Accidentally Marked My Ex’s Powerful Sister (GL, ABO) - Chapter 5
When Yu Li arrived at the lobby of the Seddon Grand Hotel, she caught sight of someone trying to make themselves inconspicuous, a tall figure hunched over, head bowed, clutching an oversized backpack like an ostrich burying its head in the sand. But no matter how much they tried to shrink, their height made them stand out.
Yu Li recalled what her assistant had mentioned in the car earlier.
It seemed Yu Qing had changed the venue for her birthday celebration, and this little girlfriend of hers hadn’t gotten the memo, showing up at the hotel only to find no one there.
Now curled up on a sofa in the lobby, she looked dazed and pitiful.
A thought flickered through Yu Li’s mind but vanished just as quickly.
Stepping into the elevator, Yu Li followed the staff member to the meeting room where she was scheduled to meet with Sales Director Lowell.
But barely two floors up, she felt her already uncomfortable condition worsening.
An omega’s glands were particularly sensitive during their estrus cycle, and rest at home was usually advised. Most omegas could get through it with suppressants in a day or two.
Yu Li’s case, however, was different.
Before leaving Victoria Harbour Court, she had injected suppressants at a higher concentration than usual.
Under normal circumstances, she would have pushed through and handled her important tasks.
But as fate would have it, the unexpected happened.
Her condition wasn’t stabilizing, it was deteriorating.
Yu Li’s expression darkened. Would she fail not because of her opponents’ schemes, but because of her own body?
She didn’t cancel her plans.
Upon reaching the designated floor, Yu Li first went to the restroom and took the emergency medication Qin Shuangxue had prepared for her.
The side effects might leave her feeling worse later, but she had no choice.
“President Yu, the autumn collection featuring yellow diamonds, Second Uncle Yu fought hard for that line. Since you’ve already handed it over to him, is meeting with Lowell really necessary? Second Uncle supports the eldest young master. Given your current condition…” Zhu, her secretary, whispered to her, noticing Yu Li’s discomfort.
“Lowell rarely comes to Hong Kong. I don’t want to be discourteous,” Yu Li replied, keeping her true intentions to herself.
Zhu watched her with concern but could do nothing more.
After leaving the restroom, Yu Li proceeded to the meeting room as scheduled and met with Lowell.
She didn’t allow her secretary, assistant, or any staff to enter the room.
Half an hour later, when Yu Li emerged from the meeting, her back was drenched in sweat. Her body trembled slightly from the strain, desperate for support, but the person who steadied her wasn’t her familiar secretary or assistant. Instead, it was a hotel staff member in uniform.
“Ma’am, you don’t look well. You must be in heat. Let me take you to the isolation room,” the staff member said, supporting her.
Yu Li knew she had been set up. For her loyal secretary and assistant to disappear, the other party must have invested heavily, she had no idea how many accomplices were nearby.
The staff member’s grip was firm, and Yu Li was in no state to resist. For now, she allowed herself to be led forward without protest.
Meanwhile, in the hotel’s surveillance room, a man who appeared to be a senior staff member stared intently at the monitors, a walkie-talkie in hand.
His expression was tense, betraying his nervousness.
Yu Li’s reputation in Harbor City was well-known to her, but faced with immense benefits and having compromising evidence in someone else’s hands, she had no choice but to comply.
The order had been relayed over the phone at the last minute, leaving no time to find a suitable candidate.
Taking advantage of the situation was out of the question.
“Take her to Isolation Room 004,” the person deliberated for a moment before murmuring into the walkie-talkie.
Isolation rooms were used to handle special cases, alphas or omegas whose pheromones had leaked beyond safe levels.
There weren’t many dedicated isolation rooms, and more than half were empty.
The doors couldn’t be opened from the inside until the pheromone levels in the room dropped to acceptable standards. Only staff could open them from the outside, allowing others to retrieve the occupants.
Room 004’s monitoring system showed the highest pheromone concentration inside. The alpha within was an exceptionally rare SSS-grade, though his identity was that of an unremarkable college student, expendable, in other words.
Yu Li was also famous for her self-control.
At twenty-nine, she had remained single, refusing to bond with an alpha. Even at parties crowded with alphas and thick with pheromones, she handled herself effortlessly.
Countless had tried to exploit her omega status, yet all had failed.
Even after triggering her heat with scent stimulants, success wasn’t guaranteed.
This SSS-grade alpha, however, had a higher chance of success. And since he was just some insignificant nobody, disposing of him afterward would be simple. Even if he couldn’t break Yu Li, the overwhelming pheromone concentration in the room would prevent them from opening the door from the inside.
The person supporting Yu Li heard the order through their earpiece and guided her to Isolation Room 004.
Yu Li was slowly regaining her strength, but her scent gland burned hotter, her pheromones spilling out uncontrollably.
As the isolation room door opened and she was pushed inside, her right hand brushed the side of her left wristwatch, a high-end limited-edition mechanical watch, specially modified with a stun function capable of knocking out an adult.
Once the door closed, Yu Li braced herself.
But the moment she took a breath, things took a turn for the worse.
The room was saturated with an alpha’s pheromones.
The scent itself was faint, reminiscent of some floral note, but laced with the thick, unmistakable musk of an alpha in rut.
This pheromone was unlike any Yu Li had encountered before.
She was highly sensitive to alpha pheromones even the slightest trace was enough for her to detect. Normally, she found them repulsive, sometimes even nauseating.
Yet the pheromones in this room… she didn’t recoil from them. Instead, her scent gland burned hotter, her body weakening, legs buckling. She leaned against the door before sliding down to the floor, limbs too limp to move, her mind clouded with shameful thoughts.
