ABO The Boss Is Obsessed With Me - Chapter 4
Sima Qingshan leaned against a dimly lit corner, his face shadowed by the poor lighting, cleverly concealing his gloomy expression and impatience.
He retrieved a small, pure yellow pill from a white tin box adorned with a red peony. Popping it into his mouth, the bitter taste immediately spread across his tongue, while his heavy body seemed to gain a momentary lightness.
As expected, spending too long in crowds still makes me uneasy.
He reached into his other pocket for a cigarette case, pulled out a cigarette, and was about to light it when a figure suddenly appeared around the corner.
“Hey man, forgot my smokes. Can I bum one?”
The forced casualness in the voice betrayed ulterior motives.
Yi Yu’s face flushed crimson during his first attempt at striking up a conversation. Fortunately, the dim lighting hid his embarrassment.
The dark silhouette before him stirred a sudden flutter of the heart, yet also carried an overwhelming sense of pressure.
Hearing the request, Sima Qingshan’s cold eyes slowly turned to meet his gaze. A polite smile suddenly softened his lips as he withdrew a cigarette from the already closed case. “Sure, here you go.”
His tone carried a hint of coldness and detachment, but the listener was too preoccupied to notice.
Yi Yu’s hand trembled slightly as he reached for the cigarette. He feigned practiced ease as he placed it between his lips, tilting his chin slightly toward Sima Qingshan.
Muttering through the cigarette, he said, “Could you light this for me while you’re at it?”
Sima Qingshan smiled faintly, took the cigarette in his own mouth, and held a lighter to Yi Yu’s lips with one hand while shielding the flame from the wind with the other. With a click, the lighter sparked, followed by Sima Qingshan’s crisp, sweet laughter, like morning dew.
Unable to suppress his amusement, Sima Qingshan kindly pointed out, “Your cigarette—it seems you’ve got it backwards. The filter’s the end that goes in your mouth!”
Yi Yu’s face flushed crimson in an instant. He yanked the cigarette from his mouth and immediately lowered his head, offering Sima Qingshan a view of his rounded crown. His eyes, burning with embarrassment, stared at the dark floor, wishing he could vanish into a crack in the ground.
“Want another one?”
Yi Yu looked up at the sound of Sima Qingshan’s voice, his ashamed gaze meeting Sima Qingshan’s harmless one. “…Thank you!”
With a click, the cigarette was relit, its tip glowing with a flickering ember.
At the same moment, a handsome face leaned in close, his dilated pupils fixed on Yi Yu’s flawless skin, thin, rosy lips, and eyes reflecting the firelight.
Yi Yu, his face flushed crimson, turtled his head back and turned away, taking a clumsy drag from his cigarette.
The hasty movement caused the smoke to pool in his mouth, desperately seeking an escape.
Holding his breath, he glanced sideways at Sima Qingshan. To his surprise, the man was leaning against the wall, staring straight at him with a mocking grin, the cigarette dangling from his lips unlit.
Suddenly, the smoke in Yi Yu’s mouth escaped uncontrollably through his mouth and nose, blue-white tendrils swirling around them.
“Cough, cough! S-sorry… I…”
He lowered his head, his left hand removing the cigarette from his mouth and tucking it between his fingers. His right hand covered his mouth in a futile attempt to suppress the urge to cough violently, two pink circles blooming on his cheekbones.
“No problem! Carry on. I’ve got something to take care of, so I’ll head out.”
Sima Qingshan brushed past Yi Yu’s shoulder as he left.
Yi Yu stood rooted to the spot, his head bowed in dejection, regret flickering in his eyes. It’s over…
The cigarette in his hand burned down to its end, the heat searing his fingers. Yi Yu, lost in thought, finally snapped out of his daze and flicked it away.
Yi Yu was a complete sucker for good looks. If someone was handsome and dashing enough, he would inevitably fall head over heels, and with unrestrained fervor.
But he had never experienced anything like his encounter with Sima Qingshan!
His desire for Sima Qingshan was urgent, overwhelming, and profound. The man had streaked across his vision like a shooting star, yet Yi Yu felt an overwhelming urge to scour the vast sky for countless similar yet utterly unique versions of him, pouring all his energy into the search.
But his clumsy attempt at conversation had likely left a poor impression.
Thinking about his awkwardness, Yi Yu scratched his head, his fingers itching. How could I even manage to hold a cigarette upside down?!
He returned to the noisy gathering, his spirit deflated. The others were still laughing and playing, their revelry restrained.
He sat down, but the man who had just walked into his heart, now gone from the booth across from him, had long since departed this earthly realm.
Author’s Note:
Smoking isn’t for good kids. It’s bad for your health!
Don’t imitate Qingshan’s smoking, and don’t follow Yu ah’s example either!
A mwah for all my darlings!
