Accidentally Marked My Ex’s Crush, the Ice-Cold Goddess O - Chapter 34: First Test
Chapter 34: First Test
After returning from the hospital, the journey was short. They didn’t say much before arriving at the neighborhood entrance, where the car slowly pulled over.
Gu Feiran closed the lunch box and said, “I didn’t finish the dinner you made. Can I take it back? Next time you come over, I’ll return the lunch box.”
Jiang Ci: “Hmm, okay.”
There were still three lunch boxes in the cabinet at home.
Gu Feiran unbuckled her seatbelt, about to get out, when she suddenly remembered something. She turned to Jiang Ci and said, “If you have time in the next couple of days, get a full-body checkup, mainly for your glands to see if there’s anything unusual. The detector can only measure pheromone levels, but glands need hospital equipment.”
That day at the ward entrance, when she heard Dr. Zhao say Jiang Ci’s glands were abnormal and life-threatening, Gu Feiran thought that was her ongoing condition. But it only lasted a few hours before it stopped, and after leaving the hospital, Jiang Ci was full of energy, eating and drinking well.
Eating and drinking well was naturally a good thing, but they needed to figure out whether her condition was sudden and temporary or something else.
If they could find out, they could prepare.
Jiang Ci nodded: “Okay, I’ll make time to come to the hospital.”
Gu Feiran: “Hmm, bye.”
Jiang Ci looked at her, “Bye.”
Following Dr. Gu’s advice, Jiang Ci booked a VIP full-body checkup early the next morning, but even with the booking, she had to wait three days to go to the hospital for the tests.
During those three days, there was a Saturday.
As they had agreed before, every Wednesday and Saturday night, she would go to Dr. Gu’s place for gland pheromone testing.
Although their first time meeting at the hotel was a blur, with Jiang Ci heartbroken from a broken engagement, drunk, and caught in a storm with all the elements aligned, it just happened. But now, it was deliberate, openly going to Dr. Gu’s place for that kind of thing, and it felt different.
So, from the moment she woke up, Jiang Ci started overthinking. At the company, she reviewed documents while mentally preparing for the pheromone test at Dr. Gu’s place that evening.
When the anxiety got overwhelming, Jiang Ci, to distract herself, opened her laptop and started writing a paper. The day before, she couldn’t write a single word, but now, in less than three hours, she wrote nearly three thousand words.
It was a way of turning pressure into motivation.
After ten at night, Jiang Ci drove to the hospital to pick up Dr. Gu from work. This time, Dr. Gu texted her in advance, telling her not to come up and to wait at the hospital entrance.
Jiang Ci followed the instructions after receiving the message.
At 10:23 p.m., after waiting about twenty minutes, her phone buzzed with a WeChat notification. Jiang Ci picked it up and saw a message from Dr. Gu.
Dr. Gu: Come over, I’m in the lobby.
Jiang Ci replied: Okay.
Jiang Ci started the car and parked near the hospital gate, avoiding the main entrance to not block ambulances.
As soon as she parked, a slim, tall figure appeared in the rearview mirror. The person opened the passenger door, bringing in a sweet fragrance as she bent to sit inside, making the car feel instantly sweeter.
Jiang Ci turned to look—it was Dr. Gu.
Her hair was down today, a classic long, straight black style. She wore a high-quality white blouse, with one button undone, revealing her elegant swan-like neck, looking refined and graceful.
Jiang Ci watched, and the tension she’d suppressed all day surged back, clogging her throat, making her unbearably nervous.
Overwhelmed by nerves, Jiang Ci stepped on the brake to start the car and nearly forgot to signal when changing lanes. Luckily, she started slowly, and there were no cars behind.
Driving, Jiang Ci was distracted, her hands gripping the steering wheel, palms sweaty. But Dr. Gu, in the passenger seat, was calm and composed, seemingly unbothered by what was to happen tonight.
The few-minute drive felt endless as Jiang Ci still hadn’t settled her emotions when they reached Dr. Gu’s neighborhood entrance.
Jiang Ci braced herself and drove in, following Dr. Gu’s step-by-step directions to park safely in the underground lot, then turned off the air conditioning and the engine.
They got out and walked side by side to the apartment, barely speaking.
Exiting the elevator and arriving at the door, Gu Feiran took two pairs of slippers from the shoe cabinet. The pair for Jiang Ci was the same gray puppy ones from last time.
Jiang Ci followed, changed into the slippers, and closed the door.
This time, they didn’t run into the aunt who lived at Dr. Gu’s place. She might have been asleep.
Before entering the bedroom, Gu Feiran turned to Jiang Ci and said, “Auntie isn’t here tonight, so it’s just us. The toiletries are ready. You can shower in the guest room and come over directly. No one will take your clothes this time. Whether you stay or leave is up to you—I won’t say anything. If you leave, I’ll still bring you here every Wednesday and Saturday. Whether you stay or go then is also up to you.”
With that, she went to her bedroom.
Jiang Ci hesitated, lingering for a moment, but realized there was no reason to. Dr. Gu was helping her, and if Dr. Gu didn’t mind, there was no point in Jiang Ci being so indecisive.
So, Jiang Ci stood in the living room for just three seconds before heading to the guest room to shower. In less than thirty minutes, wearing a bathrobe and holding her pajamas, she knocked on Dr. Gu’s bedroom door.
Gu Feiran opened the door, and their eyes met.
