After a Disabled Alpha Marked a Yandere Female Lead - Chapter 29
Chapter 29: VIP
The night is thick and dark, and a dry, hot wind blows.
Near the open-air balcony, there’s a huge swimming pool. The blaring music from the speakers makes people’s bodies sway with the rhythm. This is the scene that greets Zhu Qingluo when she comes out. She heard that this is a pool party organized by Li Wusi to strengthen their relationships through a lively celebration.
Not far away, a splash of water soars into the air. “Whoa!” someone shouts, waving a shirt in their hand before throwing it onto the shore. “…” The socialite circle is wild.
Zhu Qingluo doesn’t see any of this because a hand appears in front of her. “You’re going the wrong way,” Jiang Yun says. Zhu Qingluo doesn’t doubt her, but she’s still a little worried. “Are you going to join Li Wusi and them?” she asks.
Jiang Yun lets out a small laugh. “What do you think?”
Zhu Qingluo’s expression is serious. “It’s not a good idea.”
Jiang Yun doesn’t say anything else. She places her hand on Zhu Qingluo’s shoulder and quickly turns the wheelchair around. Zhu Qingluo knows what she means and pushes the wheelchair forward.
“Miss Zhu, are you not comfortable?” Li Wusi, wearing a swimsuit, appears from the side.
Zhu Qingluo stops the wheelchair. “I caught a cold a few days ago, so I can’t get cold. I’m sorry.”
Li Wusi suddenly understands. She doesn’t press the matter and waves her hand. “Alright. I haven’t shown you around yet. I’ll have someone give you a tour.”
Zhu Qingluo nods, understanding the arrangement. She doesn’t want to join the fun, but she also doesn’t want to stop Jiang Yun from enjoying herself with others.
At this moment, a waiter comes over and stops beside her, looking a little hesitant. The air is silent for a second. Zhu Qingluo looks back and sees Jiang Yun looking at her with downcast eyes. Then, Jiang Yun’s hand leaves the back of the wheelchair.
The waiter comes around, takes over her wheelchair, and pushes her forward under the watchful eyes of both women.
“Alright, everyone is taken care of. Shall we go?” Li Wusi wraps her arms around herself and looks at Jiang Yun’s face.
“Thank you,” Jiang Yun says.
On the wet ground, their shadows lengthen and slowly recede.
Meanwhile, the scenery of the manor is so beautiful that Zhu Qingluo can’t take it all in. After half an hour, she doesn’t know where she is. She is surrounded by deep, secluded bushes. A cold night breeze blows, and there is a faint echo. “Where are we?” she asks.
“Oh, right behind the swimming pool.”
Zhu Qingluo looks up and gets a general idea of the building’s structure. The waiter, being considerate, says, “Where would you like to go? I’ll take you.”
Zhu Qingluo gently shakes her head and smiles. “I want to be alone for a while.”
The waiter nods as if he understands. He takes a step back and points to the left. “The lounge is straight ahead. Just go to the end and turn left.” With that, the waiter turns and leaves.
Zhu Qingluo wheels herself around, admiring the flowers and trees. Suddenly, the waiter returns. “Please follow me.”
Zhu Qingluo is confused. She follows the waiter for a few minutes and finds herself back at the swimming pool. The water is calm, and there’s no one else on the shore. Zhu Qingluo passes the lounge chairs one by one and stops behind the last one. She looks at the side of a face and realizes it’s Jiang Yun. Jiang Yun is wearing a robe. Her hair is down, still as smooth and dry as before, without a single drop of water on her.
Zhu Qingluo is puzzled. The party should have been over a long time ago.
“You’re back,” Jiang Yun says in a lazy tone.
“Yes.”
Beside her, Li Wusi is drying her wet hair. “It’s a shame Miss Jiang didn’t get in the water,” she says with a hidden meaning. “I heard you and Xie Ke grew up together. She’s so good at swimming. A good friend should be just as good, right?”
Jiang Yun’s expression is calm. “She and I are different,” she replies.
On her right, Xie Ke is on a lounge chair, looking at her phone. She looks up at Jiang Yun. “Yes, you never play with your friends.”
“What’s the reason?” Li Wusi’s eyes dart around, and she smiles mischievously. “Is it something you can’t talk about?”
Jiang Yun gives her a look and says quietly, “It’s not interesting.” Li Wusi’s attempt to get information fails, and she puts herself in an awkward position.
“Ahem,” Li Wusi says, forcing a smile. “It seems I wasn’t a good host. I didn’t make sure Miss Jiang had a good time tonight.”
The three of them talk for a while, not noticing Zhu Qingluo’s presence. She has been listening for a while. Now that she has a chance to speak, she looks at Jiang Yun. “Did you want to see me?”
Jiang Yun turns her head. The night is dim. The air is cool. Zhu Qingluo’s eyes are calm and pure, shimmering with a clear light. Her cheeks are a healthy, rosy color from the walking she has done. From this angle, she looks a little naive.
Jiang Yun’s heart stirs. “I was worried you would get lost. And I’m right here.”
Her words sound like she cares. Xie Ke and Li Wusi say nothing.
Zhu Qingluo says yes. She feels there is more to it. Maybe she needs to do something else.
Xie Ke is still talking to Li Wusi. Zhu Qingluo looks at Jiang Yun, who seems a little bored. Although she doesn’t know what happened at the party, she feels the whole process must have been uninteresting.
“Do you want to go back and rest?” she asks calmly.
“Yes,” Jiang Yun says, holding a glass of juice.
Zhu Qingluo’s eyes fall on Jiang Yun’s hand. The ring on her ring finger is gone. “Did you take off your ring?” she asks.
“It fell off.”
Zhu Qingluo looks up. “Where did it fall?”
Jiang Yun rests her chin on her hand, her tone a little puzzled. “Yes, where is it?” She then looks at Zhu Qingluo’s face.
Zhu Qingluo is silent for a moment. The way Jiang Yun is looking at her makes it hard to back down. “I’ll help you look for it,” she says.
A smile appears in Jiang Yun’s eyes. “Okay,” she says softly.
