A White Cloud (GL ABO) - Chapter 35
Tomb Cheng withdrew her heated gaze.
Her thoughts snapped back quickly.
She pointed behind her with sudden realization, saying, “Oh, I prepared breakfast for you. Shall we eat and go?”
Shen Zhiqing replied faintly, “Yes.”
Zhiman emerged, dressed in the black long dress she changed into yesterday.
The design covered her skin tightly, sensual yet concealed.
Zhiman yawned lazily behind Shen Zhiqing, greeting, “Morning, Tomb Cheng.”
Facing two beautiful women, Xu Yiyi showed no reaction.
Only when Tomb Cheng held her on her lap to feed her did Xu Yiyi, under Tomb Cheng’s eager expectation, greet the two aunties.
Xu Yiyi said, “Good morning, Aunt Xiao.”
She added, “Good morning, Doctor Aunt.”
Zhiman smiled warmly, her eyes full of affection, saying, “Good morning, Little Yiyi. We met last time, remember?”
Xu Yiyi hid her face on Tomb Cheng’s shoulder.
Her eyes scanned them, then retreated.
She clung to Tomb Cheng, as if afraid someone would steal her toy.
Tomb Cheng had served porridge earlier—not the sweet golden pumpkin porridge from before, but millet porridge with vegetables and salted egg yolk.
It looked better and smelled fragrant.
Shen Zhiqing ate quietly.
Zhiman tasted the vegetable porridge and praised Tomb Cheng’s skill, saying, “Tomb Cheng, you didn’t stay in the army’s kitchen unit, did you?”
Tomb Cheng set Xu Yiyi on a chair, handed her a napkin, and watched her wipe her mouth obediently.
Tomb Cheng fondly patted her head before answering Zhiman, “Don’t underestimate our kitchen unit.”
Zhiman laughed heartily at her serious tone.
Shen Zhiqing, eavesdropping, poked her porridge secretly.
Why could Zhiman chat so easily with her?
Carrying her discontent, Shen Zhiqing didn’t head to the driver’s seat at the parking lot.
She held out the car keys, asking, “Who’s driving?”
Zhiman wanted to ask why she wasn’t driving, then noticed the faint tired shadows under Shen Zhiqing’s eyes, guessing she hadn’t slept well.
As Zhiman reached for the keys, Tomb Cheng grabbed them faster.
Tomb Cheng said, “I’ll do it.”
Familiar with the sedan from last night, Tomb Cheng pulled out of the parking spot swiftly.
Shen Zhiqing, not waiting, opened the door and slid into the passenger seat.
Shen Zhiqing’s car lacked a child safety seat, but Xu Yiyi stayed calm.
Tomb Cheng coaxed her, and she sat in the back.
Tomb Cheng fastened her seatbelt, but the girl clung to her mother.
Tomb Cheng said, “Yiyi, be good. I’m right in front, okay?”
She smoothed her skirt, coaxing patiently.
Xu Yiyi refused to let go.
Shen Zhiqing pulled out strawberry candies from somewhere and handed them over.
Tomb Cheng unwrapped one, fed it to Xu Yiyi, and patted her head, saying, “When the candy loses flavor, I’ll hold you, okay?”
Xu Yiyi clutched the remaining candies, staring blankly at the driver’s seat.
Zhiman watched their interaction, wondering when these two grew so close.
The drive to the hospital took less than twenty minutes.
Bright sunlight poured warmth generously, bringing life and love to every morning creature.
As they arrived, Su Jue parked her car, saying, “What a coincidence.”
Zhiman, seeing Su Jue’s flashy style, doubted her professionalism.
The bold Alpha wore a deep purple dress, leaning casually against her car, looking like she came from a party.
Her car, a mid-size SUV, screamed in bright sky blue, standing out among the serious vehicles.
Zhiman scoffed at the Alpha’s taste, saying, “Tch.”
Tomb Cheng lifted Xu Yiyi from the car. Shen Zhiqing, head aching at the scene, briskly told Su Jue about last night.
Su Jue took Zhiman to the department quickly.
The group dispersed.
At the hospital, Shen Zhiqing suggested a checkup for Xu Yiyi to aid ongoing observation.
Tomb Cheng hesitated but agreed.
The psychiatric staff knew Xu Yiyi, making the process easy.
Tomb Cheng sent her in confidently, noting nurses leading patients in morning exercises.
Shen Zhiqing led the morning rounds.
When she finished, Xu Yiyi was still in testing.
Shen Zhiqing checked; the girl was on a brain scan machine, needing more time.
Tomb Cheng sat outside briefly, then, with nothing to do, went to wash her hands in the bathroom.
A nurse outside said, “Heard about the research institute’s latest achievement?”
Another replied, “Yunding’s Class C suppressant?”
The first confirmed, “Yeah, they say it came from the pheromone genetics department.”
Hearing water in the Alpha bathroom, they lowered their voices and entered the Omega bathroom.
Tomb Cheng rinsed her hands.
She removed her smartwatch, its band showing faint burn marks from electrical currents.
Recalling those shocks, she sighed at the mirror.
She thought, “With Shen Zhiqing like this, I’ll get burned skin eventually.”
Muttering, she said, “Good thing my skin’s tough.” She put the watch back on.
As the first test subject of the pheromone genetics department, her data was constantly monitored.
It didn’t affect her life, but for confidentiality and physical reasons, her chip was directly managed by the department.
The pheromone genetics department shared research rights with Yunding.
Without breaching privacy, Yunding provided user data for their studies.
Tomb Cheng left the bathroom, unsteady.
An unknown force pulled her into the fire escape.
Alert, the soldier smelled familiar cherry wine.
Resigned, she let Shen Zhiqing pin her in the narrow passage.
No one noticed two people hid under the green exit sign, one being the usually refined Dr. Shen Zhiqing.
Tomb Cheng, back against the wall, asked, “What’s Dr. Shen doing?”
Shen Zhiqing, shorter, buried herself in Tomb Cheng’s chest while hugging her.
Still in her white coat, her hands were dry, suggesting she’d waited to catch her. She held on tightly.
The doctor inhaled the Alpha’s scent.
Bonded, they sensed each other’s faint pheromones.
Shen Zhiqing hugged her, hearing her strong heartbeat.
Her unease faded, replaced by joy and softness.
Her voice mellowed as she nuzzled Tomb Cheng’s chest, full of attachment, saying, “Charging.”