Jiang Ci instinctively looked away, but when she looked up again, Dr. Gu had already turned and walked off. Jiang Ci sighed quietly to herself.
Tonight, Dr. Gu wore a black camisole with lace edges, accentuating her figure. Her scent was stronger than that night but not overpowering, perfectly matching the mood.
The bedroom lights were off, pitch black, so Jiang Ci didn’t have to meet Dr. Gu’s eyes, which eased her tension a bit.
They sat face-to-face on the bed.
Gu Feiran hooked Jiang Ci’s neck, pulling her closer to put on the detector. Her warm breath brushed Jiang Ci’s ear as she spoke softly but clearly: “I’m not wearing one tonight. If the pheromone level exceeds ninety-five, the detector will sound an alarm. Last time we kissed, my pheromone level hit ninety-six, and the alarm was quite disruptive.”
Jiang Ci, nervous: “…Hmm.”
After putting on the detector, Gu Feiran withdrew her hand, resting it lightly on Jiang Ci’s shoulder, and asked considerately, “If you’re nervous, want a drink to relax a bit?”
Jiang Ci clenched her fists: “…No need.”
Gu Feiran: “Okay.”
The bedroom fell silent.
Gu Feiran didn’t rush her, sitting calmly.
After about two minutes, Jiang Ci reached out, holding Gu Feiran’s slim waist, and leaned down to kiss her, bold and unrestrained, directly teasing with her tongue.
To avoid Jiang Ci biting too hard and leaving her lips or tongue swollen the next day, Gu Feiran raised her hand, hooked Jiang Ci’s neck, and slowly guided the kiss. From breaths to lingering brushes of lips and tongues, it was gentle, tender, and lingering.
For a moment, Jiang Ci opened her eyes, looking at her in the dark, silently admitting that Dr. Gu was indeed better at kissing.
Was this natural talent?
No matter how nervous she was before, at this moment, Jiang Ci knew what to do next. As the kiss deepened, they shed their clothes, tossing them aside haphazardly.
In Jiang Ci’s mind, every time she saw Dr. Gu, she thought her frame was delicate, her figure slim, so she always brought extra food, thinking Dr. Gu was too thin. She hadn’t thought much beyond that. But just now, upon closer contact, Jiang Ci realized she’d been mistaken.
After the first round, Jiang Ci got up to rinse her mouth. When she returned, she gently cupped Dr. Gu’s face, her fingers brushing against her warm ears, and leaned down to kiss her red lips.
Earlier, Dr. Gu had told her not to kiss.
Though she wasn’t wearing a detector, Gu Feiran could feel her pheromones filling the room, her neck burning hot.
Except for that night at the hotel, during past heat cycles, Gu Feiran always used inhibitor patches and suppressants, being relatively indifferent to such needs. That’s why the first time, she lost control and went along multiple times.
This time, it was for testing, with less emotional involvement. Gu Feiran thought one or two rounds would suffice, but she didn’t expect the heat triggered by an alpha to be so hard to control. She tried several times to rein in her pheromones, but her body only reacted more intensely.
Since that was the case, Gu Feiran hooked Jiang Ci’s neck, pulling her down, and bit her gland to attempt a reverse marking. But when her teeth touched the gland, there was no response, and the air only carried her own pheromone scent, with no trace of another.
Gu Feiran tried a few more times, but it still didn’t work.
Suddenly, Jiang Ci kissed her.
Gu Feiran frowned, her hands gripping Jiang Ci’s back tightly. Sweat dripped from her forehead to her temple as she parted her red lips slightly, saying hoarsely, “Enough. Try temporarily marking me.”
Jiang Ci kissed her, unrelenting: “Hmm.”
That night at the hotel, when it ended, Gu Feiran, in a lapse of reason, let Jiang Ci bite her gland once, resulting in a full marking.
Though she didn’t know why it worked in one try, since it did, she now wanted to see if Jiang Ci could temporarily mark her. Otherwise, she’d need inhibitor patches next time, or who knew how long it would take to ease the grueling heat.
After finishing, Jiang Ci leaned down, biting her gland. She hadn’t released or retracted pheromones before and didn’t know how to inject them, so she just bit instinctively.
After a minute or two, Jiang Ci let go, propped herself up, and asked with concern, “Did my bite work?”
Gu Feiran lowered her hands, her body relaxing, “Hmm.”
The burning at her neck had lessened significantly, and her pheromones stopped spilling uncontrollably. Jiang Ci could temporarily mark her.
Knowing Gu Feiran had reached her limit tonight, Jiang Ci lifted the blanket, got up, and, recalling where she’d tossed it, found her bathrobe and put it on. She walked over and turned on a floor lamp, lighting up the bedroom.
Gu Feiran lay on the bed, pulling the blanket over her chest.
Jiang Ci didn’t look back, slipping into her slippers and heading to the bathroom. She filled the tub with warm water and returned to grab the pajamas she’d prepared, placing them by the pillow.
Jiang Ci bent down, placing them gently, and said considerately, “Dr. Gu, are you okay? Want me to carry you to the bathroom?”
She must be exhausted tonight.
Gu Feiran shook her head, her fair neck and cheeks flushed, with faint red marks below her collarbone. “No, I’ll rest a bit and go myself.”
Jiang Ci didn’t push her and stood up. “Hmm, I’ll shower in the guest room. Text me when you’re done, or we can talk tomorrow morning.”
Gu Feiran: “Hmm.”
Before leaving, Jiang Ci glanced back with concern and then left.
