“Mom, you are the best! You are the one who understands me the most.” Jiang Yuetong wanted to rush over and give her a kiss, but decided against it to save time. Jiang Yuetong was frantically looking for a loose-fitting, butt-length dress in beige with a multi-layered mesh design. It featured classic sheer lantern sleeves and beautiful rose blossoms covering the front. It was absolutely Korean style and utterly fresh and sweet, perfectly complementing her fair complexion. Sweet yet playful, and paired with a set of peep-toe princess sandals, it was simply adorable. There was truly no time left. No matter how much Jiang Yuetong liked her long, curly hair, there was no time to style it. She had washed it last night and gone straight to bed, and now it was terribly frizzy. Styling it would take at least half an hour. Jiang Yuetong impulsively grabbed a mushroom-style wig and put it on. The soft yet fashionable reddish-brown new hairstyle immediately made Jiang Yuetong look trendy, giving her a sweet and lively appearance.

In less than ten minutes, Jiang Yuetong gave herself a thumbs-up in the mirror.

However, unlike usual, Jiang Yuetong didn’t apply any makeup today. She simply washed her face and grabbed her bag to leave, partly because of the time constraint, but also because of her confidence in her skin. For girls with good skin, just a touch of lip gloss is enough to charm people.

When Jiang Yuetong stood beside Chen Nan’s red BMW sports car, the window slowly lowered. Chen Nan had a cigarette dangling from her mouth, looking somewhat mischievous. “Wow, not bad. Right on time, within ten minutes. That truly exceeded my expectation. I didn’t think a girl could go from waking up to leaving the house in under ten minutes. Honestly, I was already prepared to run up to your door and knock.” Chen Nan looked at Jiang Yuetong with a playful expression.

Jiang Yuetong opened the car door and said expressionlessly, “Crazy.”

As Jiang Yuetong got into the car, Chen Nan immediately stepped on the gas and drove away. It was truly early; the sun hadn’t even risen, and the sky was still a light gray. Perhaps because she was used to getting up early for work, Chen Nan didn’t feel anything unusual about the time.

“Let’s eat first. What do you want to eat?” Chen Nan asked.

“What to eat? What can we eat this early? Fried dough sticks and soy milk will be fine.”

Chen Nan parked the car in front of Yonghe Soy Milk. After getting out of the car, Chen Nan realized something was wrong. Perhaps it was because the sun had risen, or perhaps she hadn’t noticed it earlier, but she stared wide-eyed at Jiang Yuetong, who had just gotten out of the car. “What are you wearing?”

Jiang Yuetong looked down at her clothes, then looked up at her a few seconds later, saying, “Clothes. What’s wrong?”

“What’s wrong? I’m sure I don’t have X-ray vision, which means the whole world can see your apricot-colored underwear, just like I can!” Chen Nan’s eyes bore into her like knives, as if Jiang Yuetong had just committed murder in front of her.

“What about it?” Jiang Yuetong frowned, truly not knowing why Chen Nan was so agitated.

Chen Nan forced herself to remain calm and said, “I can clearly see your bra and your belly button. It’s fine if I see it, but I want to ask how many more people you want to see it before you’re satisfied?”

“Ha!” Jiang Yuetong looked at her disdainfully, a relaxed, shallow smile on her face, forming a sharp contrast with Chen Nan’s tension and agitation. “I thought it was something serious. What’s the big deal! Isn’t dressing like this normal? You call yourself a ‘sea turtle’ (someone who returned after studying abroad)? Your thinking is ancient. Didn’t you see the roses designed on the front? It’s not as transparent as you say.” Jiang Yuetong looked down at her clothes again. To be honest, it was a bit sheer. She had only worn this dress once, at night, so she hadn’t noticed the issue, but with the sunlight now, it was indeed a bit too sexy. “Besides, why are you so anxious now? Why didn’t you say anything when I left my house just now! Your reaction is always so much slower than others.”

Chen Nan stared at Jiang Yuetong and said, “I didn’t notice before because the tint on my car window is too dark.” After speaking, Chen Nan sighed, got back in the car, and retrieved a pink, three-quarter-sleeve thin blazer. It was clearly Chen Nan’s clothing—the bold design reflected an air of competence and sharp precision. “Put it on. I don’t want you to be ogled by others.”

“I won’t wear it,” Jiang Yuetong frowned. “Do you know what the temperature is in Guangzhou today? You don’t expect me to wear this jacket running around, do you? Are you trying to roast me?”

Chen Nan stubbornly said, “No! You have to wear it, listen to me, put it on quickly.”

“But I don’t want to.” Jiang Yuetong swayed back and forth, but Chen Nan kept trying to drape the jacket over her. “What’s the big deal? It’s not that sheer. What are you afraid of…”

Chen Nan stiffened her face and growled, “Put it on quickly! I don’t want to argue with you here. You’re clearly in the wrong. Put this jacket on immediately! I don’t care how exposed other people dress. They can walk around naked for all I care, but you can’t!”

Seeing that she couldn’t win against Chen Nan, Jiang Yuetong obediently put the jacket on.

Seeing Jiang Yuetong comply, Chen Nan smiled slightly and pulled her into Yonghe Soy Milk. Jiang Yuetong mumbled softly behind her, “I spent ages looking for this outfit, all because you said you liked this style, and I ended up getting scolded for it. It seems like nothing I do for you works out—it’s a thankless effort.”

Chen Nan heard it and immediately understood what had happened. She didn’t turn her head, but she smiled genuinely.

