Abducted by the White Moonlight of a "Tormented Protagonist" Novel - Chapter 13
Chapter 13
After pouring the water for Fu Wen, I nervously looked at Shen Shiyi and saw the half-smile on her face. My scalp tingled instantly.
For some reason, whenever I saw that expression on her face, I felt like something bad was about to happen.
“Miss Song, since you’re pouring tea, why are you only pouring for one person?” Shen Shiyi said, putting her teacup on the rotating tray. Her tone was flat.
As expected, as soon as she said that, Fu Wen also looked at me, with a hint of dissatisfaction and blame, feeling that I didn’t know how to act.
Shen Shiyi was going to be his lawfully wedded Mrs. Fu. No matter what my situation would be in the future, I shouldn’t be so careless when dealing with Shen Shiyi.
Hearing her call me “Miss Song,” I felt a little uncomfortable. This person really has the nerve. She called me Zhiqi before, and now it’s “Miss Song,” as if she wants everyone to know she’s angry.
But why? I didn’t provoke her. She was the one who provoked me, and I’m still angry!
I felt my anger building up. I filled Shen Shiyi’s teacup, but my smile was sweet and obedient. “No, I was just about to pour for you when you spoke.”
Shen Shiyi snorted and picked up the teacup in satisfaction, not bothering to argue with my sarcasm.
Fortunately, the food was served not long after. Looking at the dishes that were almost turned into works of art, I pouted in my heart. No wonder Fu Wen would come here to eat. This flashy presentation was very much in line with his style.
“You should try it. See how it tastes,” Fu Wen said, using the serving chopsticks to put some food in Shen Shiyi’s bowl. Since she said she was tired of Western food, he felt that his arrangement for dinner tonight was very good and should allow Shen Shiyi to see more of his good qualities.
“Okay, you eat too,” Shen Shiyi said with a faint smile on her lips. She used her chopsticks to pick up a slice of bamboo shoot, intentionally ignoring the food Fu Wen had put in her bowl, and ate it herself.
Fu Wen watched her elegant and natural movements. The flame in his eyes flickered. He continued, “What do you think about the marriage alliance between our two families?”
In his opinion, since he had already proposed a marriage alliance, Shen Shiyi should be taking this opportunity to agree, right?
“Ding–”
My spoon clinked against my bowl. I looked up in shock. What did I just hear?
The Fu family was going to have a marriage alliance with the Shen family?
Was this plot point in the original novel? Or was this the butterfly effect of Shen Shiyi returning to the country early?
On the surface, Fu Wen was an only child, but his father had many illegitimate children outside. Shen Shiyi was a true only child. If a marriage alliance were to happen, it would definitely not be with an illegitimate son of the Fu family. It could only be between him and Shen Shiyi.
I pursed my lips. I couldn’t understand the current plot. According to the original novel, Shen Shiyi was supposed to return to the country a year from now. In that year, the female protagonist and the male protagonist would be tangled in a relationship. By the time Shen Shiyi returned, the male protagonist would be in love with the female protagonist without knowing it, and the story of continuous hurt and entanglement would continue.
How did a marriage alliance suddenly pop up?
“System, what’s going on with the marriage alliance!” I nervously called out to the system. “If Fu Wen and Shen Shiyi get married, where do I fit in with this situation!”
The system calculated the results and breathed a sigh of relief. It comforted me. “It’s okay. Although this plot point never appeared in the original text, a big data analysis shows that even if they form a marriage alliance, they won’t get married so early. They will get engaged first.”
“In the big data algorithm, in these kinds of CEO romance novels, many male leads are already engaged, but they still choose to get involved with the female lead while they have a fiancée, acting out the story of ‘she runs, he chases, she can’t escape!'”
D*mn it!
When the system said that, I felt like I had read this kind of novel before. Usually, when this kind of situation progressed, the CEO’s fiancée, dissatisfied that the female protagonist was getting all of the male lead’s attention, would become a villainous female character who made things difficult for the female protagonist!
