Accidentally Marked My Ex’s Powerful Sister (GL, ABO) - Chapter 3
When Ye Zhixun left Yu Qing’s place, she took nothing but her thermal lunchbox, the cake, her handbag, and raincoat. After walking just a few steps outside, she was completely soaked. Her clothes clung to her skin, damp and icy. The chill of early autumn soaked through her bones.
After Yu Qing said she wanted to break up, she even called security to escort Ye Zhixun out. Ye Zhixun had no choice but to leave.
Yu Qing wanted her to mark her, and Ye Zhixun had thought their relationship had reached the point of marriage. She never imagined Yu Qing would choose to end things instead.
“Ye Zhixun, you’re so old-fashioned and boring. After being your girlfriend for so long, I haven’t even smelled your pheromones. You’re just not good enough. You don’t act like an Alpha. You don’t understand what an Omega needs from an Alpha. Being with you is exhausting, and the future looks the same. I’ve put up with it for a long time. I don’t want to drag this out anymore. Let’s break up, and please don’t cling to me.”
Yu Qing’s soft and sweet voice gave her an explanation, but the words were colder than the rain. Her tone and expression felt shockingly unfamiliar.
Did Yu Qing just want her to release her pheromones and give her a temporary mark?
Yu Qing used to get whatever she wanted. No matter how expensive or difficult it was, Ye Zhixun would find a way to get it for her and make her happy.
But when it came to pheromones and temporary marking, Ye Zhixun refused.
For her, there was always a barrier in front of that line.
“Zhixun, releasing pheromones in front of an Omega is very impolite. You must learn to control your scent. Don’t let it take over you.”
Her grandmother had once told her that only Alphas who could perfectly control their pheromones were truly respectable Alphas.
Releasing pheromones without marriage was impulsive, reckless, and disrespectful to Omegas.
“Ye Zhixun, to be a qualified scout, the first thing you must train is pheromone control. No matter the time or place, you must never leave a scent trail.”
Her summer training instructor had also drilled this into her, even giving her special training. She’d passed with high marks. The instructor said her control was even stronger than their own.
Years of training made it second nature. Her glands were almost dormant. Her body emitted no pheromone scent at all.
Since her secondary gender differentiation, Ye Zhixun had never experienced heat or sensitivity. Her emotions were always calm and stable.
And now Yu Qing wanted to break up with her because of this.
Everything about Yu Qing felt off, from her tone to her behavior. It wasn’t like her.
Ye Zhixun couldn’t help but feel something else was going on. Something Yu Qing hadn’t told her.
She had a guess.
Was Yu Qing trying to pressure her into giving a temporary mark by using a breakup as a threat?
Break up unless I mark her?
“Ye Zhixun, I’ll give you one million if you leave my sister.”
“If you don’t break up with Qing soon, I can make sure you won’t graduate. Think it through.”
Ye Zhixun remembered what Yu Qing’s brother Yu Qi had said to her. At first, he offered money to break them up. Later, he directly threatened her.
Yu Qing’s mother never liked her either.
Yu Qing had once said she would let Ye Zhixun mark her and turn their relationship into a done deal, even if her family disapproved.
Now, as Ye Zhixun walked through the side gate of Victoria Garden, the cold rain hitting her face, her thoughts felt oddly clear.
By early afternoon, the rain was still falling. Gu Qiaqia, who had been called out by her advisor, wasn’t in a great mood. The rain was so heavy that even with a raincoat and umbrella, her shoes and pants got soaked. It was incredibly uncomfortable.
She needed to collect data for an experiment. Her roommate Ye Zhixun was spending the day with her girlfriend for her birthday, so she wouldn’t be home. Gu Qiaqia ordered takeout for lunch.
As she ate the overly salty, greasy meal, she opened Ye Zhixun’s food video channel to watch something while eating.
Ye Zhixun never showed her face in her videos. She rarely even spoke. Ingredients and instructions were displayed in text.
Still, the lighting and camera work were excellent. Her hands were especially beautiful, and the food she made looked incredibly appetizing. She had gradually attracted a following of hand fetish fans and food lovers, gaining over 100,000 followers.
