15: Teased Every Day, Loving It Every Day
“President Shuang, there’s a large sell-off order during the opening auction.”
Luo Ningshuang furrowed her brows, deep in thought for a moment. “Support it.”
As time ticked by, the tension in the room grew palpable. Gu Xi, for the first time, felt her rebirth was utterly useless—she could only wait anxiously.
“President Shuang, the market’s open. It’s hit the daily limit down.” Everyone turned to Luo Ningshuang, awaiting her instructions.
Meanwhile, retail investors watching the stock were in despair.
“Damn it, not even a chance to escape!”
“I got in yesterday, and today I’m already wiped out.”
“Trash dealer.”
Luo Ningshuang calmly issued her command: “Pull it back to yesterday’s opening price. Buy as much as you can.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
In an instant, LS’s trading volume surged, with massive capital flows pushing the stock onto the front page of financial news, drawing widespread attention.
“Holy crap, this volume is insane!”
“What’s going on? This is wild—better watch and wait.”
“Yesterday’s news made me think it wouldn’t matter. I was wrong. Dealer, give me a chance to get out!”
“Trash! I sold, and now you’re pulling it up!”
The battle raged on. Suddenly, Jiang Wenxi spoke up: “President Shuang, the shares of the Luo Group are also under attack. What should we do?”
Luo Ningshuang remained silent, hands clasped, her fingertips rhythmically tapping her arm.
Seeing her lack of response, Jiang Wenxi was about to ask again, but Gu Xi tugged at her, shaking her head to signal silence.
The atmosphere grew heavier as funds dwindled rapidly. Then, someone shouted, “President Shuang, the sell-off orders are decreasing!”
Luo Ningshuang’s eyes sharpened as she issued a commanding order: “Lock it in.”
At the same time, Jiang Wenxi exclaimed excitedly, “President Shuang, the Xiao Group is also being hit. Their stock price is getting hammered—they’ll likely shift to protect their own.”
“President Shuang, a huge influx of capital just came in. It’s hit the daily limit up and locked!”
“Yes!”
The room erupted in cheers and applause, but Luo Ningshuang didn’t join in the celebration. Gu Xi knew the Xiao family wouldn’t give up so easily.
“Holy hell, a floor-to-ceiling reversal! What did I miss?!”
“Haha, good thing I didn’t sell!”
“I sold too early and missed billions. Oh well, those who held are getting rich. Bye.”
“Today’s a trap for bulls. It’ll crash on Monday—I’ll watch you all jump off buildings!”
“Get lost, hater.”
Seeing the team’s excitement, Luo Ningshuang’s expression softened, and she smiled. “Everyone worked hard today. After the market closes, you’re free to leave. I’m treating everyone to dinner at Chenghuang Hotel.”
“Five-star Chenghuang Hotel! Long live President Shuang!”
“Thank you, President Shuang!”
Luo Ningshuang nodded and left with Jiang Wenxi and Gu Xi. Back in the CEO’s office, she asked, “Secretary Jiang, how much capital do we have left?”
“About 2.2 billion.”
Gu Xi was stunned. They burned through that much in one morning?
She’d thought they could hold out for days.
“Got it. Book a private room at Chenghuang Hotel for tonight.” Luo Ningshuang said, rubbing her temples.
“Right away.”
Seeing Luo Ningshuang’s exhausted expression, Gu Xi’s heart ached. It wasn’t easy for a woman to shoulder such a massive business empire.
“Are you okay?” Gu Xi asked cautiously.
Luo Ningshuang’s gaze locked onto her, making Gu Xi’s heart skip a beat. She had a feeling this woman was about to tease her again.
“I’m fine. When I first started, things were far tougher than this. By comparison, this is nothing.” Luo Ningshuang said with a slight smile, her eyes lowering as her tone turned playful. “What, feeling sorry for me? Hmm~”
Gu Xi flushed, feeling exposed, and reflexively retorted, “Who’s feeling sorry for you? I’m worried about the money! If you go bankrupt, who’s gonna pay my 20,000-a-month salary?”
“Little money-grubber, come here and give me a shoulder massage.” Luo Ningshuang teased, mentally labeling Gu Xi as someone who says one thing but means another. She beckoned with a playful finger.
Gu Xi wasn’t thrilled. A shoulder massage felt too intimate. “Why should I? Get someone else to do it.”
Luo Ningshuang stretched her neck, her tone tinged with mock regret. “You’re my personal assistant. If you can’t even do this, what can you do? Looks like you don’t want that 20,000 anymore.”
Gu Xi pouted. This woman always used money to threaten her. One day, she’d make a fortune, throw it in Luo Ningshuang’s face, and make her give the massage.
“Fine, I’ll do it. What’s the big deal?” Gu Xi muttered reluctantly.
She shuffled over, and Luo Ningshuang turned, pointing to her shoulders. Gu Xi rolled her eyes and began gently kneading. Honestly, she wanted to pinch hard enough to make her cry, but alas, Luo Ningshuang was the boss.