Yu Li remembered what Qin Shuangxue had once told her, if she ever encountered an alpha whose pheromones were compatible with hers, she wouldn’t reject them. Instead, they would stir desire.
Who would’ve thought that after meeting so many alphas, the one she’d find compatible would be during a setup?
Or maybe…
He had used some unknown drug on her?
Yu Li bit the tip of her tongue, trying to stay alert as she scanned her surroundings. Her right hand had already activated the stun function of her wristwatch—anyone who approached and made contact would be electrocuted.
Yet to her surprise, the bright, minimalist room contained no alpha.
Wait!there was one!
Yu Li looked up and saw a figure on the corner bed, long legs dangling, upper body buried under a blanket.
Now, the blanket was half-drawn over their head, revealing a young, pretty face with a slightly dazed expression.
Yu Li froze. She never expected the alpha in this room to be Ye Zhixun, the woman she had seen in the lobby earlier!
The person before her had dark eyes glazed with a misty sheen, glistening and rimmed with red. She didn’t look like an aggressive alpha at all more like an omega who had been wronged.
What kind of alpha in their rut gave off such a pitiful vibe?
The absurdity of it struck Yu Li, but the familiarity didn’t ease her guard.
What if this was all a setup? What if this seemingly “pitiful” creature was just waiting to lunge and “bite” her?
Pressing her lips together, Yu Li locked eyes with the other woman, her wristwatch primed and ready.
But instead of pouncing, the woman rubbed her eyes, then like prey spotting a predator scrambled backward into the corner of the bed. Despite her tall frame, she curled into a ball under the blanket, retreating yet unable to tear her gaze away from Yu Li. Her breathing was ragged, swallowing hard at intervals, like a beast eyeing its prey yet held back by some invisible restraint.
By now, Ye Zhixun had been in the isolation room for over half an hour.
For thirty minutes, her marking fangs had itched relentlessly, her pheromones surging uncontrollably.
Pheromone production was a physiological process some people secreted less, making their cycles easier, while others produced more, enduring longer and harsher periods.
A rut was the body’s way of releasing pent-up pheromones.
For years, Ye Zhixunn had barely noticed her ruts.
But this time, it was as if a dam had broken, unleashing years of accumulated pheromones all at once.
Restlessness stirred beneath her usual calm.
Yet with no prior experience not even the slightest exposure due to strict upbringing and disciplined pheromone control, she had no idea how to handle this turmoil.
She was like an ant on a hot pan.
Then, someone else entered the room.
A new scent, an omega’s pheromones flooded the space.
And Ye Zhixun completely lost it.
Her muddled mind could no longer distinguish reality from delusion.
Some part of her recognized the woman as dangerous.
But the omega’s pheromones were an intoxicating lure, guiding her restless energy toward a single, primal solution.
Alpha instincts surged.
Her marking fangs trembled with excitement, as if savoring the scent of prey.
[Pounce. Bite her.]
[So sweet. So sweet.]
[She must taste divine.]
[Hurry. Don’t hesitate.]
Her consciousness split, one voice urging her forward, while a fraying thread of reason tugged her back.
Her entire body tensed in the struggle, brows furrowing in discomfort as the mist in her eyes grew thicker, looking on the verge of tears.
Yu Li was enduring the discomfort while keeping a wary eye on Ye Zhixun. Seeing the expression on Ye Zhixun’s face, her heart skipped a beat.
The influence of the pheromones in the room grew stronger, and Yu Li’s scent gland burned as if melting, swollen and inflamed, with large patches of reddened skin spreading across her neck.
Her breathing grew erratic.
Earlier, she had feared the other might lunge at her, but now, a part of her was hoping for it—for those marking fangs to pierce her gland.
If she had once suspected Ye Zhixun of being an accomplice to the mastermind behind this, seeing her like this now, she must have been forced into this situation as well.
The concentration of pheromones in the air only intensified, and Yu Li’s breaths became heavier.
Sensing that the other wouldn’t approach for the moment, Yu Li lifted her wrist and opened the cover of her watch, activating a hidden customized function to make a call. But the signal in the room seemed to be blocked, she couldn’t get through.
Frowning, she realized she might be stuck here for a while, unable to contact the outside world.
Would she have to endure this torment the entire time?
She had strong self-control, but she wasn’t made of steel there were limits to what she could withstand.
The alpha’s pheromones carried a pleasant floral scent, elegant and serene, yet the components unique to an alpha’s rut were thick and overpowering, intoxicating in their dominance.
Yu Li exhaled sharply, mustering her strength to first lock the door from the inside, ensuring no one could enter.
When she looked back at Ye Zhixun, the woman was wrapped in the blanket, letting out pained whimpers as she rolled and curled into an even tighter ball in the corner.
With a soft click, Yu Li reached out and turned off the lights, plunging the room into darkness.
“Come here.”
Her voice was low and hoarse in the dimness, the last syllable trembling slightly.
The sound of restless movement stopped.
In the dark, Yu Li could see the lump under the blanket go still, eyes reflecting faint glimmers like scattered starlight in the night.
She waited a few seconds, but the other remained frozen.
“Come here!”
Yu Li’s tone sharpened with impatience, carrying a commanding edge, louder and more severe than before.
The rustling of fabric was followed by a dull thud against the floor, she could feel the other finally approaching.
The sound of a swallow echoed loudly in her ears, and the exhale of breath carried a wave of thick pheromones toward her.
The length of the released restraint seemed to reach only a few centimeters from Yu Li’s face before going slack.
Closing her eyes, Yu Li reached out and pressed her hand against the back of the other’s head, severing the tie.
