Accidentally Pursued The Female Lead (GL) - Chapter 6
In a room filled with the scent of apple, the person sprawled on the large bed was dozing off against a book.
“Xiao Mian?” A woman pushed open the bedroom door. Seeing that Shen Mian had actually fallen asleep, she walked to the bedside, sat down, and patted Shen Mian’s back, calling out, “Xiao Mian.”
She was Shen Mian’s mother, Liang Minzhen.
Half a month ago, when Liang Minzhen and Shen’s father, Shen Tianrong, returned from their trip abroad, they found that the person waiting for them at home was no longer the spoiled daughter who wouldn’t exchange a single word with them. Instead, she had become an obedient daughter who would offer water when they were thirsty and massage their shoulders when they were tired.
Feeling Shen Mian’s warm embrace, the couple’s first thought was: Had Shen Zhixing implanted some kind of robot chip in their precious daughter? Or had their daughter caused another big trouble? Did they need to persuade their eldest son not to be angry?
But after seeing Shen Zhixing’s smiling face and Shen Mian’s meticulous care, these two thoughts were dispelled by the couple. They quickly accepted that their daughter had grown up and matured.
In the following half month, enveloped by Shen Mian’s affection, the couple didn’t even get angry when they found out that Shen Mian had skipped a year and a half of classes. They simply said to Shen Zhixing:
“She’s already skipped them, what are you still fussing about? Didn’t you say you’d find a tutor for Xiao Mian? Just have her catch up properly then. Xiao Mian has finally started smiling at us; don’t you go scaring her with a long face.”
Shen Zhixing, who originally wanted to educate his mother on parenting but ended up being educated himself: “?”
Then his face instantly darkened even more.
Woken up by the patting, Shen Mian groggily opened her eyes, sat up, and nuzzled Liang Minzhen’s shoulder, calling out softly, “Mom.”
In her previous life, she had never been so affectionate with Liang Minzhen, and by the time she realized it, it was too late.
On the first day of her rebirth, she had longed for Liang Minzhen and Shen Tianrong to come home. The reason she hadn’t called them was that she didn’t want to convey her affection through a cold machine. Instead, she wanted to open her arms and hug them tightly, telling them ‘I love you’ after feeling each other’s warmth.
Liang Minzhen hummed in response and said, “Wake up, the teacher has arrived and is waiting for you.”
Shen Mian became completely awake when she heard the word ‘teacher’.
A month ago, Shen Mian had been at school for just an hour when she was notified that the academic advisor needed to see her.
Under the strange gazes of her classmates, Shen Mian got up and walked to the office alone. She had thought that the advisor felt she had ‘returned to the right path’ or wanted to meet her, a student they had never seen before, which was why they were looking for her.
But when she arrived at the office and saw the smiling academic advisor and the gloomy-faced Shen Zhixing, Shen Mian realized she was wrong.
Terribly wrong.
She shouldn’t have believed that the meticulous assistant Mu wouldn’t sell her out!
Shen Mian turned to leave, but Shen Zhixing called out to stop her.
After entering the office, Shen Mian heard on her left:
“Half of your monthly allowance will be deducted.”
“Starting today, you will attend classes obediently.”
“After this, I will take you to school every day, and Mu Ye will pick you up after school.”
“The class bell has rung, go to class.”
Shen Mian felt a sense of relief after these words were spoken. Just as she was about to wave goodbye to the person with the dark face, she heard him say again:
“The courses from the first and the first half of the second year, I will find a tutor for you during the summer vacation to help you catch up.”
Apart from this sentence, everything the dark-faced person had said before went in one of Shen Mian’s ears and out the other. Only this sentence kept echoing in Shen Mian’s mind.
Hire a tutor?
Other college students were going out to tutor part-time, but she, a dignified twenty-year-old independent female college student, was not only not tutoring but also hiring a tutor to come home?! Wouldn’t that make people laugh if word got out?
But all the complaints in her heart was sealed in her throat when she saw the dark-faced person narrow his eyes.
Just because…
The law of old-fashioned overbearing President novels: anyone who narrows their eyes is a monster!
Shen Mian was scared.
Smelling the faint fragrance on Liang Minzhen, Shen Mian looked up and sighed deeply.
Her summer vacation had only just started yesterday, and the tutor Shen Zhixing had hired for her had already arrived today.
Reaching out and tugging on Liang Minzhen’s sleeve, swaying it back and forth, she pleaded coquettishly, “Is tutoring really unavoidable?”
“You can talk to your brother. If he agrees, you don’t have to do it.” Liang Minzhen felt a little sorry for her daughter seeing her like this.
Hearing Liang Minzhen’s words and remembering Shen Zhixing’s dark face, Shen Mian resignedly asked, “Where is the teacher?”
“The study.”
••••
Shen Mian held a book in one hand, the rolled-up book bent into an arc. Today, she was wearing a white floral long dress, and her bangs were clipped back with a slender hairpin, making her look much more ladylike than usual.
The Shen family’s study was on the second floor, an open-plan space with simple and clear European-style decor.
After replying to a message her classmate had just sent, Shen Mian looked up and saw her tutor sitting on the sofa next to the coffee table in the study.
The tutor was a woman with long, light, wavy hair dyed ash brown, giving her a knowledgeable and cool appearance.
She was also wearing a dress, but it was even simpler than Shen Mian’s, a plain beige long dress without any decorations or patterns. She wore white short heels, accentuating her fair and slender ankles.
The woman was facing Shen Mian directly, but she was currently looking down at a book, black rimless glasses perched on her small, straight nose, a serious expression between her brows.
After clearly seeing her face, Shen Mian changed her posture of holding the book to a double-handed embrace in front of her chest, stopping obediently in place.
The woman noticed Shen Mian’s arrival from the corner of her eye, shifted her gaze from the open book to Shen Mian, stood up, and introduced herself:
“Hello, Miss Shen. I am your tutor, Xie Qiaoyu.”
Xie Qiaoyu’s voice was soft, with a clear smile as she spoke. Everything about her demeanor was normal, but to Shen Mian, it was incredibly unbelievable.
“Qia… Sister Qiaoyu.”
How could Xie Qiaoyu become her tutor??!!
