A Paper Contract GL - Chapter 28
As Jiang Yuetong opened the door, Chen Nan said, “I’m not busy. No matter how busy I am, I’ll postpone it and wait for you.”
Chen Nan was telling the truth; she was indeed not busy. Her own company was already running smoothly, and only one real estate project required her attention, but it was temporarily shelved because she lacked the funds. As for Shi Ya Fashion, although Chen Nan owned half of the shares, she knew that Shi Ya was highly capable and could do well without Chen Nan’s help.
Shi Ya was sitting in the first-floor dining room of Chen Nan’s villa, eating breakfast with a preoccupied look, constantly glancing towards the stairs. She was waiting for Chen Nan to come down, but there was no movement. However, it was only nine o’clock, still early. Based on yesterday’s situation, Chen Nan wouldn’t come down until noon at least.
“Miss Shi Ya, is the meal I prepared to your liking?” the part-time cleaner asked solicitously.
Shi Ya nodded expressionlessly, “It’s not bad.”
“Oh, that’s good. If there’s nothing else, I’ll go clean the upstairs rooms.” The cleaner picked up a rag, ready to go upstairs.
“Wait a moment, Chen Nan hasn’t gotten up yet, which room are you going to clean?” Shi Ya asked, looking up.
“Chen Nan? She left early this morning. I saw her driving away just as I arrived.”
“What!” Shi Ya slammed her hand on the table, then slowly sat down, waving her hand, “Go ahead and be busy, you’re not needed here.”
The cleaner went upstairs without another word. Shi Ya’s look just now was quite frightening.
Shi Ya thought for a moment and then called Chen Nan’s phone.
Chen Nan was currently standing at the entrance of Jiang Yuetong’s classroom building, waiting for her. She picked up the phone when she saw the call.
“You’re up? Did you sleep well?” Chen Nan asked in a relaxed tone.
“Why didn’t you tell me when you left?” Shi Ya’s voice was cold.
Chen Nan laughed dismissively, “Why do I need to tell you where I’m going? I’m not an underage child who needs your guardianship.”
Shi Ya also felt that what she said was a bit much, and rephrased, “That’s not what I meant. I was already up and waiting for you to eat. If the cleaner hadn’t told me you had already left, I might have waited until noon, and I was afraid of disturbing you if you weren’t awake. It seems I’ve been thinking about you constantly, but you haven’t given me a single thought.”
Chen Nan got a headache hearing this kind of talk. She said calmly, “Don’t focus all your attention on me. You have many important things to be busy with. Shi Ya Fashion is in its early stages of development in China; there are too many things to handle.”
Shi Ya said unhappily, “Are you lecturing me?”
Chen Nan laughed heartily, “How dare I lecture you? You are such an outstanding entrepreneur, unlike me, who struggled for a few years and still has to act according to my grandfather’s mood. No matter how hard I try, all my efforts can be taken back with just one word from my grandfather. So, how do I have the right to lecture you? I’m just speaking from a partner’s perspective, after all, my money is invested there too, isn’t it?”
Shi Ya was speechless and only said, “When will you be back? I want to visit the largest fabric base in Guangzhou.”
“Oh… I’m afraid it might be a bit late. Why don’t you go first, and I’ll accompany you after I’m done. By the way, my car has a built-in GPS navigation system, so there shouldn’t be any problem going anywhere.” Chen Nan subtly refused. By the time she was done, it would probably be dark.
Shi Ya could only nod, “Alright then, be careful.” She then hung up the phone.
Chen Nan sat in the KFC across from the school, changed positions hundreds of times, and drank two glasses of milk, one cup of coffee, and one glass of orange juice before finally seeing the students of Jiang Yuetong’s school rush out in a swarm.
“Finally, school’s out.” Chen Nan said excitedly, but she didn’t walk out immediately. She waited until she saw Jiang Yuetong appear at the entrance before going out. Now there were many students, parents, and teachers. If she went out and waited at the entrance now, Jiang Yuetong would start yelling again. Chen Nan didn’t mind; she wished the whole world knew she and Jiang Yuetong were dating, but Jiang Yuetong was always so cautious… Wait, Chen Nan stopped at this thought, wondering, Does she really want the whole world to know she’s dating Jiang Yuetong? At least she didn’t want Shi Ya to know right now.
Chen Nan sighed and drank the rest of the orange juice in one gulp.
Another twenty minutes passed by the time Jiang Yuetong walked out. There weren’t many people at the entrance anymore, only a few parents picking up their students.
Jiang Yuetong looked around, unsure where Chen Nan was waiting for her. Suddenly, a hand patted Jiang Yuetong’s shoulder. Jiang Yuetong turned around, her eyes wide with surprise: “It’s you?”
The man was quite handsome, 1.85 meters tall, with a strong nose and a confident smile. “Yuetong, I really didn’t expect to see you here. You’re so much prettier than you were back then…” The man’s gaze lingered between Jiang Yuetong’s face and chest.
This handsome man was named Qi Bo. When Jiang Yuetong was in university, he had already graduated. They had been passionately in love for a year, but the relationship ended because Qi Bo left Guangzhou for work. This relationship was a big blow to Jiang Yuetong. Qi Bo had fulfilled all her fantasies about men, to the extent that all subsequent blind dates were immediately rejected because the difference from Qi Bo was too great. It was like one meal was shark fin and swallow’s nest, and the next was only potatoes and radishes.
Jiang Yuetong smiled knowingly, “Seven years have passed in a blink of an eye. How could I not have changed at all?”
