Accidentally Marked My Ex’s Crush, the Ice-Cold Goddess O - Chapter 9: Aunt Liu
Chapter 9: Aunt Liu
“You can sit here if you want.” Gu Feiran looked at her for a while, then refused.
When she entered the office and closed the door, Jiang Ci lowered her head, gave a soft smile, and dropped the fragile act she had just shown.
She was just clearing her mind earlier.
Jiang Ci stood straight, regained a serious expression, picked up her laptop bag, and walked toward the other end of the hallway.
Knock, knock, knock. Jiang Ci knocked on an office door.
No sound came from inside. She waited a few seconds, pressed the handle, and pushed the door open.
The office lights were all on, very bright. Only one person was half-lying in one of the empty seats.
“Little Aunt, finished surgery?” Jiang Ci walked over and said.
Jiang Lan heard the voice, slightly opened her eyes, saw it was Xiao Ci, then closed them again to rest, saying tiredly, “Why are you still at the hospital so late? Did you go talk work with your grandma?”
Jiang Ci smiled lightly, put her laptop bag on the desk, placed her hands on Jiang Lan’s shoulders, gently massaged, and said, “It’s so late, Grandma’s definitely asleep. I came to pick you up to go home.”
“So kind?”
Jiang Lan opened one eye to glance at her, but the light was too bright, so she quickly closed it again.
Jiang Ci pretended to be caught, hissed, and explained, “Not that kind, but I really came to pick you up. Do you want to rest a bit more, or should I help you change now?”
“Now. The sooner we go, the sooner we rest.”
Jiang Lan said, sitting up to organize surgery records and reminded Jiang Ci, “Hey, keep massaging. It feels good.”
“Alright.” Jiang Ci pressed a bit harder.
Past eleven at night, Jiang Lan turned off the lights to leave. When she went to get her bag, Jiang Ci quickly stepped forward to grab it, “Little Aunt, I’ll carry it. You’ve done surgeries all day. It’s tough.”
Jiang Lan let out an “oh,” patted her shoulder with satisfaction, and smiled, “Not bad. Being President Jiang at the company really changes things. Our Xiao Ci never had this kind of awareness before, always following Xiao Xi, calling ‘Little Aunt, Little Aunt.’ Now you’re…”
Mentioning Xiao Xi, both paused.
Especially Jiang Ci, whose expression turned serious.
Jiang Lan realized her mistake, rolled her eyes, and quickly changed the topic, “Well, mainly, our Xiao Ci has grown so much. I’m very pleased, very pleased, haha, ha…”
She couldn’t help glancing at Jiang Ci several times. Her expression was clearly off.
Jiang Lan silently cursed herself. Why mention Xiao Xi, especially in front of Xiao Ci?
Her stupid mouth deserved a slap.
“It’s been a while since Little Aunt mentioned Sister.” Jiang Ci slowly curved her lips, forced a smile, and said bitterly.
Jiang Lan quickly nodded, “Yes, it’s been a while since I mentioned Xiao Xi’s name in front of you.”
Mainly because she didn’t dare mention it.
Each mention triggered a reaction. Too many mentions, and she worried it’d drive Jiang Ci crazy.
Jiang Ci gave another dry laugh, hung the bag on her shoulder, “Let’s go, Little Aunt.”
“Hmm.” Jiang Lan obediently shut up and followed.
The aunt and niece fell into a silent, awkward atmosphere.
Outside the office, waiting for the elevator, Gu Feiran slowly approached from behind.
“Dr. Jiang.” She greeted first.
Jiang Ci and Jiang Lan turned to look.
The moment Jiang Ci saw her, her eyes widened, scanning Gu Feiran up and down.
Gu Feiran had changed into casual clothes: a black sleeveless crop top, high-waisted pants, white sneakers, with a casual jacket over her arm.
Her usually tied-up hair was down, falling over her shoulders. At first glance, she had a cool, black-haired, mature vibe.
But only at first glance. She was the cold type, not to be messed with, so better not to provoke her.
So, after looking, Jiang Ci turned back.
Jiang Lan saw Gu Feiran, quickly stepped aside, waved her over, and said, “Dr. Gu’s off work too? Come wait for the elevator. It’s almost here.”
If she stayed alone with this kid any longer, her low mood would suffocate her like oxygen deprivation in a low-latitude plain.
“Okay.” Gu Feiran walked over, standing between them.
“Dr. Gu…”
Jiang Lan started to speak, wanting to chat, but her phone suddenly buzzed in her pocket.
Jiang Lan reached for it, “Sorry.”
Gu Feiran: “It’s fine.”
Jiang Lan pulled out her phone. The caller ID showed “Big Jerk.” Her brows furrowed, and her face showed displeasure.
Buzz, buzz, buzz.
The phone kept ringing, loud in the quiet hallway.
Jiang Lan had to swipe to answer, turned slightly, and said softly, “Hey, why’re you calling me?”
The other side cooed sweetly, “To pick up my dear wife, of course. You off work?”
“No.” Jiang Lan denied, annoyed.
The other side sensed her tone, quickly soothed, “Wife, I know I was wrong. I’m almost at the hospital entrance. Love you.”
With Xiao Ci and Dr. Gu there, Jiang Lan couldn’t snap at her, gave a couple of responses, and hung up. Besides, Xiao Ci came to the hospital so late, probably because work with the Fu family wasn’t going well.