Luo Ningshuang’s shoulders were soft, yet they carried so much weight.
“Put some strength into it.” Luo Ningshuang said.
Gu Xi, still annoyed from earlier sympathy, pressed harder, thinking, Take that, you jerk.
“Ow, easy!” Luo Ningshuang winced, frowning slightly.
Gu Xi slapped her shoulder in irritation. “Make up your mind! Harder, lighter—quit nagging, or I’m done.”
“20,000…”
Fine, money talks. Gu Xi softened her touch, muttering under her breath, “One day, I’ll bury you in cash.”
Luo Ningshuang heard her but didn’t mind, a smile tugging at her lips as she leaned back, relaxing against Gu Xi.
Gu Xi didn’t think much of it at first, but when her gaze drifted downward, her pulse quickened. She swallowed hard, eyes glued to the sight.
With Luo Ningshuang leaning against her, the view of her chest was fully exposed—a dazzling, pale expanse. Gu Xi’s mind wandered: Soft and smooth… wonder what it feels like?
Her hands unconsciously slid lower until Luo Ningshuang sensed something off. “What are you doing?”
Snapping back to reality, Gu Xi realized her hands were inches from Luo Ningshuang’s chest. She yanked them back, flustered. “Nothing! Just… thought your chest looked small, so I was gonna massage it bigger.”
Damn it, I said that out loud!
Luo Ningshuang glanced down at herself, speechless. It wasn’t that small, was it?
Gu Xi cursed inwardly, This vixen! Always teasing, always electrifying. If this kept up, she’d turn into a wolf herself.
No way. She couldn’t let this seductress win. Luo Ningshuang was a wolf in sheep’s clothing—dangerous.
Sensing a mischievous smile from Luo Ningshuang, Gu Xi quickly changed the subject. “So, uh, what’s your next move?”
Luo Ningshuang saw through the deflection but played along. “Originally, I planned to have my sister register a media company overseas, but now we’ll have to put that on hold.”
“You’re entering the entertainment industry? Why not partner with Lan Qingxue? Blue Sky Media hasn’t made waves in movies or TV, but web dramas—have you considered those? They could explode in the future.” Gu Xi’s eyes lit up. She couldn’t help much with business, but entertainment? As a former “ghost” drifting around, she’d witnessed plenty—gossip, scandals, and all.
Her presence, though, often brought bad luck to the stars she followed.
Luo Ningshuang’s interest piqued. “I don’t know about future hits, but right now, web dramas are immature. Two words: cheap. Cheap scripts, cheap actors, cheap effects. It’s hard to make anything substantial.”
“You’re wrong. It’s not ‘cheap’—it’s low-cost operations. The Xiao family dominates the domestic market with AC Media. Since you can’t tap overseas markets to dodge them, start with web dramas, the least valued sector in China.”
Luo Ningshuang fell into deep thought. Seeing her interest, Gu Xi pressed on. “Think about it. Big-budget films get hyped, but how many are truly quality? With a good script and actors, a low-cost web drama can still take off. It’s like us authors—great writing breaks through anything!”
“Hmm~ ‘Us’? Authors?” Luo Ningshuang raised an eyebrow, her tone teasing.
Damn my big mouth. Gu Xi stammered, “N-no, I meant web novel authors! So many flop, but with hard work and ambition, anyone can rise to the top, heh!”
Luo Ningshuang smirked at Gu Xi’s flustered state and teased further, enunciating each word: “Oh~ So it’s not ‘us,’ it’s… web… novels.”
“Cut the crap. What do you think of my idea?” Gu Xi snapped, kicking her lightly in frustration.
“Ouch, that hurt! Don’t you know how to be gentle?” Luo Ningshuang bent down, rubbing her calf.
Knock knock. Jiang Wenxi entered with an insulated lunchbox. “Aunt Lan sent food.”
“Just leave it there.” Luo Ningshuang said.
“Alright.” Jiang Wenxi set it down, glancing back as she left.
Luo Ningshuang pulled Gu Xi to the sofa and opened the lunchbox. Each dish was artfully arranged, a feast for the eyes and appetite. “Eat up.”
But Gu Xi was still sulking. She’d poured out her ideas, and Luo Ningshuang hadn’t acknowledged them. How could she eat?
Seeing Gu Xi’s puffed-up cheeks, Luo Ningshuang chuckled and gently pinched her nose. “Little money-grubber, your idea’s great. I just need time to figure out the details. Don’t be mad—eat, be good~”
Gu Xi froze, the faint scent of orchid lingering as Luo Ningshuang’s fingers pulled away.
Teased again! Gu Xi grabbed her food and shoveled it down, fuming. She was losing her patience!
“Slow down, have some veggies.” Luo Ningshuang said, amused, placing a few dishes in front of her. But then her phone rang. Seeing the caller ID, her eyes turned icy.
Gu Xi glanced over.
Xiao Feng!