Then, the final outcome would be obvious. Because she made things difficult for the female protagonist, the male protagonist would find out and hold a grudge, ruining the fiancée’s family company, making her lose everything. In the end, the fiancée would suffer various tortures! All of this to show the male lead’s deep affection for the female protagonist!
The story isn’t really going to go in that direction, is it? That’s so cliché!
I looked at Shen Shiyi nervously. Although I always cursed at this woman, I still thought she was pretty good. I really didn’t want her to fall into the villainous female character’s trap. I thought it was perfect for her to remain apathetic toward Fu Wen, just as she was in the original novel!
Even though I was worried, I still felt panicked and hurt in my mind and said to the system, “Even if you say so, I still feel so sad. Seeing the person I like get engaged to someone else while I become the third person to intrude on someone else’s relationship, I just can’t do it!”
Seeing me in this state, the system was pleasantly surprised. “Yes, yes! Host! That’s the feeling! According to the big data algorithm, the female protagonist will be sad and hurt by the male protagonist having a fiancée, and she will want to leave the male protagonist, but he will catch her and bring her back! Then he will coax her, and they’ll get it on!”
D*mn it!
I cursed again in my mind. What’s wrong with this system? I want to get revenge points, I don’t want it to judge my acting!
I said angrily, “What are you even saying! I’m so upset right now, and you’re talking about all this nonsense!”
“Uh…”
The system came to its senses and seemed to feel a little awkward, so it fell silent.
I nervously stared at Shen Shiyi’s reaction. Just when I thought the system wouldn’t react, a “ding” sound came from my mind.
“Revenge points have increased by 0.5%. Total revenge points are now 1.25%.”
I was stunned for a second, but I quickly stopped paying attention to the system’s movement and stared at Shen Shiyi because she was about to speak!
Before speaking, Shen Shiyi glanced at me from the corner of her eye. Seeing the nervous look on my face, she finally felt a little better. She looked at Fu Wen and said, “I haven’t thought about the marriage alliance yet. I just got back to the country, and there are still a lot of things I need to get used to. We can put this matter off for now.”
Fu Wen frowned at her words, but he knew that what Shen Shiyi said was right. Although he was still a little uncomfortable, he couldn’t say anything. He could only purse his lips and nod. “You’re right.”
After hearing her refusal, I finally let out a sigh of relief. After relaxing, I realized that my palms were sweaty. I said with a little apology, “Excuse me, I need to go to the restroom.”
With that, I got up, pushed the chair away, and walked out. Since I didn’t know the way, I had to be led by the staff member at the door to the restroom.
I originally wanted to just wash my hands and hurry back. After all, I didn’t feel comfortable leaving Shen Shiyi alone to face the “King of Forcing.” However, after washing my hands, I found that my makeup was a little smudged. After touching up my makeup and walking out, the staff member who was supposed to be waiting outside was gone.
“Mr. Fu?” I said, a little hesitantly. I didn’t understand why Fu Wen would be at the restroom door. It looked like he was waiting for someone.
I immediately became wary. Could this person be here to catch me? After all, since we met today, we haven’t had a chance to be alone.
“Song Zhiqi.”
Fu Wen had his hands in his pants pockets, and his thin lips were tightly pursed. The look in his eyes toward me was full of coldness.
“What’s wrong?” I forced myself to calm down. I looked around out of the corner of my eye, searching for an escape route, afraid that this person would try to use force.
I watched Fu Wen walk toward me one step at a time. I also took a step back with each of his steps until my back hit the wall and I had nowhere else to go. My heart felt a little cold.
This private restaurant had very few customers. I hadn’t seen any other customers for so long. I didn’t know if it would be useful if I made a big scene.
Fu Wen got close to me. He took one hand out of his pocket and placed it on the wall behind me. He lowered his head and looked at my panicked, rabbit-like expression. He curved his lips in satisfaction and asked in a magnetic voice, “Why didn’t you come to me?”
My brain was racing, thinking about what kind of excuse I should use to get rid of him. But before I could think of a good reason, I heard a cold voice. My heart sank instantly.
“What… are you two doing?”
Shen Shiyi looked at the man and woman who were almost pressed up against each other with a cold gaze.
