A Time-Traveling Zombie Romance (GL) - Chapter 8
Black smoke rolled from the zombies, while divine warriors were bathed in golden light.
The overwhelming formations made everyone present tense. Senior Sister held her injury, struggling to look at the approaching scene, her eyes full of nothing but astonishment. The mysterious figure’s expression was also slightly surprised, while Master frowned solemnly as he watched everything unfold.
It seemed that Qier’s divine consciousness had been awakened by the corpse poison inside her. Whether this was a blessing or a curse—that was the key.
The Zombie King, witnessing the scene, immediately transformed into a swirl of black smoke and surged into my body. I shuddered as the Zombie King took control of me.
“Damn beast, you’re still alive after five hundred years?” The divine general within me was slightly shocked and immediately glared with murderous intent.
“Hmph! Five hundred years ago, if I hadn’t used my concubine’s body to block your full-strength attack, I would have perished as well,” the Zombie King said angrily.
“Truly cruel and ruthless. Hmph, you must have been injured quite badly back then too.”
“Haha, five hundred years ago I was careless and got hurt. But didn’t you, too, get defeated and forced into the cycle of reincarnation? Now is different. After drinking this boy’s bl00d, my power has greatly increased. I fear there is no rival for me in the Three Realms.”
“What? How… is that possible?” The divine warrior inside me exclaimed.
“You don’t know? When Nuwa repaired the sky, a Five-Colored Divine Stone accidentally fell to the mortal world and transformed into human form. This boy is that stone. You, Shenlong, must know the power of that stone. Now that I’ve drunk his bl00d, my power has naturally increased.” The Zombie King said with pride.
“This… Hmph! So what if you drank his bl00d? Today I, as the divine, will uphold the will of Heaven. You, demon, cannot escape judgment.” Shenlong, momentarily stunned, immediately said fiercely.
“Haha, demon? Nonsense. Zombies are not part of the Three Realms or the Five Elements. They are neither human, god, immortal, ghost, demon, nor Taoist or Buddhist. So how can you call us demons? But… if you want to destroy me, you’ll have to rely on true skill.”
Shenlong’s anger flared. Holding his divine spear, he struck the ground, turning ten miles around into a barren battlefield. “Kill!” With that command, the soldiers charged, and the battle began.
Shenlong rushed toward the Zombie King, thrusting his divine spear. The Zombie King slightly tilted his body and dodged. The spear swept to the side; the Zombie King leaned back, narrowly avoiding it. In an instant, a black smoke-wreathed great blade appeared in the Zombie King’s hand, and the surroundings darkened. The great blade swung at Shenlong, who parried with his spear and continued attacking.
Meanwhile, the zombies and divine soldiers fought with all their strength. Both sides were evenly matched, the clash fierce and unrelenting. Corpses and bl00d littered the ground. The air was thick with the stench of bl00d and decay, making Master, Senior Sister, and the mysterious figure gag.
“Haha, the disciples of Pangu the Great are indeed different. But… I truly feel ashamed for Pangu to have such a weak disciple,” the Zombie King laughed.
“Do not insult my master!” Shenlong roared. “Dragon Pierces the Heavens!”
Shenlong struck the Zombie King. The Zombie King flew far away, stabilizing, and black bl00d trickled from his body. He sneered disdainfully: “Is that all your strength? So much for the famous Shenlong.”
“Dark Zombies, annihilate the divine!”
“You… pfft!” The Zombie King took advantage of Shenlong’s momentary lapse and unleashed five layers of power. Shenlong, completely unprepared, took the full force, coughing up a mouthful of bl00d, kneeling on one knee, clutching his chest and gasping.
“Junior Brother!” Senior Sister’s heart felt like it had been stabbed. Pale-faced, she tried to rush forward but was held back by Master.
“He is not Qier, but Shenlong,” Master explained calmly.
Even with Master’s warning, Senior Sister’s eyes were still full of worry.
Sigh… this foolish child… Master shook his head helplessly.
“Cough… you… despicable.” Shenlong groaned.
“Just now you realized?” The Zombie King sneered.
“I… as the divine… even if my soul is scattered… will subdue you… cough…” Shenlong struggled to stand, chanting a spell. The dragon mark on his forehead glowed. “Ah!” Using Earth Escape, he surged toward the Zombie King. Before the Zombie King could react, Shenlong shouted “Boom!” Suddenly, the dragon mark on his forehead radiated golden light. Everyone shielded their eyes instinctively as the ground shook violently.
“Ah!! Shenlong, you dared to explode your consciousness to die with me? Hmph! Even if I perish, my successor will rule this world. Our zombie clan will never perish!” The Zombie King roared. Two explosive sounds followed.
“Boom~~ Boom~~”
When the dust settled and Senior Sister opened her eyes, the surroundings had returned to reality. It was silent. I sat cross-legged like a corpse; all the zombies had vanished.
Suddenly, black smoke surged from the sky into my crown. I shuddered, coughed up black bl00d, and collapsed.
“Junior Brother!” Senior Sister, pale-faced and tearful, covered her mouth and ran to me, holding me in her arms. “Junior Brother! What’s wrong? Wake up!”
“Xier, don’t worry. Take Qier back to the residence. We’ll examine carefully afterward,” Master said, stepping forward.
“Yes, Master.” Senior Sister, red-eyed, carried me swiftly to the residence using her light skills.
“Ugh~~ My… head hurts so much, ah!” I woke up suddenly from severe head pain, eyes shut tight, hands covering my head. Unknown information flooded my mind.
“Junior Brother, you’re awake? What’s wrong? Junior Brother!” Senior Sister rushed to my side, hugging me anxiously.
