A Rough Man Has A Handsome Husband (BL) - Chapter 11
When Li brought out another bowl of egg custard, her frown finally eased.
Tang Xiaofu frowned slightly, scooping out half of his egg custard and placing it into Li’s bowl.
“Mom, you should eat too. Later at noon, I’ll bring lunch to the field.”
Delivering food wasn’t a tiring task, so Li agreed without hesitation.
After finishing the meal, Wang Yi pushed aside his bowl and chopsticks, claimed he wasn’t feeling well, and went back to lie down.
Li’s eyes darkened. “Ever since the eldest daughter-in-law got pregnant, she’s spent half of the past month at her mother’s house. Other wives work until they give birth, but she just hides in her room and refuses to lift a finger. It’s unacceptable.”
Since Tang Xiaofu had never experienced this kind of situation, he didn’t comment recklessly. Instead, he quickly took the clay water jug from Li’s hands.
“Mom, let’s bring lunch over. Dad and the others must be starving.”
“Oh, look at me! I was too busy being angry and forgot the time.” Li quickly picked up the basket and walked out. As they walked, she reminded him, “Listen, if you ever have a child in the future, you can’t just lie around all day. If the baby grows too big, childbirth will be even more painful.”
Clearly, she was worried about the eldest daughter-in-law.
Tang Xiaofu chuckled. “I knew it—Mom, you may have a sharp tongue, but you have a soft heart.”
Li rolled her eyes. “Your eldest brother insisted on marrying her. If she’s spoiled, that’s his responsibility.”
“Haha! Mom is right. Whoever chooses their spouse should take responsibility.”

Farmers usually ate only two meals a day, but since it was the busy planting season, they had an extra meal at noon.
Lunch was simple but hearty—stir-fried cabbage, yesterday’s lamb and radish soup, and handmade noodles sprinkled with freshly chopped green onions. The aroma was mouthwatering.
Tang Xiaofu carried the water jug, occasionally nodding and smiling at villagers who greeted him along the way.
When they reached the fields, he could see from a distance three men working hard under the sun, drenched in sweat.
The Tang family owned twenty acres of fertile land, a legacy from Grandpa Tang, who had earned it through years of traveling and trading.
By noon, the wives of many families had come to bring lunch to their husbands.
Tang Xiaofu climbed onto a boundary stone, waving his arms and shouting loudly:
“Dad! Big Brother! Second Brother! Xiangbei! It’s time to eat!”
A friendly neighbor, Aunt Zhang, chuckled and walked over.
“Xiaofu, your face looks much healthier now, and you seem more energetic too. Looks like you’ve fully recovered.”
Li smiled. “He may look quiet, but he’s actually very lively. Otherwise, why would he have fallen into the river just for a piece of fish? Luckily, Doctor Li has amazing medical skills.”
Aunt Zhang, who was good friends with Li, naturally helped defend Tang Xiaofu’s reputation.
“All the kids in the village dream about catching the fat fish in that river. Every year, quite a few of them fall in.”
A rumor is best cleared with the help of the people.
With their family friends supporting the story, everyone quickly agreed—Tang Xiaofu had simply fallen into the river while trying to catch a fish.
This not only restored his reputation but also praised Doctor Li at the same time.
Li was sharp—her emotional intelligence was top-notch.
Tang Xiaofu listened closely, enjoying the gossip, and mentally gave his mom a thumbs-up.

Just then, Zhao Xiangbei walked over, standing sideways to block the sun from shining on Tang Xiaofu. He grinned.
“Xiaofu, the sun is strong. Stand under the tree so you don’t get heatstroke.”
The tough man’s skin was flushed from the sun, his sweat-soaked clothes clinging to his body. Big drops of sweat rolled down his tanned skin, and his dark eyes were fixed intently on Tang Xiaofu.
“I-I got it. Here, drink some water and rest.”
Feeling embarrassed, Tang Xiaofu turned his head away, his face heating up.
As he handed over the water jug, he secretly added a few drops of spiritual spring water.
Goodness… this guy’s gaze is as scorching as the sun.
