A Young Lady Who Has Had Everything Exploited By Her Sickly Younger Sister Will Not Let Anyone Take Anything From Her Anymore - Chapter 12
“What did you say!? ”
A maid twisted her lips into a smirk and opened the door to Liliane’s room.
Colette’s father and mother entered the room with angry faces.
Her father grabbed Colette by the collar and pushed her against the wall and spat at her while yelling.
*****
“Colette, what are you thinking!? Are you trying to cover up what you did to Liliane now!?”
Colette stayed silent.
“If this was how it was going to be, we should have made Liliane the heir of the Milliact family from the beginning! Then she wouldn’t have been hurt.”
Colette quietly listened to their words.
She was about to explode from the anger that she had kept inside for so long.
Because she didn’t say anything, her parents said something even more shocking.
****
“You will now become the shadow that supports both of them! If you do that, we will forget everything that happened.”
“That’s right! Liliane’s health isn’t stable, and no nobleman in this country would want to marry a cruel woman who bullies her little sister!”
“Exactly, you’re right,” the father said.
They looked at Dion.
“Y-Yes… I agree,” Dion replied, nodding. But maybe he had already realized how strange this family was.
Their harsh voices only made Colette’s anger grow.
She used to want love from these two, her parents, but now she thinks it was foolish.
There was only strong hatred that filled her mind.
Usually, she would say nothing—but not today.
*****
“I refuse.”
“Hey… what did you just say?”
“W-What?”
“I said I absolutely refuse.”
Colette looked straight at her shocked parents and continued.
*****
“I’m leaving this house right now.”
Right after she said that, her father slapped her across the face.
*****
“You ungrateful girl!”
“…!”
Colette held her cheek and glared up at him.
She was aware that bad things would happen to her, but she had had enough of this treatment.
*****
(If I have to kill my heart to stay in this house, I’d rather die alone outside.)
She dug her nails into the wrist that’s holding her.
She hadn’t eaten well since the party where Liliane caused trouble, so her strength was weak.
But her anger was stronger than her hunger.
Seeing her different expression, her father loosened his grip for a moment.
She pushed him away. Then, she noticed scissors on Liliane’s desk.
Colette walked over and picked them up, swaying a little.
Everyone in the room froze.
She put her fingers into the scissors and pointed the blade at herself.
All their eyes widened in shock. No one could breathe.
*****
“Colette, sister…!?”
“H-Hey… what are you doing!?”
“Stop it, Colette!”
Colette opened the scissors and grabbed her olive-colored hair—the hair she had grown like Liliane’s.
With rough sounds, the scissors cut through her hair. Pieces of it dropped to the floor.
“What…!?”
She cut her hair up to her chest and brushed it off.
Then, she swung the scissors and stabbed them into the table.
Colette turned to her family with a big smile.
She held the edge of her skirt and bowed slightly.
She thought—it really was a smile from her heart.
Her head and body felt light, like feathers, now that the weight of her hair was gone.
*****
“…Goodbye.”
No one said anything until Colette walked out of the room.
The moment the door clicked shut, her parents’ angry shouts echoed behind it.