“You remember clearly, seven years, just like I’ve always remembered that time.” Qi Bo looked at Jiang Yuetong with a longing gaze.
“Who are you picking up? Is it your child?” Jiang Yuetong asked.
“No, no,” Qi Bo immediately explained, “It’s my sister’s child.” Qi Bo then said, “You wanted to be a teacher since university, and now you’ve finally achieved your wish.”
Jiang Yuetong smiled, “And you, are you doing well?”
Qi Bo said, “It’s alright. I opened two real estate companies in Beijing, and now I’m back in Guangzhou to contribute a little to my hometown.”
Chen Nan’s voice abruptly cut in, “Do you want to contribute to your hometown, or do you want to seize the opportunity to make a huge profit? I really hate those hypocritical people who always like to cover their vulgar intentions with a cloak of false virtue.”
Qi Bo looked at Chen Nan, then at Jiang Yuetong, and asked confusedly, “Do you two know each other? May I ask who this is…”
Chen Nan smiled and said casually, “I am her girlfriend. Not a female friend, a girlfriend.” Chen Nan walked over, wrapped her arm around Jiang Yuetong’s slender waist, and said, “It’s getting late. I’m starving. What do you want to eat?”
Just then, Jiang Yuetong’s phone suddenly rang. Just as Jiang Yuetong was about to answer, she noticed something was wrong. She looked up and saw it was Qi Bo calling.
Qi Bo smiled, “You haven’t changed your number. Are you still waiting for me…”
Jiang Yuetong was a bit embarrassed, “No, I’ve just always been in Guangzhou, so I haven’t changed it. And I’ve used this number for a long time.”
“No need to explain. You still haven’t changed, still seriously explaining everything. Actually, there’s no need to explain anything. It looks like you’re still busy today. I’ll get going first. I’ll call you later and treat you to dinner.” With that, Qi Bo waved and left.
Chen Nan squinted as she watched Qi Bo’s retreating back, then looked sideways at Jiang Yuetong, “Give me an explanation.”
Jiang Yuetong’s gaze was evasive. She tried to hurry away, but Chen Nan grabbed her arm firmly, her tone hostile, “Why are you running? I asked you what’s going on with him! I want an explanation!” Chen Nan’s voice was loud, causing passersby to turn their heads.
“Can we talk in the car, please? Don’t argue on the street.” With that, Jiang Yuetong hurried a few steps and got into Chen Nan’s car.
Chen Nan got into the car and said, “Talk. I’m listening.”
“Talk about what? What is there to talk about?! He’s just my first boyfriend!” Jiang Yuetong’s voice was equally loud. She continued, “Who doesn’t have a past? Do you have to interrogate me like this? Have I ever asked you? Don’t just flip out over anything you see. That’s all in the past. We haven’t been in touch for many years.”
Chen Nan slowly turned her head to look at Jiang Yuetong, “How long did you two date? When?”
“We dated for a year, during my freshman year.”
Chen Nan was silent. Time seemed to stand still. Chen Nan thought for a moment, then suddenly asked unexpectedly, “Are your br3asts fake? How much did you pay for them?”
Slap! Chen Nan’s face was turned to the side from the force of the blow.
Chen Nan looked coldly at Jiang Yuetong, raising her hand several times to strike back but ultimately holding it still. “Who gave you the nerve to hit me repeatedly? This time is different from the last time, which was somewhat in jest. How do you explain this time?”
“You’re the one who’s sick! What’s wrong with running into a senior from university? What’s wrong with him being my first boyfriend? Did I flirt with him or act ambiguously? What right do you have to suspect and insult me!” Jiang Yuetong said heartbrokenly.
“I don’t believe a normal man dated you for a year and didn’t touch you. You went to bed with me after only two months, didn’t you? So you didn’t sleep with him? Even if it wasn’t that fast with him, surely you slept together after half a year? I don’t believe that man was gentlemanly enough to willingly not touch you. I’ve never seen any man that foolish. Besides, look at this softness, this size,” Chen Nan said, aggressively kneading Jiang Yuetong’s br3asts with no light force. “He wouldn’t be tempted? Is that possible?” Chen Nan nodded as if having an epiphany, “I always thought your expression was strange that night, clearly enjoying it but pretending to be inexperienced…”
Jiang Yuetong gave Chen Nan a cold look and threw down one sentence, “I never realized you were such a narrow-minded person.” She then opened the car door and got out, walking forward without looking back.
Chen Nan immediately got out of the car and shouted, “I’m not narrow-minded; I hate being deceived by others.”
Chen Nan stomped her foot in anger, got back into the car, slammed the steering wheel, and stepped on the gas. She drove up next to Jiang Yuetong, rolled down the window, and said, “Get in.” The tone was a cold command.
Jiang Yuetong didn’t even look at her.
Chen Nan braked to a stop, got out of the car, pulled Jiang Yuetong into the passenger seat, locked the doors, and then got back into the driver’s seat.
“What are you doing! I want to get out.” Jiang Yuetong violently beat the car and kept tugging at Chen Nan’s arm.
“If you want to die quickly, try messing around a little more.” It wasn’t that Chen Nan would dare to kill Jiang Yuetong, but Chen Nan was currently driving at 100 kilometers per hour. If Jiang Yuetong kept pulling her arm, the car might very well end up under the wheels of a construction vehicle in the next second.
Afterward, Chen Nan remained silent, driving forward at high speed until she reached a sparsely populated road. With a screech—the car slammed to a stop.
Neither of them spoke first. Chen Nan stared coldly ahead, while Jiang Yuetong turned her face away, refusing to look at her.