The latest video was a compilation of footage from that morning, when Ye Zhixun had been cooking.
Gu Qiaqia marveled at her time management. She had done so much in one morning.
Halfway through the video, Gu Qiaqia saw Ye Zhixun sealing a ring box and placing it inside the cake.
She nearly screamed.
So Ye Zhixun had been quietly planning a proposal?
This blogger is so cheesy, haha
Wow, she’s proposing. After watching her cook for her girlfriend all this time, I’m dying to see who this fairy is that made the blogger fall so hard.
Wait, that ring box has the DAWN logo. Is that the custom piece from that designer? I heard you have to book six months in advance. It’s ridiculously expensive. This blogger really loves her.
Gu Qiaqia checked the comments. As expected, everyone was talking about it.
Thanks to one commenter, she learned about DAWN, a mysterious luxury designer. The rings not only required months of wait time but cost a fortune, often in the six-figure range. Gu Qiaqia was stunned.
Ye Zhixun rarely talked about her parents. All Gu Qiaqia knew was that they were both teachers, and she had a grandmother living in the countryside. Their family background didn’t seem wealthy.
Ye Zhixun had always worked part-time. When not with Yu Qing, she was busy working. She was the definition of a self-made student.
She spent nearly all her money on Yu Qing. How did she still afford a ring like that?
Did she take out a loan?
Or strike it rich somehow?
Either way, it was insanely generous. Almost too much.
“Did you hear? That piano major, Yu Qing, is hosting her birthday party on the Victoria yacht. Anyone invited should gather at the north gate. There’ll be a shuttle. Rich people really live differently.”
“Yeah, and did you see the screenshot of her post? Someone said she called it a single party. She and that photography girl broke up. The campus forums are blowing up.”
While Gu Qiaqia was still reflecting on the proposal video, she overheard two younger students gossiping as they entered. At first, she didn’t pay attention, but when she heard the last part, she suddenly looked up.
She immediately grabbed her phone and checked Yu Qing’s Moments post.
Thanks to Ye Zhixun, she had added Yu Qing as a friend.
“Hello, twenty-two. It’s both a birthday party and a single’s celebration. Happy birthday to me.”
The post had only been up a short time but already had hundreds of likes. Many comments read “Happy breakup” with party emojis.
Gu Qiaqia couldn’t believe it.
She had just seen the video of Ye Zhixun preparing to propose. And now Yu Qing had dumped her?
She refused to believe it.
She stepped outside and called Ye Zhixun.
No answer.
She tried again. Still no answer.
If this was real, Ye Zhixun must have been devastated.
Could she be alright?
Gu Qiaqia didn’t care about the assignment her advisor had given. She packed up, threw away her unfinished lunch, grabbed her bag, and rushed back to their apartment in the rain.
When she opened the door, the lights were off. She switched them on and saw a pair of soaking wet shoes on the entry mat.
They were Ye Zhixun’s.
Gu Qiaqia let out a breath of relief. She changed into slippers and looked around.
Not in the kitchen. Not in the bathroom. She knocked on the bedroom door.
“I’m here,” Ye Zhixun replied from inside.
Gu Qiaqia opened the door and saw her.
She wasn’t crying in a corner like Gu Qiaqia had feared.
Instead, she was calmly packing her photography gear. Next to her was a travel bag.
Camera, lenses, stabilizer, tripod, cables, memory cards, Ye Zhixun was carefully placing each item into a backpack for travel.
Her expression was composed, giving nothing away.
And that, to Gu Qiaqia, felt even worse.
“Zhixun, what are you doing?” she asked, not knowing how to offer comfort.
“I’m scheduled to film at Yu Qing’s birthday party tonight,” Ye Zhixun said. Her voice was steady, showing no emotion.
“I heard that you and Yu Qing broke up. That’s not a joke, right?” Gu Qiaqia was confused. For a moment, she wondered if she had misunderstood everything. Maybe they hadn’t broken up at all.