She needed to make up with her to get her to pull some strings for Xiao Ci, though she wasn’t sure if the woman would agree.
Ding. The elevator reached the floor, empty. The three walked in.
When the doors closed, Jiang Lan said, “Xiao Ci, your Aunt Liu just called and said she’s here to pick me up.”
Jiang Ci looked past Gu Feiran at her aunt, asking, “So, Little Aunt, who’re you going with tonight?”
“Of course, your Aunt Liu.”
Jiang Lan said, winking at Jiang Ci. She needed to reconcile quickly to pull strings.
Jiang Ci got it instantly, “Alright, I’ll take you downstairs, and Aunt Liu can drive you home.”
“Hmm, good.” Jiang Lan said.
After speaking, Jiang Lan glanced at Dr. Gu beside her and took the chance to matchmake, “Hey, Xiao Ci, since your Aunt Liu’s picking me up, why don’t you drive Dr. Gu home? I remember Dr. Gu doesn’t have a car. It’s late, probably hard to get a taxi.”
Jiang Ci looked at Dr. Gu, radiating a “stay away” vibe, and wanted to refuse. But thinking about it, her life was still in her hands.
If Gu Feiran got upset and took her to court, even if she avoided jail, she’d have to pay a million a year.
Jiang Ci nodded, “If Dr. Gu doesn’t mind, I can drive her back.”
“No need, thanks for Dr. Jiang’s kindness.” Gu Feiran said.
Jiang Lan had just mentioned it casually, and since she wasn’t willing, she didn’t push, “Alright.”
The elevator reached the first floor, and the three walked out.
Nearing the hospital lobby entrance, Gu Feiran slowed her steps, trailing behind them.
“Wife.” Liu Xiting jogged in, saw them, and couldn’t help waving.
Jiang Lan didn’t expect her to call out so suddenly in the lobby. Her cheeks flushed red, and she took two big steps to cover Liu Xiting’s mouth, “This is a hospital. What’re you yelling for?”
Liu Xiting grinned, wrapped an arm around Jiang Lan’s waist, pulled her close, lowered her head, kissed her palm, and mumbled, “I was on a business trip. Did you miss me? I missed you.”
“Miss you, my ass.” Jiang Lan cursed, letting go.
Jiang Ci was used to their public displays of affection.
Today was tame; at least they didn’t kiss in front of her. Usually, they’d kiss before finishing two sentences.
Liu Xiting hugged her tightly, fondly patted her head.
When she looked up and saw Gu Feiran and Jiang Ci nearby, her smile froze, and she looked off.
Jiang Ci pretended not to notice, just smiled.
Liu Xiting slowly shifted her gaze to Gu Feiran beside Jiang Ci. Seeing her, her face looked even worse.
Xiao Ran… why’s she here too?
Gu Feiran tilted her head, smiled lightly, and put a finger to her lips in a shushing gesture.
Liu Xiting got her meaning.
“Alright, let go.” Jiang Lan pushed her away.
Liu Xiting didn’t dare refuse and kept some distance, mainly because these two little ancestors were behind her.
Jiang Ci walked over, handed her aunt’s bag to Liu Xiting, “Aunt Liu, this is Little Aunt’s bag.”
“Okay.” Liu Xiting took it, not daring to look up.
At her age, being seen by youngsters acting all lovey-dovey with her wife left her with no dignity or face.
But…
Liu Xiting noticed the bandage on Jiang Ci’s head and asked, concerned, “Xiao Ci, how’d you hurt your head? Is it serious?”
Jiang Ci touched the wound, smiled, and said, “I bumped it by accident. It’s fine. It’ll heal in a few days.”
“Bumped? Her grandma threw a glass at her. Luckily, it didn’t hit her eyes.”
Jiang Lan still felt scared thinking about it. Her mother was ruthless.
“What, thrown?” Liu Xiting was shocked.
Gu Feiran’s expression also changed suddenly, turning to Jiang Ci. It was thrown?
Jiang Ci didn’t want to talk about the wound, changed the topic, “Aunt Liu, don’t listen to Little Aunt. It’s nothing. Since you’re here for Little Aunt, I’ll go. Bye.”
“Alright, drive safe. Bye.” Jiang Lan didn’t stop her.
Jiang Ci: “Aunt Liu, bye.”
Liu Xiting waved lightly, “Okay, bye. Remember to change the bandage. Don’t let it get infected.”
Jiang Ci smiled, “Got it.”
After saying goodbye, Jiang Ci left. Gu Feiran also walked over, saying, “Dr. Jiang, I’ll head out too. See you tomorrow. Bye.”
Jiang Lan waved, “Bye, drive safe.”
Gu Feiran nodded lightly, “Okay.”
As Gu Feiran passed Jiang Lan, Liu Xiting instinctively glanced at her.
After Jiang Ci and Gu Feiran left, Liu Xiting held the bag in one hand, took Jiang Lan’s hand with the other, and walked to the parking lot, “Why would the old lady throw a glass at Xiao Ci? Was it because of the broken engagement?”
Jiang Lan linked arms with her, fingers intertwined, “Hmm, why else would Mother get so mad?”
“By the way, about Xiao Ci, I have something to ask you.” Jiang Lan tugged her arm.
Liu Xiting, a bit taller, bent down and said, “Hmm, rare for you to ask me for something. What is it?”
Jiang Lan leaned in, whispering word by word in her ear.
