A Time-Traveling Zombie Romance (GL) - Chapter 34
I was stunned for a moment, then smiled: “Hehe, I like her too.”
“I don’t mean that kind of like. I mean the kind of like between you and me,” Yun Xi said, frowning slightly.
“What!? How is that possible?” I was shocked.
“It’s true.”
“You… how do you know?”
“Just now, Mu Gongzi came to see me and explained everything. Actually, I had noticed that Qing’er liked you from the start, but I wasn’t sure. Now I’m certain,” Yun Xi said.
“Mu Jin Yi? But… we’re siblings, how can this…” I hurriedly protested.
“But you aren’t bl00d-related, right?” Yun Xi looked at me.
“Uh… doesn’t she like Mu Jin Yi?” I was puzzled.
“That’s what you think. Qing’er and Mu Gongzi only have a sibling-like relationship,” she explained.
“I guess I overthought it. So what should I do?”
“What to do depends on you. I think you should comfort Qing’er first. She cried this afternoon and doesn’t know you’re actually a girl yet.”
“Alright, let me think about it carefully,” my heart skipped a beat.
“Hmm, I’ll go back now,” Yun Xi said.
I nodded and sent her off, then sat on the bench, feeling exhausted. I pondered why Qing’er liked me so much.
Flashback:
“Brother, I want to go too.”
“No, Qing’er. This trip is extremely dangerous. You, a fragile girl, can’t go.”
“Brother, please let me go. I promise I won’t be a bother. Just let me stay by your side!”
“I said no! You’ll only get hurt. I think you should stay home as a young lady and avoid unnecessary suffering.”
“You just don’t want me to bother you, right? I just want to be with you!”
“Qing’er, it’s okay to be safe at home. Being with me isn’t worth risking your life.”
“Brother… brother, I made this pouch for you, just for you.”
“No… that’s not it, brother, you misunderstood!”
“Brother, you really think that? I only made this pouch for you, but you gave it to Mu Da Ge (Brother Mu). Brother, you…” Qing’er started crying.
“Brother, I want to be with you.”
After the flashback, I was dumbstruck, almost struck by lightning. I pulled out the pouch Qing’er had given me yesterday—two mandarin ducks playing in the water…
“She… really likes me?” I murmured in disbelief.
“Now Qing’er is crying again… what should I do? This is so annoying!” I scratched my head in frustration.
“Whatever, just deal with it.” I made up my mind and went to Qing’er’s room.
At the door, I hesitated to knock, then finally bit the bullet and said: “Qing’er, are you there? Are you asleep?”
“Brother?” Qing’er asked hesitantly.
“Yes, it’s me.”
She didn’t answer again at first, making me panic, but then she said: “Brother… come in.”
Relieved, I opened the door slowly. Inside, Qing’er sat on a chair, head down, fingers nervously fidgeting with the pink ribbon around her waist. She was obviously very nervous.
I sat across from her, watching her for a while. She didn’t speak, only looking down, her cheeks flushed. The room became quiet and slightly awkward.
Under the light, Qing’er’s face looked beautiful. How could such a kind and lovely girl like her like me? I was captivated.
“Your Highness, I see a faint pink glow on your forehead. Looks like you’ll have some romance soon,” I suddenly remembered Wu Xu’s words, startling me…
Qing’er noticed my silence and peeked at me. My gaze made her heart race, and her face turned even redder.
“Qing’er, your eyes are red this afternoon. It’s not dust, right?” I sighed.
“Yes… I cried. Brother misunderstood us. I just wanted to be with you,” Qing’er said, tears falling again. “Actually… I only consider Mu Da Ge my brother. Brother, you misunderstood.”
“I’m sorry, Qing’er. I was wrong,” I said.
“Brother, don’t worry. I’ll do anything for you!” Qing’er said quickly, nodding.
Silly Qing’er… she doesn’t even know I’m a girl. If she did, she probably wouldn’t feel that way!
“Brother… do you like me?” Qing’er asked, her cheeks red, eyes full of expectation.
“I…” I was speechless. Seeing her hopeful expression, my heart ached. “I’m sorry, Qing’er. I don’t like you that way. I hope you can find someone better than me.”
Her face turned from red to pale. “I understand, brother.”
“I’m sorry. I’ll leave now,” I said, getting up.
“Brother… no matter if you like me or not, I like you,” Qing’er said absentmindedly.
I froze for a moment, then shook my head. Such a devoted girl… I left her room.
Back in my own room, I sat cross-legged and practiced the second layer of my power. I had heard that mastering the second layer would greatly increase my magical strength and give me many new techniques. But as the levels increased, the training became increasingly difficult. The last Zombie King reached only the second layer and could never achieve the third, which was extremely mysterious and rarely reached.
“The Bloodthirsty Sword must be combined with the Zombie Clan’s secret manual and sword techniques to unleash its full power. I need to train harder,” I muttered.
I placed my hands on my knees and circulated my power. Dark red zombie energy flowed through my meridians. Slowly, the energy in my abdomen began to grow, though very slowly.
Suddenly, a terrified male voice broke through:
“Ah! Don’t kill me! I beg you, don’t kill me!”
A chill ran down my spine. Something bad was happening. I left a note on the desk and rushed out the window.
Following the sound to a part of Xinghai Town, I saw the Water Centipede approaching a man, who sat pale and terrified. I quickly flew over and summoned the Bloodthirsty Sword, slashing a red sword energy at the centipede.
Sensing me, it quickly dodged.
I protected the man, standing with the sword coldly pointed at the Water Centipede. The man clutched my sleeve, crying:
“Master, please save me! I don’t want to die! We just arrived in Xinghai Town today and know nothing. Please, Master!”
“Others?” I asked.
“Brother Li is already dead. The monster ate him,” the man pointed to a pile of scattered corpses and a pool of bl00d nearby.
“Water Centipede! You escaped last time and didn’t repent. Now you’ve become even worse!” I growled, holding my sword.
“Zombie King, didn’t expect you to appear again. Last time I underestimated you. This time you won’t be so lucky,” the centipede said, clenching its fists.
“But after eating the inner core, all my wounds healed, and my strength greatly increased. This time I will kill you and avenge my lost arm!” I shouted.
“You won’t return alive!” My eyes reddened, nails blackened, I charged with the Bloodthirsty Sword.
“Monster… monsters, all monsters!!!” The man fainted from fear.
The Water Centipede transformed into a half-human, half-centipede, wielding a black blade and charging at me.
I swung my sword at its head. It blocked with the black blade on its head. Realizing it couldn’t withstand me for long, it used its giant pincer to clamp my waist. I dodged and attacked its back, piercing it. A yellow, foul-smelling liquid oozed out.
The centipede screamed in pain and whipped its upper body back, the arched pincer clamping into my waist, lifting me.
“Ugh.” The stabbing pain made me gasp. Its pincer had pierced two centimeters into my waist. No matter how I slashed, it wouldn’t let go.
“Roar!!!” The centipede tried to bite me. I barely jammed my sword into its mouth. Inside, it was dark and foul-smelling, with large black spikes.
I coughed bl00d as its pincer pierced further.
After struggling, I gradually lost strength. My hands weakened, and I fell into the centipede’s mouth, blacking out…