“Ugh… let go!” Suddenly, my eyes turned red, my teeth elongated, and I pushed Senior Sister away fiercely.
“J-Junior Brother…” Senior Sister sat on the ground, dumbfounded.
“Huh? Senior Sister?” Seeing her on the ground, I panicked and helped her back to bed. “Are you okay? Sorry, I didn’t realize it was you…”
“It’s fine, Junior Brother. It’s just your teeth…” Senior Sister hesitated.
“My teeth?” I touched my mouth and saw two sharp, long fangs exposed.
“Ah! What? My corpse poison… hasn’t completely gone?” I was shocked.
“But this time is different. Your eyes are black and you’re conscious,” Senior Sister said, puzzled. “Wait here. I’ll call Master and Uncle over to see.” She immediately left the room.
“Uncle…?” I was confused.
“Qier, you’re awake? Any abnormalities in your body?” Master and the mysterious figure entered. Master approached me.
“All fine. But when I woke up, strange scenarios flooded my mind, along with information about martial arts and mind techniques,” I said.
“Hmm? How can this be…” Master frowned.
The mysterious figure spoke: “Brother, I remember you told us if the Zombie King is destroyed, the powers accumulated by past Zombie Kings transfer to the successor. We just saw black smoke enter Master Junior’s crown. If I’m correct, that’s the three layers of ancient Zombie King power. Looks like Master Junior has now become the Zombie King.”
Master’s eyes widened: “I see. That explains the information in Qier’s mind—it’s the three layers of power from the ancient Zombie King.”
“What! I… am still a zombie?” I stared blankly. “All this effort, and nothing changes. I’m still a half-human, half-zombie monster.” I muttered.
“No, more accurately, you are no longer human. You have completely become a zombie,” Uncle corrected.
“Junior Brother…” Senior Sister looked at me worriedly.
“But this is a blessing in disguise. I see that your nature is kind, so you won’t commit atrocities. As the Zombie King, you can control your bl00d consumption. Your power increases, and even if injured, you can recover instantly, achieving immortality…” Uncle added.
“I need to think for myself, Uncle!” I interrupted, walking blankly outside.
“Junior Brother…” Senior Sister followed me.
“Go back, Senior Sister. I need some time alone.” I said.
“But…”
“It’s fine. I’ll be okay.”
“Alright, Junior Brother. Be careful.” Senior Sister watched me anxiously.
“Why must I turn into a zombie… and such an ugly one? How will I face people in the future?” I sat on a large rock by the stream, complaining and tossing small stones into the water. The sun set, and darkness fell.
“Why is my life so unlucky?”
…
After mumbling to myself for the 261st time, I finally understood.
“Fine. Even if I’m a zombie, so what? Hmph, walking the unconventional path—that’s who I am!” I stood resolutely.
I reviewed the new information in my mind. One part annoyed me: “If the Zombie King has no bl00d, he can still consume ordinary zombies’ bl00d. Ordinary zombies must comply, or their souls will be scattered…” Then I saw: “All past Zombie Kings may alter the rules of predecessors.” My eyes lit up.
After studying all the information, I absorbed part of the three layers of ancient Zombie King power and learned how to transform into a zombie and summon ordinary zombies.
I concentrated, my eyes automatically turning red, and let out a long howl to the sky: “Ugh~~”
Zombies sleeping underground broke through the soil and rushed toward me. Soon, over a thousand zombies surrounded me.
“Your King, what orders do you have for us?” The ordinary zombies sensed the aura of the Zombie King from me and knelt in unison.
“The previous Zombie King has been destroyed by Shenlong. As his successor, I shall rule all of you. You, as soldiers of the former king, may choose to follow your old master into death, or stay and obey me?” I said coldly.
“… …”
The zombies hesitated.
Suddenly, one stepped forward: “I am a corpse general of the former king. I pledge loyalty to you along with all my soldiers.” Over a hundred zombies kneeled, proclaiming loudly: “We pledge loyalty to our King!”
One pledged, then others followed.
“Good! I appreciate your loyalty. But to be under my command, you must follow my rules. I will explain them now—listen carefully!” I called out.
“Yes, Your Majesty.”
“From now on, the ruler is the ‘Corpse Emperor.’ Zombies under the Corpse Emperor are ‘Corpse Kings.’ Zombies under Corpse Kings are ‘Corpse Marshals’ or ‘Corpse Ministers.’ Under them are ‘Corpse Generals’ or ‘Corpse Servants.’ Then come ‘Corpse Soldiers’ and finally ‘Corpse Citizens.’ Those with royal bl00d are the Corpse Emperor and Corpse Kings. Corpse Marshals and Ministers have half royal bl00d. All others are ordinary.
Zombies under the Emperor must obey commands. Disobedience will be punished: minor offenses by military law, major offenses by soul dispersal or annihilation. The Corpse Emperor may not consume subordinate bl00d at will. Corpse Generals and above cannot harm innocents. Understood?” I asked.
“Yes, Your Majesty! The zombie clan shall never perish!” The zombies shouted as they kowtowed.
“Good. Rise. Where are your Corpse Kings, Marshals, and Ministers?”
“Your Majesty, they were destroyed by humans and those wretched Taoists,” an ordinary zombie replied, eyes filled with fierce hatred.
“Very well. All of you shall obey my orders. It’s late; return to rest, but do not disturb mortals.” I tapped my temples.
“Yes, Your Majesty.” In less than a minute, all the zombies vanished. I stared blankly, my mouth twitching at the speed.
Well, even if I’m not human, I’ll be a good zombie.
Happily, I used light skills to fly back home.
