Admiral, Your Wife Is Gone ABO - Chapter 16
Still recovering from his illness, Luo Le wasn’t sure if he could handle strenuous exercise.
Yang Liqing glanced at the brightest star in the crowd, his lips curling into a smirk.
Report before speaking next time.
Luo Le paused, then gave a noncommittal Oh.
Do you think your physical fitness isn’t up to par? Yang Liqing pressed.
Luo Le nodded without hesitation. Yes.
A strange smile stretched across Yang Liqing’s face.
If you think you can’t keep up, then train harder and strive to catch up. What else can you do?
Luo Le tugged at the corner of his mouth, thinking Instructor Yang had a rather twisted sense of humor.
After his initial Oh, Luo Le fell silent.
But I’m not completely heartless. If you collapse on the training field, I’ll have someone carry you to the medical bay.
The recruits wiped away imaginary sweat, suddenly realizing they were in for a grueling time.
Yang Liqing’s expression turned stern.
Alright, form two lines starting with the two Alphas at the back. Begin your morning run.
The Alpha leading the group asked, Sir, how long should we run?
Until you can’t run anymore. Don’t slack off—I’ll be monitoring your holographic feeds in real-time.
As soon as he finished speaking, the Alphas began to run, one after another.
What should I do? My stamina is terrible, the Omega to Luo Le’s left said, looking down worriedly.
The Alpha to his right tilted his head to look at the Omega.
Don’t worry, I’ll run slowly with you. If you faint, I’ll carry you to the hospital.
The Omega chuckled playfully, Get lost.
The Alpha thumped his chest. Don’t be scared, I’ve got you covered.
Luo Le cleared his throat, reminding them, Aren’t you going to catch up?
The Alpha glanced at the others ahead, then looked at Luo Le with a troubled expression.
Bro, you go ahead. I’ll run with him.
Luo Le nodded in agreement and took the lead.
His unique constitution meant that, for some reason, no commercially available Mecha could be configured for him to pilot. Yet he was deeply passionate about Mechas.
From a young age, he had aspired to become a Mecha Fabricator, determined to create a Mecha he could pilot himself.
Being a Mecha Pilot required not only mental and emotional fortitude but also exceptional physical stamina. Pilots often spent days at a time sitting, focused on solving complex problems.
Luo Le had understood this since childhood, which is why he had been focusing on physical training from a young age.
Overall, despite his naturally weak constitution, his training had brought him to an acceptable level.
The only question was whether his body, having endured the Starburst, would rebel.
Sure enough, by the eleventh lap, he was exhausted and trailing behind the group.
The front runners were mostly Alphas, while the rear, including Luo Le, consisted of five Omegas.
He was also the Omega closest to the Alphas.
After another five laps, Luo Le was completely spent.
Looking back, he realized he was the last one.
Nausea churned in his stomach.
He staggered to a corner and dry-heaved repeatedly into the ground, but nothing came up.
Suddenly, a pack of tissues appeared before him. Are you alright?
It was the Alpha from earlier. The Omega behind him nodded with a smile.
Luo Le returned the smile and took a few tissues. Thank you.
The Alpha shrugged. No problem. We’re all in the Mecha Fabricator class.
The Omega nudged him with his elbow.
He’s right. I’m Bai Feifei, and he’s Ye Ziting.
Luo Le shook hands with him. Nice to meet you both. I’m Luo Le.
Bai Feifei tilted his head, the name sounding familiar.
Luo Le’s legs were trembling violently, though his military uniform concealed most of it. Still, it was noticeable.
Bai Feifei stepped forward. Let me help you sit down over there.
Luo Le, breathless, nodded and allowed Bai Feifei to guide him to a seat.
You really pushed yourself too hard, running so many laps. Considering how slender you are, I didn’t expect you to be so tough.
Luo Le had been gasping for air by his eighth lap. He’d collapsed on the track, feigning death, until Ye Ziting carried him to rest. After a while, he finally felt like he was alive again.
Luo Le shook his head. I’m not tough.
His gaze burned as he watched the Omega running neck-and-neck with an Alpha.
Bai Feifei followed his gaze and, recognizing the face, patted Luo Le on the shoulder.
That’s Hai Qiling, Admiral Lin’s son from the second planet. He’s been training since childhood. We can’t compare to someone like him.
Luo Le shook his head, unconvinced.
He looks about my age, Luo Le remarked.
Bai Feifei nodded in agreement. That’s true, but he’s been training with the military since he was a kid.
Just as she was about to offer a comforting word, her peripheral vision caught sight of a tall, stern figure. She gasped, Holy crap, Admiral Huo! What’s he doing here?
Luo Le looked up in surprise and met Huo Lanjing’s deep, unfathomable gaze.
Huo Lanjing’s brow furrowed slightly, his expression unreadable. What was the Admiral doing here?
Yang Liqing wiped the sweat from his forehead. He rarely visited the training grounds anymore.
Has our Admiral taken an interest in some new recruit? he wondered. Or does he think our training methods are flawed?
When Huo Lanjing finally shifted his gaze and moved on to inspect another unit, Yang Liqing let out a sigh of relief.
Yet he still felt the Admiral’s lingering gaze, faint but unmistakable. Each time, Yang Liqing stiffened, terrified of being summoned for a private conversation.
Being called in for a talk on his very first day leading troops would be disastrous for his reputation.
Does the Admiral think I’m being too harsh? He glanced around the training ground and saw only a handful of recruits still running.
Alright, stop! he bellowed. Gather around!
Luo Le, Bai Feifei, and the others gradually assembled.
Once everyone was assembled, Instructor Yang raised his hand, conjuring a display stand from thin air.
Alright, today we’ll start with the basics of mecha brands, key features, common issues, and structural components.
On the stand lay a disassembled mecha.
Mecha are divided into head, torso, limbs, and connecting joints. They’re classified into ranks SSS, SS, S, A, B, C, D, and E.
The highest-rank mecha a pilot can fabricate depends on their Mental Power level. For example, a pilot with A-rank Mental Power can only create A-rank mecha, with limited room for refinement through skill. Currently, the Empire’s ‘Teacher Tang’ holds the highest Mental Power rank Double S. Despite dedicating his entire life to the craft, he only ever produced one SS-Class mecha. In the decades since his passing, only a single S-Class mecha has been created.
Luo Le had learned this in his basic mecha theory classes. Moreover, the sole SS-Class mecha now belonged to Huo Lanjing.
However, Luo Le had never seen the mecha. He had requested to view it twice, but Huo Lanjing had refused both times.
After that, he stopped asking.
