ABO: A Debt to Repay - Chapter 1
When Xu Xi returned home from school, she was immediately greeted by the rich aroma of hotpot wafting through the air. For a second, she thought she might have walked into the wrong house. She double-checked the door before stepping inside.
“Mom? Hotpot tonight? What’s the occasion?”
Sitting by the table, He Fang was happily dropping vegetables into the bubbling pot. Her face was lit with joy as she replied, “Your dad finally came to his senses. He agreed to divorce me tomorrow. This apartment will be ours, and you’ll be coming with me.”
Xu Xi’s father, Xu Chang, was a chronic gambler who often abused both He Fang and Xu Xi. He’d even once harbored the twisted idea of selling his own Omega daughter to pay off his mounting debts.
At first, He Fang had endured it all for her daughter’s sake. But when she discovered just how depraved Xu Chang’s intentions had become, she finally woke up. No one—absolutely no one—was going to harm her daughter.
She demanded a divorce. No matter how Xu Chang tried to stall or act pitiful, she stood firm. And now, to her surprise, he had actually agreed.
This was huge. A rare moment of hope. Life had been hard and money tight—this was a reason to celebrate.
“That’s amazing!”
Xu Xi couldn’t have been happier. The thought of her mother finally breaking free from that man filled him with joy.
“Put your bag down and come eat!”
The spicy scent teased her appetite. Xu Xi washed her hands and sat down, sharing this rare moment of happiness with her mother.
But just as they had taken a few bites, the door was violently kicked open.
Startled, they turned toward the entrance and saw a group of tall, burly men in black suits step into their home. One of them shoved someone through the door—Xu Chang, who fell flat on the ground.
“Damn it, you dragged it out long enough!”
A chubby man in a gaudy floral shirt strode in. One of his men quickly set up a chair, and he plopped down with authority. “This guy owes us three million yuan. Time to pay up!”
Three million?
There was no way their family had that kind of money.
Xu Xi turned to look at the bruised and beaten Xu Chang, who couldn’t even meet their eyes.
He Fang protectively stepped in front of her daughter. “We don’t know this man. You’ve got the wrong house.”
The man took a drag from his cigarette and nudged Xu Chang with his foot. “They say they don’t know you.”
Xu Chang, face swollen and covered in bruises, immediately fell to his knees before He Fang and Xu Xi, sobbing, “Honey, please save me! I swear, I’ll never gamble again! I swear!”
But He Fang wouldn’t even look at him. Her voice was resolute: “We really don’t know him.”
“Oh? So you’re saying you can’t pay?” The man’s eyes then narrowed with interest as he glanced at Xu Xi. “Hey, your daughter’s not bad at all.”
Alarmed, He Fang told Xu Xi to run—but the men were already on her. They grabbed her and forced her in front of the man.
Xu Xi was beautiful. Her skin was pale and soft, her features delicate and refined. She radiated innocence, yet the upward tilt of her eyes gave her a subtle allure.
The man leaned in, sniffing near Xu Xi’s neck, then grinned with surprise. “A top-tier Omega, no less!”
Unlike regular Omegas, top-tier Omegas had incredibly pure and enticing pheromones—just a whiff could leave an Alpha reeling.
The man acted like he’d just struck gold. “Alright, let’s go! We’ll use this Omega to settle the debt!”
As they began to drag Xu Xi away, Xu Chang stood frozen in place. But He Fang wasn’t about to let her daughter be taken. She lunged forward, screaming, “Let my daughter go! She’s still a child! Take me instead—please, I’m begging you!”
The man paused, looked at her, then shook his head. “Maybe if you were younger. But now? Your daghter’s worth way more.”
Xu Xi was about to be shoved into a car when a new figure stepped out from a nearby parked vehicle.
Unlike the loan sharks, this man exuded an air of wealth and nobility. His sharp, elegant features, fair skin, and undeniable presence immediately commanded attention. His entire being radiated the suppressive aura of a top-tier Alpha—so intense, it made people instinctively fearful.
The man in the floral shirt quickly straightened up and greeted him with an ingratiating smile. “President He, what brings you here?”
He Lin didn’t respond. His gaze swept over to Xu Xi.
The man hurried to explain, “This family owes us three million yuan. Since they can’t pay, we’re using the daughter to settle it.”
“She agreed to that willingly?” He Lin asked coolly.
The man was surprised—President He usually never involved himself in these affairs. Why was he asking now?
Still, he answered carefully, “They’ll never be able to repay three million in their lifetime. What else could we do?”
“I’ll take her,” He Lin interrupted. “I’ll have Xiao Lin transfer you the three million shortly.”
“What…? President He, you—?”
He Lin shot him a glance, and the man shut his mouth immediately. Even though he was confused—especially since President He had always shown zero interest in Omegas—he dared not question him.
“Alright then, we’ll be on our way. You have your fun, sir!”
Xu Xi was released as the men departed. He Fang quickly pulled her into her arms, then turned to kneel in gratitude before He Lin—but he stopped her.
“Thank you for saving my daughter. We’ll never forget your kindness,” she said earnestly.
He Lin’s expression remained cold. “No need to thank me,” he said, his eyes landing on Xu Xi. “After all… I’m a businessman. I don’t make deals that lose money.”
So, he wasn’t a savior—he was just another predator?
He Fang was stunned. Xu Xi summoned her courage and said, “I can slowly earn the three million. I’ll pay you back.”
“Oh?” He Lin’s voice was laced with amusement. “And how do you plan to earn it?”
These days, Omegas weren’t confined to the home anymore—they could work. But most of their jobs paid poorly. To earn three million quickly, one would have to either break the law… or marry rich.
Xu Xi understood this all too well. She bit his lip, then quietly asked, “Then… what do you want?”