After sitting down at a table, Chen Nan said, “Don’t wear such revealing clothes out in the future, understand? Unless it’s just you and me—then even more revealing is fine.”

Jiang Yuetong turned her head to look at Chen Nan and said, “I told you, I didn’t do it on purpose. It wasn’t clear inside the house. Besides, I don’t think there’s anything wrong…”

“Still talking back!” The corner of Chen Nan’s mouth curled into a faint arc.

“Hmph.” Jiang Yuetong smoothed her fringe and said no more.

After the two finished breakfast, the day had become very hot. The summer temperature in Guangzhou was no joke, and fine beads of sweat were starting to form on Jiang Yuetong’s forehead.

“It’s boiling. I don’t want to listen to your crazy theories. I’m taking off the jacket.” Jiang Yuetong was about to lose it.

“You wouldn’t dare!” Chen Nan quickly pulled Jiang Yuetong into the car and turned the air conditioning up to the maximum. Jiang Yuetong was no longer hot, but Chen Nan was shivering.

“There’s a Tianqi Department Store branch ahead. Let’s go pick out an outfit. However, the spending level there is incomparable to Tianqi International, and there’s no Tianqi International branch in this district right now. We could go buy clothes somewhere else; actually, it’s not necessary to always buy from our own company, but I always stick to the principle of keeping the wealth within the family…” Chen Nan turned her head and explained to Jiang Yuetong.

Jiang Yuetong leaned back against the seat and said comfortably, “No matter where we buy, you’d better be quick. Look, you’re getting goosebumps on your arms. If we don’t adjust the temperature difference, I’m afraid you’ll catch a cold.”

Chen Nan laughed. “Oh, Teacher Jiang, since when are you so concerned about me? You usually only care about yourself.”

Jiang Yuetong rolled her eyes at her and said, “Let’s just go to the Tianqi Department Store branch. My demands aren’t high.”

“Even if your demands aren’t high, we can’t settle.” Chen Nan drove forward. The navigation voice announced: “Turn left in five hundred meters. You have reached your destination: Tianqi Department Store, 45th Guangzhou Branch.”

Although the items at Tianqi Department Store were not as outrageously expensive as Tianqi International, they were still at a middle-to-high consumption level. Upon entering the store, Jiang Yuetong said, “I’m paying for my own things today. Oh right, I forgot to bring you the dress from last time today. Next time.”

“Bring it to me? Why would you bring it to me? First, I wouldn’t wear that style of clothes. Second, that dress was bought in your size and can’t be given away. Third, Tianqi International does not accept returns.” Chen Nan pursed her lips and continued walking.

The two took the elevator straight to the third floor, women’s fashion.

“You were the one who told me to give it to you,” Jiang Yuetong said.

Chen Nan sighed and said, “I really don’t know if you’re truly foolish or just pretending. Please replay the scenario in your mind. Under what circumstances did I ask you to return it to me?”

The elevator quickly arrived. They walked into an ONLY store. The saleswoman saw Jiang Yuetong and Chen Nan enter the shop and smiled as she said, “Welcome. Is there anything I can help you two with?” Chen Nan generally looked down on department store brands as low-end goods and rarely came to stores here. When she did, it was Tianqi International, so the clerk had no idea that the person standing in front of them was the granddaughter of Chen Yannian, who was famous throughout Guangzhou.

Chen Nan nodded slightly. “Bring the latest styles for this lady to try on.”

The saleswoman glanced at Chen Nan and said, “Okay.” Then she turned to look for clothes suitable for Jiang Yuetong.

Perhaps because of Chen Nan’s androgynous look, and her exceptional handsomeness, she attracted many eyes wherever she went.

Not far away, a salesperson in her 20s saw Chen Nan and gasped, her mouth forming an O shape. She whispered to the slightly older girl next to her, “Look quickly, isn’t that Chen Nan! I saw her on TV. There was an interview about her on Guangzhou News last year. She looks exactly the same; no changes.” The girl’s eyes were shining brightly.

“Chen Nan? News? Who is she? What does she have to do with us? Why are you so excited?” The older girl frowned.

“You don’t know Chen Nan?” The younger girl sighed. “You know Chen Yannian, right? She’s his granddaughter!”

“Oh!…” The older girl uttered a long, meaningful “oh,” then added, “You might be mistaken. It’s easy to mistake someone you only saw once on the news.”

“Impossible. Out of curiosity, I even Googled her. There’s a lot of news about her, and many photos. I can’t be wrong. Besides, among the ‘T’s, Chen Nan is considered the most handsome.”

“‘T’? What ‘T’?” The older girl asked.

“Ai! You wouldn’t understand even if I told you.” After saying that, the younger girl quietly approached Chen Nan, hoping to get a closer look at her.

“None of these clothes suit me. I like things a little sweeter, but these clothes look too mature. I don’t really like the clothes at ONLY.” Jiang Yuetong spoke honestly to Chen Nan.

“Not a single suitable one?”

“No.”

“Then let’s go.” Chen Nan took Jiang Yuetong’s hand and began walking around Tianqi Department Store.

Soon, Jiang Yuetong spotted a dress she liked very much. “If it were up to me, I would always shop at Tianqi Department Store. It’s affordable, stylish, and beautiful. Tianqi International is a bit overly luxurious. The clothes there are too formal in their design. Aside from the price, the style isn’t what I like. That dress from last time was beautiful to wear, but who would wear that out normally? Only people in your high society who often attend balls or social gatherings need to wear things like that.” Jiang Yuetong walked toward the dress as she spoke.
