- Chapter 12 - The Couple Vibe Between My Husband and Someone Else
The man wore a deep blue military uniform, the chain on his chest swaying gently with each movement. Three badges adorned his black cap, and his face seemed to be covered in a layer of frost. An aura of authority radiated from him, causing the others to instinctively lower their heads, shrinking their presence.
They then saw Vice Chen salute the man in the blue uniform, wondering if this person held a higher rank than Vice Chen himself.
Only Luo Le knew that the man on the stage was the Admiral, the object of everyone’s fervent admiration. Yet he couldn’t understand why Huo Lanjing had come. Did he have something to say to him?
As Luo Le pondered this, he suddenly caught Vice Chen leaning in to whisper something in Huo Lanjing’s ear. His heart jolted.
Huo Lanjing’s ears flushed easily and he loathed being touched, even disliking people getting too close. Luo Le rarely got to touch them, only occasionally taking advantage of moments of passion to steal a touch.
But now, Vice Chen was whispering in his ear without the slightest change in expression, as if it were perfectly normal.
Just how intimate are they in private?
Luo Le’s mind was a tangled mess, unsure how to react.
Beside him, Feng Cheng nudged him. Brother Le, what’s wrong? Brother Le? he whispered.
Luo Le snapped out of his thoughts. Nothing. Don’t touch me. He disliked being touched casually, especially given the distinction between Alphas and Omegas.
Oh, right, Brother Le. That man on stage looks like Admiral Huo. He’s so imposing! I want to become someone as powerful as him someday.
Luo Le hummed in acknowledgment. Then work hard.
On the stage, Huo Lanjing swept his gaze across the crowd, unconsciously releasing his pheromones. The rich, cold scent of pine spread through the air, and the restless crowd quieted instantly.
This is Admiral Huo, Supreme Commander of the First Legion. He will now lead us in the oath.
Huo Lanjing lazily lifted his gaze, glanced at Vice Chen, then turned his attention to the crowd.
Pressing his right hand against his chest, he solemnly recited the oath
I swear to join the Imperial Army, to uphold military discipline… to be ready at any moment to sacrifice my life for the Empire, to shed my bl00d on the battlefield. The Empire’s interests come before all else. This oath shall endure forever.
Luo Le gazed into Huo Lanjing’s eyes, which radiated unwavering resolve and deep-seated faith, and recalled their first encounter.
At the time, Luo Le had just learned he was being forced into marriage with the Huo Family’s only son—a prospect he vehemently opposed.
Coincidentally, he overheard his instructor mention inspecting mechas at the First Legion. Seizing the opportunity, Luo Le begged his instructor to let him accompany him, hoping to get a glimpse of this so-called Huo Lanjing and form his own impression.
After much pleading, his instructor finally relented.
The weather that day was dismal, with persistent rain and thick fog shrouding the landscape.
In the Mecha Hangar, Luo Le followed his instructor. The massive floor-to-ceiling windows offered a clear view of the training grounds outside.
Just as Luo Le finished installing a mecha arm, a resonant oath echoed from beyond the glass.
Compelled, he approached the window, leaned against the glass, and lowered his gaze slightly. There stood Huo Lanjing, clad in military uniform.
Though fine rain drifted through the dim, overcast sky, Huo Lanjing stood on the platform, radiating an almost luminous aura.
Noticing Luo Le’s rapt attention, the instructor approached. Xiao Le, this is the outstanding student I’ve been telling you about.
There was a legend at the school about a student from the Alpha Department who, on graduation day, single-handedly achieved the highest scores in every Mecha exam—a record that remains unbroken to this day.
No one knew the identity of this legendary student, though rumors pointed to Huo Lanjing.
Luo Le turned to his instructor, guessing, Teacher, is that Huo Lanjing?
The instructor looked puzzled. How did you know?
Just a guess.
Luo Le glanced down at the aloof figure below, thinking that marrying someone like him might not be so bad after all.
