Accidentally Marked My Ex’s Powerful Sister (GL, ABO) - Chapter 1
It had rained through the night. The sound was soft and steady, the perfect kind of white noise for sleeping.
At six in the morning, Gu Qiaqia reluctantly crawled out from under her warm blanket. Her eyes were still half-closed as she sleepily shuffled toward the bathroom. Out of the corner of her eye, she caught a glimpse of a white shadow passing by. Her heart skipped a beat and her drowsy eyes flew wide open.
That white figure floated into the kitchen. A moment later, Gu Qiaqia heard the familiar sound of a mixer, followed by the faint aroma of cream and the warm scent of baking.
She let out a sigh of relief. It was just her roommate, Ye Zhixun.
She didn’t even make it to the bathroom before gulping down her saliva and making a beeline for the kitchen door.
Inside, Ye Zhixun had her hair tucked neatly into a black beret. She was wearing a white cotton pajama set with a pale yellow apron tied around her waist. She stood straight, fully focused, holding a mixer in her long, slender fingers. Under the soft kitchen light, her skin looked smooth and porcelain white. Her thick lashes cast shadows beneath her eyes, creating a picture of calm elegance. The entire scene resembled a quiet moonlit lake, gentle and serene, full of grace and domestic warmth.
Gu Qiaqia had seen this sight many times as a roommate, yet she still found herself feeling the same admiration. If only Ye Zhixun were an Omega, she would do everything she could to marry her home.
“Zhixun, why are you up this early making desserts?” Gu Qiaqia asked after spacing out for a few seconds. Her mouth was already watering again.
Ye Zhixun had a real talent for baking. She even took a pastry course to improve her skills. Her desserts were better than anything you could buy in stores, and most importantly, she used quality ingredients you could trust.
Ye Zhixun looked up and gave her a small, gentle smile. The warmth reached her eyes, bringing a calmness rarely seen in someone her age.
Without thinking, Gu Qiaqia smiled back.
“Today is Qing’s birthday. I wanted to celebrate early with a cake and a few of her favorite dishes,” Ye Zhixun said. Her voice was soft and smooth, her tone relaxed. Just listening to her made people feel at ease.
That was when Gu Qiaqia remembered. Ye Zhixun’s girlfriend, Yu Qing, was having her birthday today.
Yu Qing was the acknowledged Omega beauty queen of Port City University and a pampered, wealthy heiress. Many people were after her, yet she had chosen the humble Ye Zhixun.
Some said Ye Zhixun wasn’t good enough for Yu Qing. But anyone who knew them knew how devoted Ye Zhixun was.
Whatever Yu Qing wanted or liked, Ye Zhixun would find a way to get it for her.
As a roommate watching from the sidelines, Gu Qiaqia felt Ye Zhixun was giving too much in this relationship. Yu Qing was simply enjoying the benefits.
But that was between them and Gu Qiaqia knew better than to interfere.
“I almost forgot. I’m still half asleep. Hehe… Could you save me some scraps?” she asked, eyes sparkling.
“I’ll make extra,” Ye Zhixun replied while still working. “But it’s tailored to Qing’s taste, so it might be a bit sweeter than what you’re used to. If you don’t mind, I’ll give you whatever’s left.”
“Of course I don’t mind. I’d love that. Is there anything I can help with?” Gu Qiaqia offered. She realized that the extra portion was meant for her, and she felt a little guilty just standing there.
“No need. It’s still early. Go back to sleep. I’ll wake you when it’s done,” Ye Zhixun said.
She was weighing ingredients precisely. When it came to Yu Qing’s preferences in desserts, Ye Zhixun had it down to the milligram. The sweetness, softness, and texture were all adjusted to Yu Qing’s exact liking.
Gu Qiaqia watched for a moment, then scratched her cheek awkwardly.
“Yu Qing is really lucky. I feel lucky too, knowing both of you. I’ll treat you two to dinner another day,” she said before finally heading to the bathroom.
The rain was still falling outside, now joined by the gentle hum of the oven.
Ye Zhixun glanced at the soft yellow glow from the oven and then at the pot of porridge simmering on the stove.
While everything was cooking, she pulled a small box from her pocket. She opened it to reveal a custom-made ring. Her lips pressed into a tight line, nervous but sweetly hopeful.
She had spent most of her savings on this ring. It was for proposing to Yu Qing.
This year marked the third anniversary of their relationship. Ye Zhixun was in her final year of university and had just secured a full-time job.
It wasn’t exactly the best time to get married, but Yu Qing had hinted several times that she wanted Ye Zhixun to mark her officially. She complained that suppressants were uncomfortable and didn’t want to keep using them.
Ye Zhixun had been raised by her grandmother, a traditional scholar of Chinese classics. With parents too busy for family life, Ye Zhixun had always yearned for a warm, stable home. Her grandmother taught her that an Alpha should only mark their Omega after marriage.
