- Episode 57 - Can I Steal Hanakaede-chan?
Wednesday, October 5
“Here’s the school trip event outline!”
“Please choose two members from each class to be members of the school trip committee!”
Executive members wearing armbands stood at the teacher’s desk before morning homeroom.
The executive members in charge of planning and managing the event wear armbands and come to the classroom like this whenever they have something to announce.
“Oh, domestically this year?”
“Last year’s seniors caused some problems.”
“Ugh, what a poor draw.”
The students were talking freely while looking at the outline of the event posted on the whiteboard in front of them. Just hearing the word “school trip” made my stomach tighten. Mizuhara Shizuku sighed quietly.
“Oh no, oh no, oh no!”
Wakamatsu ran noisily into the classroom and sat down in his seat, fixing his messy hair.
While wiping his face with a hand towel, he opened his chest to cool down. He thought about calling out to the classmate diagonally behind him, wondering if he was being too defenseless, but he decided it was none of his business.
“Hana Kaede, it’s dangerous if you leave it open like that.”
Wakumura, sitting in the seat in front of Wakamatsu, gently warns him.
“It’s okay, it’s okay!”
“No more… No more.”
How could anything possibly be okay when you could even see your collarbone?
With a wry smile, Wakumura stretched out his arm and buttoned up Wakamatsu’s shirt. Mizuhara felt a sense of intimacy between them, but pretended not to care and continued facing forward.
“Did you oversleep today?”
“The work on the school trip was so hard that I fell asleep.”
“Is it harder than a class match?”
Wakamatsu sits at his desk and looks at the wind.
“Well, the school trip is run by second-year students only.”
“Aren’t the first-years going to help out?”
“He’ll help me, but he won’t be coming with me on the day.”
The school trip is an event that only the students in the relevant grade can participate in. I felt that it was inevitable that the burden on the second-year executive members would be heavy.
“You said earlier that you were recruiting members for the school trip committee.”
“We don’t have enough manpower, and we need help with guiding each class.”
“Maybe I should run for office?”
“Oh! That’s great!”
Wakamatsu clasps his hands together to express his gratitude to Wakumura.
As he was listening to their conversation, the homeroom teacher, Ms. Fuchigami, entered the room and started morning homeroom. Wakamatsu raised his hand and asked if they could set aside some time to choose the school trip committee members. The homeroom teacher readily agreed, and as a member of the executive committee, she stood up at her desk.
“Does anyone want to be on the school trip committee?”
Just as she had declared, Chisato Wakumura was the first to raise her hand, followed by Kanzaki, who was also enthusiastic about the organization, and her boyfriend Masuda. Surprisingly, the number of participants exceeded the capacity.
“Well then, I guess I’ll get off…”
“Why? Why? Let’s talk it over and decide!”
Two girls raised their hands and exchanged words.
After checking the time, Fuchigami left the conversation with an evasive “Maybe we’ll meet again in homeroom on the way home.”
“Well, two girls are fine.”
After taking his seat, Wakamatsu gently called out to Wakumura, who was sitting directly across from him.
“Shizuku-chan, aren’t you going to be on the school trip committee?”
During lunch break, as I was stuffing my cheeks with a chocolate brownie, a classmate sitting next to me started talking to me. I nodded my head while chewing.
“Why?”
“Maybe because I was satisfied with running the sports day.”
Making up a suitable excuse, Mizuhara took a second bite.
“Hanakaede, there’s someone you like.”
My heart skipped a beat.
“That’s what a girl who got dumped said.”
“…Is it okay for you to tell me about that?”
“Yeah, I think rumors will spread anyway.”
Mizuhara’s heart is pounding.
“I wonder who Hanakaede likes?”
“Now… who could it be?”
Feeling a little guilty, I pretended not to know anything and let it go.
We can’t talk about ourselves here. He may be trying to hide it, but I’m sure Wakumura has special feelings for Wakamatsu.
“Ah! Eat a proper meal instead of chocolate brownies!”
“noisy”
When Wakamatsu returned from the store, the first thing he noticed was what he was looking at.
“Here, I’ll give you some yakisoba bread.”
“I’m telling you.”
“Look! I also got some curry bread.”
Wakamatsu displays the loot on Mizuhara’s desk.
I can’t accept her kindness over and over again. Let’s go to the store and get some leftovers. Mizuhara told her that he would get some himself and got up from his seat. After Mizuhara, for some reason, Wakumura Chisato also got up from her chair.
“I’m going too, so let’s go together.”
“What, you’re not going to eat the yakisoba bread?”
Leaving Wakamatsu, who was clutching a yakisoba bun, I went out into the hallway with Wakumura, heading towards the shop near the first-floor entrance.
“I know everything about you, Hanakaede-chan.”
Mizuhara was so shocked that she almost tripped down the stairs. Without even trying to cover it up, she turned to face Wakumura. Looking at her face, it was clear that she was not lying.
“That we were dating, and that we’re not dating now.”
“…Since when…”
“Don’t cry if he gets taken by someone else.”
“picture”
He can’t hide his shock at the sudden confession.
“Hey, Shizuku-chan.”
Wakumura pressed his body against Mizuhara’s and put his mouth close to her ear. The sweet scent of osmanthus tickled Mizuhara.
“Can I steal Hanakaede-chan away?”
Her glossy lips, painted with pink lipstick, catch the eye.
When he shifted his gaze, his eyes met with Wakumura’s, who had a serious expression on his face. A strong feeling was glimpsed in his large eyes, and Mizuhara became frightened.
“Spend more time with Hanakaede and make your presence known.”
“One day I’ll even repaint the person you love, Kaede-chan.”
Mizuhara was upset and didn’t know if what she was saying was sincere or not. He froze and couldn’t reply.
“Is that okay with you, Shizuku-chan?”
She asked, looking confused.
“…No.”
He didn’t say it in words.
However, Mizuhara Shizuku had heard the voice of her heart.
