Accidentally Marked My Ex’s Crush, the Ice-Cold Goddess O - Chapter 4: Marking
Chapter 4: Marking
Jiang Ci had no choice. She hooked Gu Fe露腿曲, lifted her onto her own bed, and then turned to rummage through the cabinet to see if there were any suppressants.
She searched around but didn’t find any suppressants, though she did find two boxes of finger cots.
Jiang Ci pursed her lips, put the finger cots back in the drawer, and turned to look at Dr. Gu.
Dr. Gu was lying on her side on the bed, her body tightly curled up. Her pajamas had slipped down from her thighs, revealing a large patch of skin, slender and alluring. She couldn’t help but let out a few pained sounds from her throat.
Jiang Ci glanced at her but quickly looked away.
In this situation, the only option was to check the hotel front desk to see if they sold suppressants.
Jiang Ci grabbed her room card and phone, turned to leave, but suddenly all the room’s lights went out, plunging everything into pitch darkness.
She stopped and looked around.
At the same time, a low rumble of thunder sounded outside. It couldn’t be that the rain was so heavy it caused a power outage, could it?
Jiang Ci turned on her phone’s flashlight and walked to the door. When she opened it, the light fell on a middle-aged man with no shirt on.
Jiang Ci flinched in shock: “…”
After he passed, she stepped out of the room and looked both ways down the corridor, where others were using their phone flashlights.
About five minutes later, a hotel staff member came out of the stairwell with a flashlight and said to everyone: “Sorry, everyone. Because of the heavy rain, the power lines outside are down, and the hotel has no electricity. It might not be fixed until the rain stops. Please rest early.”
“No power? What are we supposed to do?”
“My phone only charged for a few minutes.”
“Looks like we have no choice but to sleep early tonight.”
People grumbled and gradually returned to their rooms. Some were so frustrated they practically slammed their doors.
Jiang Ci stood at the door, not going back inside. When the hotel staff approached, she stepped forward and asked: “Hello, does the hotel have any suppressants?”
The staff shook their head: “No, our hotel doesn’t sell suppressants.”
“Oh, okay, thank you,” Jiang Ci said.
The staff smiled lightly: “No problem.”
Suppressants used to be common years ago, but some merchants produced poor-quality ones and let defective products flood the market.
After some alphas and omegas used them, their pheromones were affected, causing frequent heat cycles.
Some alphas and omegas couldn’t handle the torment of the heat cycles. Mild cases ended up in the hospital for a month or two; severe cases had their glands surgically removed. So, suppressants became strictly regulated.
Learning the hotel had no suppressants, Jiang Ci closed the door and walked back to Dr. Gu, deliberately shining the light at the foot of the bed.
Jiang Ci leaned closer and asked with concern: “The hotel has no suppressants. Can you hold on… Hmm…”
Before she could finish, a hand suddenly grabbed her neck, pulling her forcefully onto the bed.
“You…”
In her surprise, Jiang Ci fell onto a soft body. A pleasant scent of mandala filled her nose, somewhat intoxicating.
Gu Feiran pressed closer to Jiang Ci. Her hot palm brushed aside Jiang Ci’s long hair, resting on the gland at the back of her neck. Her other hand circled Jiang Ci’s shoulders as she whispered breathlessly: “If there’s no suppressant, you do it.”
Jiang Ci was pinned, unable to move. She turned her head, her nose brushing against the doctor’s cheek, and said helplessly: “Dr. Gu, I can’t. I don’t have the ability to mark anyone. I’ll go find you a suppressant.”
With every word she spoke, warm breath grazed her cheek.
Gu Feiran’s body, already struggling, grew even more uncomfortable. Holding her breath, she lowered her voice and said: “No need for marking. Use the finger cots.”
Jiang Ci heard this: “…”
During an omega’s heat cycle, without suppressants, traditional methods were exhausting and less effective.
“Dr. Gu.”
Jiang Ci tried to call her back to reason: “I’ll go find you a suppressant. Maybe another guest has one.”
Jiang Ci grabbed the arm on her shoulder to move it, but as she did, her lips were suddenly kissed.
Gu Feiran held her lower lip, teasing and nibbling, her tongue lightly brushing over, sending a shiver through Jiang Ci’s body, making her scalp tingle.
Jiang Ci froze, slowly lowering her gaze.
Gu Feiran’s eyes were tightly shut, her long, thick lashes striking, her skin smooth and delicate.
Even a small frown was enough to stir the heart.
Jiang Ci was pheromone-incapable and marking-incapable, but she was still functional. Being teased like this, she wasn’t a block of wood.
“No regrets?” she asked.
“Hmm,” Gu Feiran said.
Jiang Ci hummed, leaned down, and kissed her back, claiming her breath. Moments later, she tilted her head and took Gu Feiran’s earlobe in her mouth.
In that instant, Gu Feiran’s breathing stopped.
Unable to bear it, Gu Feiran turned her head away.
Noticing, Jiang Ci let go, sat up, pulled off her short-sleeved shirt, tossed it to the foot of the bed, and leaned down to continue kissing.
Gu Feiran instinctively closed her eyes, her right fingertips digging tightly into Jiang Ci’s shoulder.
Midway, Jiang Ci got up to turn off the phone’s flashlight at the bed’s foot, plunging the room into complete darkness.
Two entwined figures moved in the night.
Jiang Ci held Gu Feiran’s slender waist, her hands pressing so hard that Gu Feiran frowned, her eyes reddening, her voice breaking more with each sound.
