Accidentally Marked My Ex’s Crush, the Ice-Cold Goddess O - Chapter 18: Drunk
Chapter 18: Drunk
After the meal, dessert was served.
The desserts at this restaurant were always loved by Aunt Liu, so they ordered five servings of shaved ice.
When they were almost done with dessert, Jiang Ci wanted to get up to pay the bill, but for some reason, as soon as she stood, her legs felt weak, and her body tilted, about to fall onto the table.
“Hey, Xiao Ci!” Liu Xiting, sitting across from her, noticed her condition first and instinctively reached out to help. But before her hand could touch, Gu Feiran grabbed Jiang Ci’s arm.
Jiang Lan looked over, worried, and said, “Xiao Ci, what’s wrong?”
Jiang Ci didn’t know what was wrong. When she stood up, her head felt heavy and hurt, like it was being squeezed by pressure. Her vision suddenly darkened, and all her strength seemed to drain away, making it hard to stand. But now she felt a bit better. She shook her head and said, “I don’t know, maybe I drank too much.”
Tonight, the four of them opened two bottles of wine. Liu Xiting didn’t drink, Jiang Lan and Gu Feiran drank a little, and Jiang Ci drank most of the rest.
Jiang Lan looked at her flushed cheeks and said regretfully, “We were so busy chatting during dinner that I forgot to stop her. This girl’s alcohol tolerance is poor, and she drank so much. She’ll definitely feel bad when she wakes up tomorrow.”
“Alright, I’ll go pay the bill. Honey, you and… hmm, you and Dr. Gu, help Xiao Ci out.”
Liu Xiting almost called out Xiao Ran but stopped herself and changed her words.
If she said the wrong thing in front of her wife, it might make her suspect something between her and Xiao Ran, which would be hard to explain.
“Okay, I got it,” Jiang Lan said, picking up her bag from the chair and walking over to support Jiang Ci.
Jiang Ci felt she wasn’t drunk and pulled her arms free from both of them. She stood straight and said, “I’m not drunk, just a bit dizzy. You don’t need to help me.”
With that, she slowly walked out from her seat toward the door, each step seeming to prove she wasn’t drunk.
Jiang Lan sighed and quickly followed, worried she might trip and hurt herself.
Gu Feiran watched her wobbly figure for a few seconds, then bent down to pick up her own bag, Jiang Ci’s phone, and her bag, and quickly caught up.
When the three went outside, Liu Xiting had already paid the bill.
“Xiao Ci, are you okay?” Liu Xiting walked over, concerned.
Jiang Ci smelled strongly of alcohol, her cheeks even redder than before, like apples, and her eyes were hazy. “I’m fine, no problem. Tonight was supposed to be my treat, but Aunt Liu paid again. Next time, I’ll definitely treat you back, Aunt Liu, don’t pay again.”
As she finished, her body swayed, about to fall toward Jiang Lan.
Jiang Lan gasped, slung her bag over her shoulder, and reached out to catch her. But the girl faked her out, her head spun in the air, and with a thud, without any warning, she fell straight onto Dr. Gu’s shoulder.
Gu Feiran instinctively put a hand on her back, her other hand holding the bag and clothes, hanging still by her side.
Jiang Lan’s hands froze in mid-air, her fingers slightly curled, grasping at nothing. “Uh.”
This girl sure knew who to lean on.
Liu Xiting watched, frowning slightly, hesitating to speak several times. Finally, not knowing what to say, she sighed, “This girl, really… Let’s take her back to rest.”
She hoped Xiao Ran and Xiao Ci wouldn’t develop feelings.
Otherwise, things at home would get chaotic.
Especially Xiao Ran—her mother and grandmother would never allow her to like someone from the Jiang family, especially someone like Xiao Ci, an alpha with no pheromones.
Though Jiang Ci had collapsed onto Gu Feiran, when they left the restaurant, Jiang Lan took over, supporting Jiang Ci to the car.
Jiang Ci was tossed into the back seat, and the car door slammed shut.
Gu Feiran took Jiang Ci’s bag and phone from her arm and handed them to Jiang Lan, saying, “Thanks for inviting me tonight, Dr. Jiang. Next time, I’ll treat you.”
Jiang Lan said, “You’re too polite, Dr. Gu. It’s the weekend, and I dragged you out to eat. I hope you don’t mind.”
Gu Feiran replied, “I don’t mind. I had a great time tonight. Thank you, Dr. Jiang.”
As the two chatted, Liu Xiting glanced at her watch. It was past ten. It wasn’t safe for Xiao Ran to take a cab at this hour, so she stepped forward and said, “Honey, if Dr. Gu doesn’t mind, we can drive her home. It’s on the way, along Ronghua Avenue.”
“Hmm?” Jiang Lan made a confused sound and looked at Liu Xiting. “How do you know where Dr. Gu lives?”
Dr. Gu was an S-class omega, quite special, and her address was kept confidential at the hospital, so no one asked.
Even Jiang Lan didn’t know.
And during dinner, they hadn’t talked about which neighborhood Dr. Gu lived in.
So how did this Lawyer Liu know?
“Uh, well…” Liu Xiting was caught off guard.
