- Chapter 6 - The Du Family isn't even worthy of shining my shoes.
There was only one A+ grade, signed by Du Wei.
Fury exploded in Luo Le’s heart.
This was the first time anyone had dared to pull such a stunt in front of him.
His face icy, he strode over to the center of attention, Du Wei, and spoke without reservation
You have much to learn.
The crowd surged forward at these words. What nonsense! You’re telling the creator of an A+ chip to learn? Who do you think you are?
Exactly! Young Master Du created an A+ chip! How many people on Fifth Planet can do that? I bet even the Empire has few who can!
Aren’t you from the Emperor Joy Duo? Oh, don’t tell me you’re just jealous because Young Master Du made an A+ chip while you only got a B+.
Luo Le scoffed, his gaze sweeping past the crowd to land on Du Wei as he answered the taunt
Indeed, A+ chips are rare even in the Empire. I have no objection to the creator of an A+ chip taking first place.
The crowd looked at him in confusion. Then what’s your point?
Du Wei stared into Luo Le’s eyes, suddenly realizing something. His expression turned ugly.
What are you implying? I’m a member of the Du Family. You’d better be prepared to take responsibility for your words.
He emphasized the last three words with particular force.
Luo Le nearly laughed in exasperation. What, are you threatening me?
Du Wei I’m just giving you a reminder.
The others were baffled by Luo Le’s behavior. Didn’t you just say that whoever made an A+ chip would win without question?
Luo Le pointed to the light screen on the display stand. I said that because this chip wasn’t made by him at all.
What nonsense! This chip was clearly made by Young Master Du. We tested them together. How could it be fake?
The host noticed the commotion and approached.
What’s going on here?
Luo Le’s tone was calm. I dispute the test results. I request that the chip be brought to the front for public verification.
Sir, do you have any evidence to support your claim? Remember, you’ll be held accountable for your words.
If the verification results match the previous ones, I’ll take full responsibility.
Luo Le stared resolutely at the host.
Seeing his unwavering stance, the host’s expression turned troubled.
Sir, our results are completely transparent. Could it be that the grade displayed during your chip fabrication process differed from the detected grade? If so, I can explain. The numerical value on the instrument is merely a reference and subject to error.
Luo Le knew the real-time display had some margin of error, but he had never encountered such a significant discrepancy before.
This explanation doesn’t convince me. Please disclose the results after the practical demonstration concludes.
This guy’s a tough nut to crack, the host thought.
In the VIP box, Captain Lin discreetly glanced at the man beside him, whose emotions remained unreadable.
He whispered, Madam seems to be facing some trouble, Admiral. Should we go check on him?
Huo Lanjing didn’t reply, his gaze fixed calmly ahead as if he hadn’t heard a word.
Seeing he wouldn’t get a response, Captain Lin fell silent, wary of provoking the Admiral’s temper. He could only silently pray for Luo Le’s well-being.
I hope that arrogant ancestor on stage will rein in his temper. This isn’t the Empire, after all. And the man beside me doesn’t seem inclined to intervene on his behalf.
Here, the stalemate persisted.
Seeing that gentle persuasion was failing, the host decided to take a hard line.
He leaned in close to Luo Le, but before he could speak, Luo Le dodged away.
Undeterred, the host confirmed the microphone was off and lowered his voice to a level audible only to the two of them. This young man is the sole heir of the Du Family from Fifth Planet. You’ve heard of the Du Clan, right? And Lone Wolf Mecha? Their business spans the entire galaxy. To be honest, this competition is sponsored by the Du Family… Well, I’ve said enough. You should consider your position.
As soon as the words left his mouth, Luo Le, looking genuinely surprised, lowered his voice as well. The Du Family?
Seeing Luo Le’s reaction, the host assumed he had finally understood and was about to nod in agreement.
Instead, Luo Le raised his voice with undisguised contempt. The Du Family? They’re not even worthy of shining my shoes.
Everyone present heard this outrageous statement. They quickly lowered their heads, pretending not to hear, terrified of being caught in the crossfire.
They all knew Luo Le was finished.
The host stared at him, speechless for a long moment.
Du Wei’s face turned ashen. You… who do you think you are? I’ll make sure your entire clan can’t survive in this galaxy!
Luo Le wanted to laugh. Back in the Empire, no one respected him in private, but they still flattered him publicly. This was the first time he had encountered someone so brazen.
He knew the Lone Wolf brand well. Their most famous product was a mecha equipped with an S-Class chip. The arm joints were mediocre at best, failing even the three-ton strength test. Yet, despite having only a thirty-square-meter shop in the Empire, they were being hyped up like this on Fifth Planet.
Just as Luo Le was about to retort, a deep male voice called out, Luo Le.
He turned to see Huo Lanjing.
Today, Huo Lanjing was wearing a perfectly tailored black suit, its sharp lines accentuating his lean physique. Tall and imposing, his face was as cold as a frozen lake.
Luo Le hurried forward with small, eager steps, looping his arm through Huo Lanjing’s. His eyes curved into crescents as he smiled sweetly, a stark contrast to the tense atmosphere moments before.