—
The next day, when Jiang Ci woke, she was alone, hugging the blanket.
Outside, the weather had cleared. Sunlight slipped through the curtain gaps, falling on the messy bed to her right, a reminder of last night’s events.
Jiang Ci stared blankly for a while, then, realizing something, put her hand over her eyes, her brow furrowing deeply, her expression serious.
She had marked her.
Not a temporary mark—a full mark.
Last night, both thought she was pheromone-incapable and gland-incapable, so one bit without worry, and the other let her bite.
But unexpectedly, one bite marked her.
And only afterward did Jiang Ci learn that Dr. Gu was an S-level omega, a rank above even top-tier omegas.
For a regular alpha to mark a top-tier omega, it would take five or six tries, let alone an S-level omega.
Even a top-tier alpha would need several attempts to succeed, yet she had fully marked her in one go.
Jiang Ci slowly lowered her hand, staring at the ceiling. Her mind involuntarily recalled the look in Dr. Gu’s eyes last night, as if she wanted to kill her when the marking succeeded. This was a big mess.
Buzz, buzz, buzz. Her phone rang.
Jiang Ci stopped thinking, threw off the blanket, and got out of bed. She walked to the foot of the other bed, picking up her phone, which had fallen to the floor last night.
She looked at it: the caller was Little Aunt.
Jiang Ci frowned slightly, answered while quickly gathering her clothes: “Hello, Little Aunt.”
“Where were you last night?” Jiang Lan questioned her.
Jiang Ci grabbed her shirt and put it on, saying: “Uh, I found a place to clear my head.”
“You still have the mood to clear your head? The Qiao family broke off the engagement, and your grandma was so angry she was hospitalized yesterday. Get to the city hospital immediately.”
Jiang Ci didn’t dare disobey: “Okay, I’ll be there right away.”
The call ended, and Jiang Ci hurriedly put on her clothes and went to the bathroom to freshen up.
When she came out, she grabbed her phone to leave, but when she saw the trash bin by the bed, full of tissues and finger cots, she paused, then strode over and tied up the trash bag.
After, she quickly went downstairs to check out.
Last night’s rain was sudden and fierce, flooding most of the city. Luckily, the drainage system was good, and by morning, most of the water had receded, though the streets were messy, with fallen leaves and branches scattered from the strong winds.
Jiang Ci left the hotel, took a car back home, showered, and changed clothes.
She reached the hospital by one in the afternoon.
After getting out of the car, she jogged to the hospital’s inpatient department.
“This way.”
Jiang Lan, wearing a white coat, stood at the entrance, waving to her.
Hearing the voice, Jiang Ci spotted her and quickened her pace, reaching Jiang Lan out of breath.
Jiang Lan gently patted her back to help her catch her breath: “Don’t you know your grandma’s temper? After the engagement was broken, you dared to go clear your head and disappear for a whole day. If I hadn’t called Little Ning and found out you were fine, I’d have thought you jumped in the river.”
Jiang Ci stood straight and replied: “Jumping in the river? Not quite, but today I might as well.”
Jiang Lan glared at her, lowered her hand, and walked into the hospital: “The Qiao family broke the engagement. That’s their fault, not yours. Just say a few kind words to your grandma, and it’ll be fine. But instead, you walked away and vanished for a day. I’m telling you, your grandma is furious right now. Don’t talk back—just go along with her.”
Jiang Ci nodded and followed: “I understand.”
Entering the lobby, Jiang Lan asked Jiang Ci: “When Qiao Yunchi broke the engagement yesterday, she said she liked someone else. Do you know who?”
Jiang Ci shook her head: “No, I think the last name is Gu, but I forgot the name.”
Jiang Lan: “Gu Feiran, a doctor in general surgery. After breaking the engagement yesterday, she came to the hospital looking for Dr. Gu, but Dr. Gu was on a business trip.”
A general surgery doctor named Gu. It couldn’t be that coincidental, could it?
Jiang Ci thought to herself.
They took the elevator to the VIP ward floor.
With each floor the elevator climbed, Jiang Ci’s nervousness doubled.
As the display neared the target floor, her hands at her sides unconsciously clenched into fists.
Ding. Seconds later, the elevator arrived.
The doors opened slowly, and Jiang Lan stepped out first.
Jiang Ci took a deep breath and followed.
The VIP ward was quieter, without the bustle of the lower floors, but eerily silent.
They walked side by side when a doctor suddenly appeared from around the corner.
She wore a white coat, buttoned up to the collar, with a sea-blue surgical outfit underneath, complementing her slender swan-like neck.
But looking down from the neck, a bandage was clearly visible on her left collarbone.
“Dr. Gu, you’re back,” Jiang Lan greeted her warmly, raising a hand.
Dr. Gu?
Hearing the name, Jiang Ci instinctively looked up.
The other wore a mask, hiding her face, but those beautiful, deep eyes were all too familiar to Jiang Ci—the S-level omega she had accidentally marked last night.
Gu Feiran put her hands in her pockets and walked straight over, her expressive eyes fixed on Jiang Ci.
Their gazes met, and Jiang Ci felt a twinge of guilt.
When Gu Feiran reached them, she looked away to Jiang Lan and said: “Dr. Jiang, bed seven can be discharged.”
Jiang Lan smiled lightly: “Got it. Thanks for your hard work, Dr. Gu.”
Gu Feiran: “No problem.”
Jiang Ci, standing nearby: “…”
It really was that coincidental.
