- Chapter 1 - Opening My Eyes to a Bunch of Tough Guys
“Tsk! You sickly ghost! You’ve already married into another family, yet you shamelessly cling to Scholar Lin. So cheap!”
“Drown, drown! Heh, I just gave you a little push. You’re the one who couldn’t stand properly—serves you right!”
“Once you’re dead, I’ll be the scholar’s wife!”
…
Tang Xiaofu stood by the river in his dream. Suddenly, someone pushed him from behind, and he fell into the water. That person cursed him for being shameless, called him unlucky for lacking a pregnancy mark, and said he’d never have children.
No way. He was a man—how could he give birth to a child?
Right now, his throat was burning, so dry that it hurt.
In a daze, he felt himself being half-held in a man’s embrace. Warm lips passed sweet water into his mouth, instantly soothing the pain in his throat.
“Xiaofu, don’t be afraid.”
The man’s voice was deep and pleasant. His chest was strong and solid. Tang Xiaofu rested against it, feeling like he was still in some kind of dream.
With great effort, he opened his eyes. Through his blurry vision, he saw the man’s sharp jawline and the slight movement of his Adam’s apple.
For the first time, the faceless men in his dreams had a real face. And it was quite handsome.
Tang Xiaofu’s eyelids felt as heavy as a thousand pounds. That single glance took all his strength.
Before his consciousness faded again, the man fed him a bowl of medicinal soup. It was incredibly bitter.
Maybe the medicine worked, because Tang Xiaofu’s mind became clearer, and strength slowly returned to his body.
When he fully opened his eyes, he was completely shocked.
The unfamiliar ancient-style room, the dull gray bed curtains, the wooden beams and thatched roof, even the windows were covered with wooden blinds propped open by a small stick, letting in only a sliver of light.
Did… did he time-travel?!
Tang Xiaofu’s eyes widened. He turned his head abruptly to the side.
The man beside him had a square-shaped face, thick brows, and sharp eyes. He looked strong and heroic. His bright white teeth made him seem a bit silly.
He was tall and well-built, with long limbs and tanned, healthy skin. His arms had a slight curve of muscle.
Seeing Tang Xiaofu wake up, the man’s face lit up with joy. He quickly helped him sit up against the headboard and asked anxiously, “Xiaofu, you’re finally awake! Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?”
Tang Xiaofu frowned and shook his head. His mind was flooded with unfamiliar memories, making his head throb as if he had been hit hard.
The room fell silent. Even the sound of a pin dropping could be heard.
The man sighed, his eyes dimming. “Then… just rest for now.”
With his head lowered, he looked like a sad, abandoned big dog.
For some reason, Tang Xiaofu felt a bit guilty. His mind was still chaotic, but before he woke up, those sharp voices from his dream were clear as day.
Something was definitely off about this whole situation. He coughed lightly and said, “My throat hurts. I want some honey water.”
The man’s head snapped up instantly. He grabbed Tang Xiaofu’s thin hand and grinned foolishly. “Alright! I’ll go heat some water. You rest—I’ll be right back.”
He carefully laid Tang Xiaofu down before opening the door and leaving.
Tang Xiaofu turned his head and saw the man’s tall, sturdy back as he walked away. His steps were slightly uneven, as if he had a limp.
He needed to figure out what had happened—fast. Closing his eyes, he lay flat on the bed and began sorting through his new memories.
After a long while, he let out a sigh.
In his past life, he was just an overworked office worker in the 996 grinds, a lifelong single dog.
The rare time he got to rest, he was soaking in a bath, playing a farming game on his phone—then, zap! He got electrocuted and died.
In all his youthful dreams, it was never soft, cute girls that appeared—it was always tall, muscular men. That was how he realized he wasn’t straight.
So, he gave up on marriage and kids, and just focused on work.
And now? He had time-traveled straight into it.
This world was called Da Qi, a completely fictional dynasty. Its technology level was similar to the Han Dynasty in history.
Strangely, there were no women here—only men and “ger” (哥儿).
Although gers were slimmer and more delicate than regular men, their bodies were otherwise the same. But they were responsible for giving birth to children.
A ger usually had a red birthmark on their forehead, known as a pregnancy mark.
It was said that the redder and more centered the mark, the better their fertility.
Unfortunately, the original owner of this body had a barely visible pregnancy mark, almost nonexistent.
The gossipy villagers all claimed he couldn’t have children.