From the day she started dating Yu Qing, Ye Zhixun had seen her as her future wife. After much thought, she decided to propose on Yu Qing’s birthday.
If the proposal succeeded, they could marry after graduation.
Ye Zhixun was never materialistic. Her own needs were simple. But Yu Qing had a taste for beauty and luxury, from fashion to food.
To satisfy her, Ye Zhixun had learned to cook and bake. For everything else, she worked multiple part-time jobs while managing her studies.
She majored in photography and took freelance gigs from studios or individuals. She also ran a social media channel, sharing short videos of the meals she made for Yu Qing, slowly building up a following.
She did everything she could, all for Yu Qing.
And once they were married, she would work even harder.
The thought brought a spark of light to her calm eyes.
When the cake base was done, Ye Zhixun carefully carved out a small hole and placed the sealed ring box inside. She covered it with homemade cream, decorated the cake with delicate piping and calligraphy that read “Happy Birthday,” and topped it with Yu Qing’s favorite strawberries.
As she finished, the anticipation in her chest grew. She imagined Yu Qing cutting into the cake, seeing the ring, and bursting into tears of joy.
Yu Qing was the kind of girl who cried easily. She would definitely cry.
Ye Zhixun figured she’d better prepare a few jokes to cheer her up afterward.
By eight o’clock, everything was ready. Ye Zhixun knocked on Gu Qiaqia’s door.
“Qiaoqiao, breakfast and dessert are on the table. Make sure to eat. I’m heading out first,” she said softly.
Gu Qiaqia, having gone back to sleep after her bathroom break, was suddenly wide awake. Tempted by the smell of food, she jumped out of bed.
By the time she came out, Ye Zhixun had already left with the insulated food box and the beautifully packaged cake.
All she saw was Ye Zhixun’s tall and slender back disappearing through the door.
Yu Qing didn’t live here. She stayed in a nearby luxury apartment complex, one that was notoriously difficult to rent and very expensive.
Yu Qing had wanted Ye Zhixun to move in with her, but Ye Zhixun didn’t think that was appropriate. Instead, she chose to live with Gu Qiaqia in a shared apartment nearby so she could easily cook for Yu Qing.
Wearing a raincoat, Ye Zhixun walked through the rain, carefully protecting the food box and cake. She entered the residential area using the keycard Yu Qing had given her.
The rain was getting heavier. Puddles had formed on the ground. She took the nearest entrance to the underground parking lot, which was connected between buildings.
As she approached Yu Qing’s building, a familiar black luxury van pulled into a parking space. Ye Zhixun’s entire body tensed. Her footsteps stopped, and she quietly slipped behind a pillar to hide.
The van door opened, and a tall woman stepped out.
Her chestnut brown curls were pinned up. She wore a black pinstriped suit and silver ankle boots. The fitted suit emphasized her narrow waist. With every graceful step, her hips swayed slightly, elegant but not exaggerated. She was the very image of poised beauty.
Ye Zhixun looked down, not daring to make eye contact. Her heart pounded as she listened to the woman’s confident footsteps fade away.
That woman wasn’t a stranger. She was Yu Qing’s half-sister, Yu Li, and the current head of the Yu family.
Yu Li was a cold and stunning beauty, always composed and powerful.
Ye Zhixun had met many people with strong presence before, but Yu Li still made her nervous. She blamed it on having a fear of breathtaking beauties. Plus, she’d heard from Yu Qing how Yu Li had reshaped the entire Yu Group with an iron will and had once witnessed her losing her temper. To Ye Zhixun, Yu Li was terrifying.
Since Yu Li lived in the same complex as Yu Qing, they occasionally crossed paths. Whenever she could, Ye Zhixun would avoid her.
After waiting a while, she slowly made her way toward the elevator.
Meanwhile, on the eighth floor of Victoria Garden in a lavishly decorated apartment, a girl in a soft pink princess-style nightgown furrowed her brows and puffed out her cheeks. One hand was pressed to the gland on her neck while the other held a phone.
“Qing, Song Feiyu, the youngest daughter of the Song family, is an S-rank Alpha. You’ve met her. She’s beautiful, has a powerful family, and she clearly likes you. If you date her, your brother will gain the Song family’s support. That would give him a major edge in the upcoming board election. If he becomes chairman of the Yu Group, your future marriage will elevate your status both in the Song family and in society.”
“Don’t be stubborn. Don’t tell me you’re still clinging to the idea of true love with Ye Zhixun. What is true love worth? She has no background. Her parents are just schoolteachers. What can she do for you or our family? End it quickly. And don’t think Song Feiyu doesn’t know about Ye Zhixun.”
The voice on the phone was Yu Qing’s mother, her words sharp and relentless.
Everything Yu Qing had been struggling with over the past few days was laid bare.
She had her eye on a handcrafted lace gown designed by the famous designer Fillière, one she wanted to wear for her birthday party. But she couldn’t even get permission to borrow it.
Song Feiyu made one phone call, and the dress was delivered, complete with matching jewelry.