She quickly composed herself, using her years of lawyerly calm and authority, and said, “When you went to the bathroom during dinner, Xiao Ci asked, and I overheard.”
“Oh, I see,” Jiang Lan understood.
Dr. Gu was usually very private at the hospital, rarely joining others for meals or activities, and never casually shared her personal life. But when Xiao Ci asked, Dr. Gu told her address right away. It seemed Dr. Gu liked this girl quite a bit. If that was the case, Jiang Lan wanted to play matchmaker even more. Maybe they could end up together.
Jiang Lan looked at Gu Feiran and smiled. “Dr. Gu, since it’s on the way, we’ll drive you. No need to take a cab.”
Liu Xiting, listening, quietly sighed in relief.
Good thing her wife didn’t overthink it.
“Won’t that be too much trouble?” Gu Feiran said.
“No trouble, no trouble at all. It’s no trouble,” Jiang Lan said, grabbing Gu Feiran’s arm and leading her around the car to the other side of the back seat, opening the door.
Jiang Lan said, “Since it’s on the way, one more stop doesn’t matter. Dr. Gu, get in.”
Gu Feiran had a chance to refuse earlier, but now she couldn’t. She braced herself and said, “Alright, thank you, Dr. Jiang.”
Jiang Lan smiled brightly. “You’re welcome, you’re welcome.”
Gu Feiran bent down and got into the back seat. To her right was Jiang Ci, slumped against the window, fast asleep and drunk.
After Gu Feiran got in, Jiang Lan placed Jiang Ci’s phone and bag on her and said, “Hold Xiao Ci’s things for her.”
“Okay,” Gu Feiran took them.
Jiang Lan added, “Oh, Dr. Gu, I tossed her in quickly and didn’t buckle her seatbelt. Could you buckle it for her? And buckle yours too. Safety first.”
“Sure,” Gu Feiran turned to find the seatbelt.
The more Jiang Lan looked at Dr. Gu, the more satisfied she felt. She stood up, slammed the car door shut, and walked around to the passenger side.
Liu Xiting was about to open the passenger door for her when Jiang Lan suddenly pressed it gently and whispered, “I think Dr. Gu definitely likes our Xiao Ci.”
“Why?” Liu Xiting asked softly.
Jiang Lan said, “A woman’s sixth sense.”
Liu Xiting’s lips curved, and she leaned down to kiss her nose. “Is that why you agreed to drive Dr. Gu?”
Jiang Lan nodded. “Hmm, pretty smart, right?”
“Smart, smart. My wife is the smartest in the world,” Liu Xiting said, opening the passenger door again. “Princess, please get in.”
Jiang Lan laughed and lightly tapped her shoulder.
This woman, really.
Jiang Lan got in the car. Liu Xiting was about to buckle her seatbelt for her but stopped when she remembered her niece and cousin’s daughter were in the back seat.
After the car started, Gu Feiran buckled Jiang Ci’s seatbelt. She was quietly sleeping, head tilted.
She didn’t make a fuss—her drunken behavior was pretty good.
At this hour, there were few cars on the road. In less than ten minutes, they reached Jiang Ci’s neighborhood, a high-end apartment in the city center.
“We’re here,” Liu Xiting said, turning off the car. Outside vehicles couldn’t enter, so they parked temporarily.
Jiang Lan put her hand on the door and said, “Parking here is inconvenient. I’ll take Xiao Ci up. You drive Dr. Gu home first, then come back for me.”
“Okay,” Liu Xiting agreed.
Jiang Lan got out, went to the back seat, opened the door, leaned in, unbuckled the seatbelt, and called, “Xiao Ci, Xiao Ci, wake up. We’re home, Xiao Ci.”
Jiang Ci stirred, groggy, her eyelids too heavy to open. She mumbled, “Hmm.”
“Easy now,” Jiang Lan said, slowly helping her out.
Jiang Ci couldn’t stand steady and fell onto Jiang Lan.
Jiang Lan’s back arched sharply, and she held her up with both hands, saying, “Xiao Ci, Little Aunt’s back… Can you, can you walk?”
“I can, I can walk,” Jiang Ci said firmly, slowly standing straight, trying to show her aunt she could walk. But after a moment, she slumped onto Jiang Lan again.
Jiang Ci muttered, sounding wronged, “Little Aunt, I can’t.”
Jiang Lan hugged her. “Little Aunt knows.”
“I’ll help you take Miss Jiang back,” Gu Feiran said, getting out of the car and supporting Jiang Ci.
Jiang Lan tilted her head, embarrassed. “But it’s so late. Will it keep you from getting home to rest?”
Gu Feiran shook her head. “It’s fine. Let’s go.”
Jiang Lan was truly grateful. “Thank you so much, Dr. Gu.”
Tonight’s dinner had really troubled Dr. Gu, but Dr. Gu was so good to her family’s kid.
No wonder she wanted to play matchmaker.
Gu Feiran softly said, “It’s fine.”
The two supported Jiang Ci to the neighborhood gate, took the keycard from her bag, and swiped it to enter.
Liu Xiting watched them go in, drove the car away, and planned to return to pick them up later.
