Admiral, Your Wife Is Gone ABO - Chapter 46
Professor Yu, during my last test, some of the readings fluctuated abnormally. I have a preliminary idea and I’ll try to finish the report by tomorrow.
The mention of research quickly diverted Yu Bing’s attention, and he stopped pressing for further details.
Luo Le rushed to complete the report, finally finishing it by the morning of the third day.
He felt somewhat guilty toward Yu Bing, having produced no tangible results. He had previously vowed to remain involved in the research, but now he was withdrawing.
As soon as the report was finished, Luo Le sealed it in an envelope and hurried to Yu Bing’s office.
When he arrived, Yu Bing wasn’t there, only a teaching assistant. Luo Le handed the report to the assistant and left.
Leaving Yu Bing’s office, Luo Le immediately boarded the warship—the same one as before.
The warship, painted in alternating shades of black and blue, resembled a phantom prowling through the darkness.
Suddenly, Captain Lin’s voice rang out Madam, please follow me.
Luo Le glanced at the long line of people behind him but asked no questions. He nodded and followed Captain Lin away.
They walked down a long corridor to the innermost room on the left.
Madam, this is your room.
Thank you for your trouble.
You’re too kind, Madam. The Admiral’s room is right across the hall. If you need anything, you can contact me directly or him.
Luo Le followed his gaze and saw the nameplate behind him, which read Huo Lanjing.
When he turned back, he noticed that the nameplate on his own door was blank.
As if sensing his confusion, Captain Lin stepped forward and slid a card with Luo Le’s name into the slot.
Luo Le glanced at the nameplate and asked, No need to arrange anything, right? This should be very close to the war zone.
The war zone was on the Ninth Planet, and they were currently on the Ninth Planet. Logically, it shouldn’t be far.
Captain Lin smiled and explained, We need to make a detour to another location before returning. It will likely take four days.
Madam, please go in and rest.
Luo Le didn’t press further. Mm.
Captain Lin nodded with a smile and left.
Luo Le pushed open the door and entered. The room’s furnishings were superior to the previous one, and the sofa’s material was completely different.
He grabbed his collar and shook it, having pulled an all-nighter the previous night. When he woke up, he realized it was almost time for the assembly.
He had been running the entire way, and now his body felt sticky and uncomfortable. He decided to take a shower and rest.
The bathroom was connected to the bedroom. After retrieving a set of pajamas from his ring space, he stepped into the shower.
In the vast office, Huo Lanjing sat by the massive floor-to-ceiling window, his tall, slender frame draped in a chair, legs crossed.
He wore a cream-colored turtleneck sweater, and his hair still carried a damp sheen, likely from a recent shower.
A palpable aura of coldness radiated from him.
Admiral, the夫人 has been delivered.
Huo Lanjing closed the book in his hand and glanced up. Hmm.
Your orders have been disseminated. We’ve also been trying to contact him, but we haven’t been able to reach him.
Huo Lanjing turned his gaze to the starry expanse beyond the window. As soldiers, sacrificing for the Empire is an honor. Prepare yourselves.
Captain Lin placed his right hand over his chest and bowed. Yes, sir.
Luo Le emerged from the shower wearing only his underwear, a bath towel wrapped around his head as he haphazardly dried his hair.
His room was next to Huo Lanjing’s. Who had lived here before?
As Luo Le pondered this, his hand reached for the remote on the table, only to brush against a card.
He picked it up curiously and flipped it open, revealing the familiar three characters Chen Wuxing.
Luo Le paused, then silently placed the card back down.
So Chen Wuxing had lived here before.
Now that he was staying here, where was Chen Wuxing?
The next moment, Luo Le shook his head, dismissing the thoughts. Why am I even thinking about this?
Once this is over, I’ll be gone. What happens to Huo Lanjing has nothing to do with me.
Sleepiness gradually washed over him. Luo Le leaned back against the sofa, closing his eyes.
He had only meant to doze off for a bit, but when he opened his eyes again, it was evening. The room was pitch-black, and his head throbbed.
What happened? How did I fall asleep here?
Suddenly, there was a knock at the door.
Luo Le opened it to find Captain Lin standing outside.
Madam, the Admiral is looking for you.
What does Huo Lanjing want with me?
After tidying up, Luo Le followed him inside.
When Luo Le entered, Huo Lanjing was leaning back with one hand behind his head and the other holding a book, his gaze lowered.
The sight of Huo Lanjing immediately irritated Luo Le. He strode over and glared down at him. Did you need something?
Huo Lanjing slowly raised his eyes and set down the book. Sit.
Captain Lin tactfully closed the door behind them. As the door clicked shut, Luo Le reluctantly took a seat.
Hurry up. I have other things to do. Luo Le didn’t want to waste time here his head throbbed, and he longed to sleep.
Huo Lanjing remained calm and composed. Let’s talk.
He had been wanting to talk to Luo Le for some time, but recent events had kept getting in the way.
Luo Le’s temper flared at Huo Lanjing’s nonchalant demeanor. If you have something to say, just say it. Stop summoning me here every day. Can’t we resolve this once and for all?
You’ve been acting very strange lately.
Luo Le scoffed. Strange? Not at all. I’m perfectly normal. Besides, weren’t you the one who stopped caring about me? Why the sudden interest? Or have you finally fallen in love with me?
As Luo Le’s mouth moved, Huo Lanjing watched him, a sudden surge of anger rising within him.