It wasn’t just about money. It was about connections and status.
Wearing that dress at the party tonight would make her the center of attention and the envy of everyone there.
What could Ye Zhixun possibly do?
Yu Qing didn’t even dare tell her about the dress she liked, afraid to make her feel pressured.
Just yesterday, Song Feiyu had only released a trace of pheromones, and Yu Qing’s glands had already reacted. Even now, they still felt warm and sensitive. If she didn’t get a temporary mark from an Alpha, she would have to rely on suppressants.
But she hated using suppressants.
Ye Zhixun had always said that marking was something that should only happen after marriage.
So old-fashioned.
Song Feiyu was clearly interested in her. The look in her eyes made her desire plain and obvious.
And she was such a rare and appealing match.
But then there was Ye Zhixun.
Yu Qing’s thoughts swung back and forth, her heart weighing both sides with uncertainty.
She closed her eyes as the scent of her rose pheromones slowly spread through the room.
The doorbell rang, pulling her thoughts back. She knew it was Ye Zhixun.
“Mom, just let me think about it,” Yu Qing said to her mother, unwilling to say more.
After ending the call, the doorbell rang again, and a wave of irritation washed over her.
She had already registered Ye Zhixun’s fingerprint for the door. There was no need to ring the bell every time and make her come open it.
So annoying.
That sound, which used to make her heart flutter, now just made her feel frustrated.
With a small huff, Yu Qing walked to the door. She looked at the smart screen and saw Ye Zhixun standing outside, carrying things in her hands.
Seeing her eased Yu Qing’s mood just a little.
Ye Zhixun was dressed simply. Under her clear raincoat, she wore a basic sports outfit and had no makeup on.
But she looked good anyway.
Taller than most Alphas, with naturally elegant proportions and long legs, she had a gentle face that wasn’t sharp or aggressive but calm and quietly attractive.
She fit Yu Qing’s aesthetic perfectly.
Yu Qing had fallen for her at first sight because of that face and had been the one to pursue her.
At first, she only planned to date her for a few months. But Ye Zhixun turned out to be more than just good-looking. She knew how to take photos that made Yu Qing look stunning, took great care of her, and could cook everything from Chinese dishes to western pastries.
Being with her had felt so comfortable and natural.
Even though Yu Qing knew she wasn’t the right person to marry, she had never been willing to let her go.
Ye Zhixun, even if she weren’t her girlfriend, would make an ideal personal assistant or caretaker.
But who would ask their ex to take on that role? And what kind of ex would agree?
Yu Qing puffed out her cheeks slightly, took a breath to calm down, and finally opened the door.
When Ye Zhixun saw Yu Qing standing there, she smiled.
Yu Qing looked as soft and sweet as ever. The kind of Omega who seemed born to be pampered, like a warm little ball of cotton candy.
Just as Yu Qing liked Ye Zhixun’s gentle face, Ye Zhixun also adored Yu Qing’s appearance. She was exactly the kind of Omega she used to dream about.
“Qing, why aren’t you wearing shoes? Hurry and put on your slippers,” Ye Zhixun said as she stepped inside. When she noticed Yu Qing’s bare, pale feet, she quickly looked away and didn’t stare.
Yu Qing silently watched as Ye Zhixun set down the boxes and bent to fetch her slippers. Without saying a word, she slipped them on.
Ye Zhixun hung her raincoat on the wall, changed into house slippers, then carried the food boxes into the living room. She stopped by the central air control panel and turned on the dehumidifier and air circulation.
Rainy days with heavy humidity always made Yu Qing feel uncomfortable. After raining for so long, the room’s air was already past her comfort zone.
Yu Qing knew exactly what every one of Ye Zhixun’s actions meant. She cared deeply, and it showed in everything she did.
But still…
Earlier, Yu Qing had deliberately released a lot of pheromones into the room and hadn’t turned on the ventilation system. That scent still lingered in the air.
Any ordinary Alpha would be flustered and overwhelmed in this environment. Some would already be showing signs of heat. But Ye Zhixun remained completely composed.
She calmly set the food box and cake on the table and began to unpack everything, placing each dish carefully like she always did.
Before Ye Zhixun could finish, Yu Qing moved closer.
Ye Zhixun had a slight trace of rain on her and the faint scent of bamboo from her body wash. But there was no trace of pheromones on her.
She really didn’t react to Yu Qing’s pheromones at all.
Feeling her approach, Ye Zhixun’s body stiffened slightly and she instinctively took a step back.
“Qing, what’s wrong? Are you not hungry?” Ye Zhixun asked. She sounded gentle as always, but there was a small, almost unnoticeable tension in her expression.
Yu Qing stared at her quietly. Seeing her take that small step back made the frustration in her heart rise again, stronger than before.
She didn’t want to chase her anymore.
She had never planned on turning this into a long-term relationship.
So maybe it was time to stop.
Three years was enough.
“Ye Zhixun, let’s break up,” Yu Qing said calmly.
