A White Cloud (GL ABO) - Chapter 44
When Shen Zhiqing came out of the bathroom, she saw Bread lying by the door.
She guessed the little guy couldn’t find his owner and waited at the lit bathroom door.
“Even the cat is more thoughtful than you,” Shen Zhiqing murmured softly, still carrying anger in her heart.
Alpha was probably still in the bathroom, at a loss.
She sighed long and bent down to gently pick up Bread.
“Meow~”
The startled little guy let out a soft cry and stretched his neck to lick Shen Zhiqing’s face affectionately.
Shen Zhiqing adjusted her bathrobe to avoid the cat’s claws accidentally scratching her.
She carried Bread to the bed.
She placed the cat back in his bed and sat on the edge, silently drying her hair.
Bread, restless in his bed, jumped up and leaned against her leg.
His round blue eyes looked at her, as if accusing her about earlier, “Meow~”
The bedsheets hadn’t been changed yet.
Shen Zhiqing reached out and placed the cat on her lap.
“Meow~”
When Tomb Cheng came out, she saw Shen Zhiqing petting the cat with her back turned.
Her hair was half-dry, and a towel lay on the bed, covering ambiguous water stains to keep Bread from rolling on them.
Unsure of Shen Zhiqing’s mood, Tomb Cheng didn’t speak rashly.
She skillfully found clean sheets and bedding.
“Doctor Shen,” she said.
Shen Zhiqing turned to look at her.
Alpha’s strong, lean arm held pristine bedding, her gaze serious behind glasses, showing no discomfort or other emotions.
Shen Zhiqing paused silently, holding the cat, and stood aside to watch her change the sheets.
She didn’t plan to help, and Tomb Cheng didn’t ask.
Tomb Cheng quickly pulled off the dirty sheets, smoothly spreading clean ones with a swift pull, crisp and without hesitation.
Shen Zhiqing watched her put on pillowcases.
Alpha’s long, darker-skinned legs knelt there, sinking the bed.
Her breathing caused slight rises in her body, with nail marks from Shen Zhiqing still on her chest. She focused solely on tidying up.
When they returned to the bed, Shen Zhiqing placed the cat by the pillow, glanced at her, and sat back down.
Tomb Cheng took the dirty sheets to the washing machine.
When she returned, Shen Zhiqing stood by the window, seriously making a phone call.
The call rang a few times, likely answered, and Tomb Cheng heard her ask, “Where are you?”
“Okay, Senior Sister, wait a moment, I’m coming over,” Shen Zhiqing says.
After hanging up, Tomb Cheng saw her turn back and asked, “Going out?”
Shen Zhiqing gripped her phone, hesitating.
After half a second, she admitted reluctantly, “Zhiman is at the hotel now, and Su Jue is with her.”
Tomb Cheng blurted out, “What’s wrong with Sister Xiao?”
She knew Su Jue, having seen her that morning—Shen Zhiqing’s senior sister and Xiao Zhiman’s doctor.
But an Alpha? Wouldn’t Sister Yuan mind?
Shen Zhiqing saw the worry in her expression and felt uneasy.
“She’s been calmed down for now,” she says.
“Are you going to the hotel?” Tomb Cheng asks.
Shen Zhiqing nods, preparing to change clothes.
Tomb Cheng grabs her, saying, “I’ll go.”
An inexplicable force made her stop Shen Zhiqing.
She insisted firmly, “I’ll pick her up.”
Shen Zhiqing still carried the sweet, ambiguous scent.
Tomb Cheng couldn’t let her meet an Alpha like that.
She pulled Shen Zhiqing back into a half-embrace, gently stroking her hair, her voice soft and coaxing with unnoticed playfulness, saying domineeringly, “I’ll take your car and be back soon, okay?”
Shen Zhiqing couldn’t deny that the shy girl from years ago had grown up.
Her actions and words subtly enchanted her.
Tomb Cheng tugged her bathrobe’s hem, pushing her outside the master bedroom.
She leaned down for a light kiss on her lips, a small, smug smile on her face, saying, “Senior Sister, just change and wait for us at home.”
Shen Zhiqing felt the possessiveness in Alpha’s words.
After Tomb Cheng took the car keys, she lingered on her earlier image.
How to describe it?
This assertive, slightly domineering Tomb Cheng had a unique charm, making Shen Zhiqing’s heart race.
Her mind replayed Tomb Cheng’s departing figure, her low ponytail swinging over her shoulder, her posture bold and spirited.
Tomb Cheng got into the car, recalling the hospital scene where Su Jue supported Shen Zhiqing’s waist as they left a ward.
Late at night, the roads were clear.
Tomb Cheng drove smoothly to the hotel, parked by the roadside, and entered.
When the elevator doors opened, Su Jue and Zhiman were already waiting.
“Sister Xiao,” Tomb Cheng said, noting Xiao Zhiman’s pale face.
She called out with concern, reaching to take her from Su Jue.
Zhiman only leaned one hand on Su Jue’s arm, with no other contact.
She smiled apologetically at Tomb Cheng, saying, “Sorry, Tomb Cheng, troubling you so late.”
Tomb Cheng disagreed, holding the elevator and helping her in, saying, “Sister Xiao, you’ve helped me so much, no need to say that.”
In the car, Su Jue, feeling responsible, followed them back.
She was curious about her junior sister’s relationship with this Alpha—lending a car late at night meant something significant!
Su Jue arranged a driver to follow, bringing her car to the complex.
Shen Zhiqing saw the group emerge from the elevator.
Tomb Cheng took Xiao Zhiman to her place, while Shen Zhiqing pulled Su Jue outside to ask about the situation.
There was no recording that night. Su Jue honestly shared Xiao Zhiman’s condition as a friend.
Afterward, she eyed her usually aloof junior sister with mischief, saying, “I’ve reported, now it’s your turn.”
“What do I report?” Shen Zhiqing asks, raising an eyebrow, pretending ignorance.
Su Jue didn’t let her off, glancing at the open door, saying, “Late at night, Alpha and Omega differences aside, I didn’t expect you’d quietly move in together.”
“No wonder you’re my junior sister~”
Shen Zhiqing frowned, wanting to retort but holding back.
Her ears quietly reddened, and she scoffed lightly, saying, “Just neighbors.”
Su Jue didn’t buy such a flimsy excuse and obvious cover-up.
With the person delivered, she grew interested in teasing her junior sister.
“Such a devoted and trusted neighbor?” she says.
She emphasized “devoted,” seeing Shen Zhiqing’s neck redden, confirming her suspicions.
She winked at Shen Zhiqing. Under her blatant gaze, the usually reserved Shen Zhiqing, shyly, nodded lightly, her voice barely audible, saying, “Yes, it’s her.”
Su Jue stifled a laugh, finally meeting the person her junior sister had longed for, sparking gossip.
Shen Zhiqing pushed her toward the elevator.
“Hey, Junior Sister?” Su Jue says.
Shen Zhiqing pressed the down button, glancing back at the house unnaturally, saying, “We haven’t reconciled yet, so don’t spread it around.”
After sending Su Jue off, Shen Zhiqing returned to find Tomb Cheng coming out, looking at her resentfully.
“What’s wrong?” Shen Zhiqing asks, thinking it’s about Zhiman, swallowing her emotions.
Tomb Cheng looked at her deeply, saying flatly, “I’m going back,” and left.
Lying in bed, Shen Zhiqing felt the night was like a rollercoaster.
Hearing breathing beside her, her heart felt sour and restless.
Just because Zhiman needed to sleep near her, was Tomb Cheng that angry?