He sprang to his feet in a flash, pinning Luo Le’s thigh with his foot, restraining his wrist with one hand, and tilting his chin upward with the other.
Forced to look up, Luo Le squinted against the glare of the overhead light, barely able to make out Huo Lanjing’s jawline. The backlighting obscured his expression.
Luo Le tried to wrench his hand free. Just as it began to loosen, Huo Lanjing tightened his grip and pressed it back down.
Luo Le’s body trembled. Remembering the card, he snapped completely, gritting his teeth. Huo Lanjing, what the fvck is wrong with you? Let go of me! I’m done! I’m filing for divorce right now!
Huo Lanjing tilted Luo Le’s chin further upward. The tears welling in his eyes, forced out by the harsh light, shimmered like crystalline highlights, accentuating the depth of his gaze.
His eyes darkened as he stared at Luo Le’s slightly reddened lips. As Luo Le opened his mouth to speak, Huo Lanjing leaned down, swallowing the words before they could be uttered.
Luo Le’s lips were soft, carrying a unique, clean scent that drove Huo Lanjing wild. The hand that had tilted his chin now gripped the back of his neck, pulling him forward.
Huo Lanjing kissed him with a desperate, biting intensity, as if addicted, his kisses both urgent and ruthless, a relentless conquest.
Luo Le couldn’t find a proper rhythm to breathe, nearly fainting from lack of air.
His mind began to drift into a haze when Huo Lanjing suddenly grabbed his hand and pressed it against a certain part of his body. Unlike his kisses, there was no hint of arousal there.
Luo Le’s eyes widened in shock. He forced them open to look up at Huo Lanjing, tears silently sliding down his cheeks as if he were crying.
Huo Lanjing froze, his hand rising to wipe away the tears. But as he lifted it, the words flashed through his mind You’ve fallen in love with me.
His mind exploded. His hand dropped to Luo Le’s slender, pale neck as he leaned down and whispered, Feel that? Kissing you doesn’t even stir me. Love you? Luo Le, are you joking?
Luo Le’s hand was released. He withdrew it and gently pressed the back of his hand against his eyelids.
For some reason, the tears kept flowing, unstoppable.
He switched to using both hands, frantically wiping away the tears. He didn’t want Huo Lanjing to see him like this.
Why are you being so pathetic? What are you crying for, Luo Le? He doesn’t love you. Didn’t you know that all along?
You’re so useless.
Luo Le wiped his tears while turning his head away to hide his face. I’ll file for divorce as soon as we get back. If Huo Lanjing refuses, I’ll sue. With all the evidence I have, I’m sure to win.
He had clung to a sliver of hope before, but Huo Lanjing’s words this time were crystal clear.
If I keep pushing, there’s no turning back.
Something in Huo Lanjing’s heart trembled, and he finally relented. He forcibly pulled Luo Le’s hand away. Luo Le’s face, already soft, now looked utterly pitiful, tears streaming down his cheeks.
Huo Lanjing slowly raised his other hand, curled his index finger, and gently wiped away the tears.
What are you crying for?
His harsh tone carried a hint of barely perceptible tenderness.
Luo Le pushed him away with both hands, but Huo Lanjing clung to him like a stubborn leech, impossible to shake off.
None of your business. Get lost.
Luo Le had always had a terrible temper, but his tone today was already restrained. Yet Luo Le insisted on provoking him the moment he arrived.
If I keep indulging him, he’ll only push further next time.
With this thought, Huo Lanjing slowly rose to his feet, looking down at Luo Le from his superior height. Luo Le, my patience has its limits. Do you really want to do this?
Luo Le immediately stood up, studying the expression on Huo Lanjing’s face. He smiled and slowly approached Huo Lanjing, saying as he walked, Do I really want to do this? What exactly am I doing? Tell me.
By the time he finished speaking, he was standing right in front of Huo Lanjing. Without waiting for a response, Luo Le stomped down hard on Huo Lanjing’s foot.
Luo Le deliberately ground his heel into Huo Lanjing’s foot. Huo Lanjing felt the pain, bit down on the inside of his cheek, and remained motionless.
He fixed his gaze firmly on Luo Le and said in an unchanged tone, Have you calmed down now? Let’s talk.
Calmed down? Did Huo Lanjing really think all his actions were just a tantrum?
Luo Le chuckled. Was Huo Lanjing misunderstanding him, or did he simply not know Huo Lanjing at all?
Fine, you go first.
Huo Lanjing had called Luo Le over today to ask what was wrong, but he hadn’t anticipated the situation spiraling out of control. Continuing the conversation now seemed unwise.
For some reason, he just didn’t want Luo Le to go back.
Do you remember the lizard I brought back?
Seeing that Huo Lanjing had dropped the earlier topic, Luo Le sat down, calmly took a sip of tea, and thought for a moment. The protected lizard?
Huo Lanjing also sat down. Mm.
What about him?
He’s not actually a lizard.
Luo Le froze, struggling to process Huo Lanjing’s words.
Was he human before? How did he end up like this?
Huo Lanjing nodded and then shook his head. We couldn’t get him to talk. We only discovered human genes in his body through testing and behavioral observation over three days.
Luo Le’s hand paused mid-motion. He had always found that lizard strange so there really was something hidden.
After a moment’s thought, he asked, If he was so well-protected before, and now the Zerg have rescued him, he must be very important to them, right?