For the next four years, he treated Huo Lanjing with genuine sincerity, showering him with daily warmth, care, and unwavering devotion.
He always thought of Huo Lanjing first, buying him things he thought would suit him whenever he saw them while shopping.
If Huo Lanjing wasn’t home, Luo Le would leave the gifts at home. When Huo Lanjing returned, Luo Le would proudly present them with a goofy grin.
Yet Huo Lanjing only avoided him and misunderstood his intentions.
After accepting Luo Le’s gifts, Huo Lanjing would deposit the market value of the items into Luo Le’s account the very next day, as if terrified of owing him anything.
This pattern persisted throughout their four years together.
What’s the relationship between Vice Chen and the Admiral? It doesn’t seem simple.
I think they’d make a good couple.
Yeah, they’re always so close, always touching… it’s so cute!
The people nearby were speaking loudly enough for Luo Le to hear every word.
Enough is enough.
He stepped forward. Don’t you know Admiral Huo is married?
The man glared at Luo Le. What’s it to you?
Another chimed in, Exactly! Even if he’s married, so what? Everyone knows the Admiral has been fighting all over the galaxy for years and never returns to the Empire. I bet he doesn’t even like his wife. This marriage is doomed.
Luo Le felt like he’d been struck by a small arrow. He fell silent.
They were right. Huo Lanjing truly had no affection for him.
But then it hit him Wait, that’s not right!
Even if Huo Lanjing didn’t love him, even if they might divorce later, they weren’t divorced yet.
He was still Huo Lanjing’s wife.
Just as he was about to retort, the man added, Besides, don’t you think Admiral Huo and Vice Chen have great chemistry?
CP vibes…
Luo Le froze.
Had he really fallen so low as to be forced to ship his own husband with someone else?
In that moment, he desperately wanted to reveal that he was Madam General.
But before he could speak, Vice Chen on the stage mentioned Huo Lanjing again.
Admiral, do you have any words for our soldiers?
The crowd’s attention shifted back to the stage.
Huo Lanjing nodded, stepped forward, and looked in Luo Le’s direction.
I hope none of you came here with ulterior motives.
Luo Le stared into Huo Lanjing’s inscrutable eyes, his heart suddenly aching, his eyes burning with unshed tears.
This was clearly directed at him.
Had Huo Lanjing come here just to warn him?
After delivering this line, Huo Lanjing turned and left.
Vice Chen then spoke about the First Legion’s history and some important regulations.
Luo Le couldn’t focus, his mind consumed by Huo Lanjing’s words.
After the briefing, someone came to escort them to their dormitories.
Luo Le refused to go. He couldn’t bear the thought of squeezing into a cramped dormitory with four or five other people.
After parting ways with Feng Cheng, Luo Le headed toward Huo Lanjing’s workplace.
When he arrived, Huo Lanjing was absent, leaving only Captain Lin present.
Madam, are you here to see the Admiral? Captain Lin asked.
Luo Le nodded.
Captain Lin led Luo Le to the office and cautioned, Please refrain from touching the documents on the desk, Madam.
Luo Le glanced down at the neatly arranged files and waved dismissively. Alright. He had no interest in those documents anyway.
After Captain Lin left, Luo Le walked over and settled into the chair. The air was filled with the crisp scent of pine resin, Huo Lanjing’s signature fragrance. He leaned back against the cushion, closed his eyes, and feigned sleep in a comfortable posture.
When Huo Lanjing returned after finishing his duties, he opened the door to find Luo Le leaning back in the chair, his face radiating contentment. A vein twitched on his forehead.
Luo Le.
Startled, Luo Le jerked upright. He saw the grim-faced figure standing in the doorway. Remembering the day’s events, he rose angrily and strode toward Huo Lanjing, demanding fiercely, Who was that man?
Huo Lanjing looked down at Luo Le’s accusing finger, his expression puzzled.
He brushed her hand aside. I have no idea what you’re talking about.
With that, he stepped past Luo Le and walked inside.
