Fu Haitang: “…”
Eight o’clock at night.
There were two hours left until the C-position selection.
Everyone was training with all their might. Including Fu Yilan.
“Number 56 is improving very quickly,” Lu Jing said.
Number 56 was Fu Yilan, the protagonist O. And Lu Jing, the male lead, had already noticed her in less than three days. He had even managed to change the bad impression Fu Yilan had created with her out-of-tune song during the initial show.
Fu Haitang hesitated and asked, “Teacher, do you think it’s possible for her to get the class’s C-position?”
“It’s not impossible,” Lu Jing said. “Her looks, figure, and level of effort have already surpassed too many people. I heard her discussion rate at the station is very high, and that’s the core of the show. Plus, her skills are not bad.”
Fu Haitang’s mind flashed back to Gu Jingjing’s vicious accusation, “If Fu Yilan gets the C-position, you can pack your bags and get out!”
Fu Haitang walked to the corner to look at her phone. Someone had already offered to buy the crocodile skin bag at half price and was asking her which courier to use.
Another sum of money was added to her account. Once you got a taste of a sweet deal, it was hard to go back. Fu Haitang hesitated for a moment and lowered her head to message Gu Jingjing: (I can have a cup of coffee with the manager and subtly hint that they should adjust the screen time.)
Gu Jingjing replied quickly: (You have received a transfer of 10,000.)
(Have a good cup of coffee. Don’t disappoint me this time.)
Fu Haitang: (Of course! You can count on me!)
-
- (You have received a transfer of 10.)
Fu Yilan raised an eyebrow: (What is it?)
-
- (Take the stairs from the production office and go down to the 22nd floor. The restroom there was just cleaned yesterday, so probably not many people know about it. You can use it.)
Nine-forty.
Lu Jing told the trainees to rest for twelve minutes so they could be ready for the upcoming assessment.
The 22nd floor omega restroom.
“What took you so long?” Fu Haitang leaned against the doorframe, tapping her watch with her finger. “It’s been over an hour since I sent you the message.”
Fu Yilan’s expression was unfriendly. She took out her phone and clicked on the transfer from Fu Haitang, saying mockingly, “Ten yuan. I think I shouldn’t have come.”
Oh~
What a fiery temper.
“That’s enough for three packs of instant coffee!” Fu Haitang said. They were both frugal and calculating. Their relationship was supposed to be like this, not something more. Especially when her estrus was approaching, she shouldn’t be thinking about things she shouldn’t.