“It’s true,” Ye Zhixun replied after a short pause. She gave a small nod.
“It’s true? Really? Then why are you still going to film her birthday party?” Gu Qiaqia couldn’t believe it.
“We agreed to it in advance,” Ye Zhixun said. She paused again and looked at her. “Qiaqia, do you smell any pheromones in this room?”
Ye Zhixun had made her decision. Between losing Yu Qing and crossing the line to release her pheromones for a temporary mark, she had chosen the latter. She had gone against her own principles.
Marriage had always been her goal with Yu Qing, and that hadn’t changed.
So earlier, she had tried to release her pheromones to prepare for the mark. But maybe it had been suppressed for too long, or maybe she didn’t know how. She couldn’t even smell it herself.
She started to doubt if something was wrong with her glands. Was Yu Qing right after all? Was she really incapable?
“You tried to release pheromones?” Gu Qiaqia sniffed the air but didn’t notice anything.
Ye Zhixun paused. If even Gu Qiaqia couldn’t detect it, then maybe there was a real problem.
“Your clothes are wet. Go change. I made lunch. You can get some from the kitchen later,” she said, clearly avoiding the topic. She looked down and continued packing her bag.
Gu Qiaqia couldn’t understand her anymore.
She had rushed home in the rain to comfort someone who had just been dumped, but Ye Zhixun was so calm. She was still going to Yu Qing’s party to film?
It was just like her to stay composed through everything.
Gu Qiaqia hadn’t eaten much earlier. After all the running around, she was cold and starving. Since Ye Zhixun seemed fine, she went to her room to change.
Maybe Ye Zhixun still had a plan. Maybe she believed she could win Yu Qing back.
People break up and get back together all the time.
The thought gave Gu Qiaqia some relief.
She got dressed, called Ye Zhixun to come eat. But Ye Zhixun said she had already eaten, so Gu Qiaqia just helped herself.
After packing her gear, Ye Zhixun returned to the kitchen.
“Aren’t you heading to Yu Qing’s birthday party?” Gu Qiaqia asked while washing her dishes.
“I’m making a latte for her,” Ye Zhixun said as she pulled out a sealed coffee tin. She placed a measuring cup on the digital scale and carefully began to weigh the beans.
“Is that the Gesha beans you bought last time?” Gu Qiaqia asked, recognizing the tin.
“Yes. Do you want a hand brew or a latte?” Ye Zhixun asked.
“Hand brew. I’ll buy the next bag,” Gu Qiaqia answered before she could stop herself. She had meant to say no, but her mouth acted on its own.
Ye Zhixun didn’t say anything and simply started brewing two cups.
Gu Qiaqia took a sip and felt like crying. A roommate like this was one in a million.
Where could you even find a girlfriend this thoughtful?
Compared to Ye Zhixun, she felt like she was just coasting through life.
She wanted to say something more, maybe thank her, but her phone rang. As soon as she picked up, her advisor’s angry voice filled the line.
She quickly replied with apologies, voice low and respectful.
“Zhixun, I’m heading out. If anything happens, call me,” she said after ending the call.
“Don’t worry. I’m fine,” Ye Zhixun nodded.
Gu Qiaqia left in a rush. She had the feeling she was forgetting something, but couldn’t remember what, so she let it go.
After finishing everything, Ye Zhixun packed her things and headed to the hotel where Yu Qing’s birthday party would be held.
Her phone was still at Yu Qing’s place.
She hadn’t thought to check anything online, so she didn’t know the venue had changed.
“Seton Grand Hotel, please,” she said after hailing a taxi.
As she sat in the back seat, she frowned, thinking about her pheromones.
If her scent was truly ineffective, how could she possibly win Yu Qing back?
She looked out the window, her heart heavy.
At a red light, the car came to a stop. Her gaze fell on a small, inconspicuous sign.
Alpha Energy Station – Fuel Your Core
Struggling to release your pheromones?
Want your Omega to crave you?
It was the kind of ad she usually wouldn’t even glance at.
But this time, she couldn’t look away.
