A Rough Man Has A Handsome Husband (BL) - Chapter 4
Now that Tang Xiaofu was in ancient times, being a ger who was deeply loved by his family, it was already rare that he could take in a husband instead of marrying out and suffering under a mother-in-law.
No matter what, he had to protect his current life.
Tang Xiaofu subtly pulled his hand back, lowered his head, and took another sip of the honey water. It was sweet.
“Don’t be reckless. Even though I remember that person’s voice, we have no evidence right now, so there’s nothing we can do. It’s better to plan carefully. For now, let’s not tell Father and Mother, so we don’t worry them for nothing.”
He was afraid this simple-minded man would act without thinking and alert the enemy.
“Alright, I’ll listen to you. But when you go out in the future, make sure to go with someone. Don’t be alone.”
Zhao Xiangbei nodded. Tang Xiaofu was usually quiet, but he seemed to have a good mind for things.
Even though Zhao Xiangbei was a man, his wet nurse had taught him since childhood to listen to his wife.
His wife was soft and delicate, so naturally, whatever he said was right.
Since the plan was working, Tang Xiaofu let out a long breath. He took a bite of the soft poached egg, finally easing his hungry stomach.
Looking at the man sitting across from him, staring at him with big black eyes, looking like he wanted to say something but hesitated, Tang Xiaofu coughed lightly. His ears felt warm as he explained, “Don’t overthink it. That scholar Lin and I have only seen each other twice from afar in the village. I didn’t even get a clear look at him, let alone have anything to do with him. Besides… I don’t like that kind of weak scholar.”
For some reason, the more he explained, the hotter his ears became.
He couldn’t help but sneak a glance at Zhao Xiangbei.
This man was tall and strong, with broad shoulders and a narrow waist. His arms were long and powerful, and even though he wore simple rough cloth, he had an imposing aura when he wasn’t smiling. But when he grinned, showing a row of bright white teeth, he looked quite silly.
A top-tier handsome man.
In his past life, he wouldn’t have even gotten the chance to meet someone like this once in a month of hard work—definitely not a loss!
Hearing his words, Zhao Xiangbei blinked and let out a silly laugh. Then, without thinking, he blurted out,
“Then… what kind do you like?”
Cough cough cough!
Tang Xiaofu choked on his drink, his face turning red. He glared at Zhao Xiangbei in annoyance.
“Bah! We’re already married, so what’s the point of asking? Hurry up and take the bowl back to the kitchen!”
“Ah! Okay!”
Zhao Xiangbei quickly took the bowl, grinning widely, and hurried out.
Tang Xiaofu watched him leave and noticed that his left leg moved unnaturally. There were bloodstains on his pant leg. His brows furrowed slightly.
He was the kind of person who would repay kindness a hundredfold.
After thinking for a moment, he took an empty bowl from the table, slipped into his space, scooped out half a bowl of spirit spring water, diluted it with boiled water, and then found a small porcelain bottle of wound medicine from the cabinet.
Zhao Xiangbei had just returned after putting away the bowl. As soon as he walked in, he sat down in the same spot, looking at Tang Xiaofu eagerly.
“When you were unconscious, Father and Mother took the ox cart to town to find a doctor, and my second brother went with them. Just now, I asked Niuwazi at the village entrance to run over and tell them that you’re awake.”
Tang Xiaofu nodded. The original host’s parents truly loved him, and this incident must have scared them badly.
He glanced at Zhao Xiangbei’s left leg and said calmly, “Lift your pant leg and let me see how bad it is.”
Zhao Xiangbei hesitated and sneaked a look at Tang Xiaofu’s face before finally sitting down and rolling up his pant leg. There was a long, bloody wound about half the size of a palm. He scratched his head and muttered, “I went hunting in the mountains and must’ve gotten scratched by a branch. It’s nothing serious. If I wash it with well water, it’ll be fine in a few days.”
Tang Xiaofu’s heart skipped a beat when he saw the bloody wound. Hearing Zhao Xiangbei speak so casually, he rolled his eyes.
Without another word, he pulled Zhao Xiangbei to sit on a stool, carefully washing the wound with clean water and applying medicine.
Zhao Xiangbei quickly waved his hand in protest but didn’t dare move. “This medicine is too good to waste on me. It’s just a small wound, really—”
