After a Disabled Alpha Marked a Yandere Female Lead - Chapter 32
Chapter 32: VIP
Jiang Yun paused while applying the medicine. She diverted her attention and said, “You were arguing with someone just for this?”
Zhu Qingluo’s eyelashes lowered. In her calm, dark eyes was a hint of faint light. “Because it belongs to Miss Jiang.” The ring itself wasn’t important; its unique value came from belonging to Jiang Yun.
Their eyes met. Jiang Yun looked at Zhu Qingluo’s indifferent expression and detected a stubbornness that made her lips curl slightly. She held a cotton swab between two fingers, her thumb gently brushing Zhu Qingluo’s cheek. After a moment, she finished applying the medicine.
“Do you want to put it on for me now?” Jiang Yun asked.
Zhu Qingluo froze, then nodded. “Okay.”
A beautiful, fair hand was extended toward her. It had a jade-like luster in the dim light. Zhu Qingluo instinctively took it. She looked down, hesitating, unsure which finger the ring belonged on. At that moment, Jiang Yun’s ring finger lifted slightly. Zhu Qingluo looked up and saw Jiang Yun watching her with a calm expression.
“Is there a problem?” the woman asked with a soft laugh.
“No.”
Zhu Qingluo held Jiang Yun’s ring finger with a serious expression, slowly pushing the ring on. She tried her best to ignore the gaze from above. Jiang Yun’s eyes never left her face. Suddenly, she spoke as if by chance, “At a time like this, shouldn’t we do something?”
“Like what?”
“Like at a wedding. After exchanging rings, a couple usually kisses in front of their friends and family.”
Zhu Qingluo suspected she was joking, and her breathing became slightly constricted. “We went through that process back then. It probably didn’t mean anything to you.” She tried to give a perfunctory answer, subtly releasing Jiang Yun’s hand and placing her palm back on the armrest of the wheelchair.
“Back then…” Jiang Yun’s eyes narrowed as she seemed to be recalling the details of the wedding. Since she had viewed the marriage as a mere formality, she hadn’t paid close attention to the process. In her mind, the original Zhu Qingluo was a vague and unclear impression. “Is your opinion of me the same as when we first met?”
Upon hearing this, Zhu Qingluo fell silent. Putting aside the fact that the original owner was gone, her own opinion of Jiang Yun hadn’t changed either. But her silence was easily misinterpreted. The night was hazy, and they were alone in the room. The silence was eerie, and a strange atmosphere grew between them.
Zhu Qingluo saw Jiang Yun reach out, her fingertips touching the collar of her shirt. A voice that was neither a laugh nor a frown said, “What are you thinking now?”
She wanted to deny it, but when she met that gaze—so hot and bright—all her words got stuck in her throat. When she looked up, she saw an enlarged view of Jiang Yun’s face. She could ignore the increased pressure on her collar; all her attention was focused on the woman in front of her. Jiang Yun’s demeanor was unhurried and patient. Her fingertips picked up a strand of hair on Zhu Qingluo’s chest. She lowered her head to take a light sniff, then her phoenix eyes narrowed slightly.
Zhu Qingluo’s gaze froze. She saw the hint of satisfaction and playfulness in Jiang Yun’s expression. Her heart began to beat faster than usual. Jiang Yun seemed to notice. She lifted her eyelids and, seeing Zhu Qingluo’s surprised expression, she let out a triumphant smile. Zhu Qingluo instinctively looked away but stopped midway. Her gaze swept over Jiang Yun’s lips and the slightly upturned curve. For a moment, she had an urge to kiss her. Just as the thought crossed her mind, before she could dismiss it, Jiang Yun retreated, returning to her original position. She had created a safe distance. It was as if all she had done was fix Zhu Qingluo’s hair and had no other intentions.
The air fell silent. “It’s truly beautiful. Thank you so much for helping me find it,” Jiang Yun said. She adjusted her posture, returning to her usual casual demeanor, and held up her hand to admire the ring. In the dim light, the ring’s sparkle was almost blinding.
Zhu Qingluo’s eyelashes lowered, and she slowly clasped her hands together. “It’s what I should have done.” She looked at the sky. It was late, and the moon was high. A few crows were roosting on the treetops. Since the chaos had ended, it was time for them to return to their rooms.
Zhu Qingluo had already informed Li Wusi in advance, using her cold as an excuse to get a separate room. She felt this was a good idea, as there was no way Jiang Yun would share a bed with someone else. They were walking down a hallway when Jiang Yun suddenly stopped. “Li Wusi agreed?” she asked, her expression a little strange.
“Yes.”
“What else did she tell you?”
Zhu Qingluo looked at her for a moment and said quietly, “Nothing else.”
In truth, Li Wusi had mentioned that Jiang Yun was a light sleeper, had a bad temper, and would not have been able to get a good night’s rest. However, Jiang Yun showed no signs of suspicion. Zhu Qingluo thought that either her acting had improved, or Jiang Yun was too tired to notice. In any case, she didn’t probe further.
Zhu Qingluo said goodbye to her midway and entered her room. She watched Jiang Yun’s figure gradually disappear down the hallway. The rest of the night was uneventful.
The next morning, Zhu Qingluo came out of her room. The sunlight poured into the spacious, lush green courtyard, which was calm and peaceful. She breathed in the fresh air, feeling re-energized, and planned to exercise outside.
Meanwhile, Xie Ke had woken up early and was dressed impeccably. She came from a corridor on the left and turned into the main one. She was startled to see Zhu Qingluo coming out of her room. Xie Ke looked closely. Although the door was only a few meters away from Jiang Yun’s, it was indeed a different room. Her heart fluttered as if she had discovered a huge secret. With a testing attitude, Xie Ke deliberately walked forward, her footsteps becoming clear.
Hearing the sound, Zhu Qingluo turned her head. She was a little surprised to see who it was. “Good morning, Miss Zhu,” Xie Ke said.
Zhu Qingluo’s tone was gentle. “Good morning.”
The smile on Xie Ke’s face faded. She glanced at the door Zhu Qingluo had just exited and feigned surprise. “You two don’t sleep in the same room?”
Zhu Qingluo’s expression was hesitant. Seeing this, Xie Ke’s heart stirred. She felt like she had already found the answer, and a flicker of hope reignited. “Then, since you got married, you and A-Yun have never…”
“Last night was an exception,” Zhu Qingluo said with a slight sigh.
Xie Ke’s face froze. The fire in her heart felt like it had been extinguished by a bucket of cold water. “What do you mean?” she asked, forcing a smile, unwilling to give up.
Zhu Qingluo was silent for a moment. She gave a light cough and explained why they had separate rooms. “If I hadn’t suddenly caught a cold, I would have been worried about infecting Miss Jiang. We usually talk about life goals before bed, and if I can’t sleep, she’ll comfort me. So, during the sensitive period, we…”
As she spoke, Xie Ke’s face grew darker and darker. For a long time, she couldn’t say a single word. Zhu Qingluo’s voice stopped abruptly. This was because she noticed Xie Ke’s gaze shift, suddenly looking behind her. A sense of unease settled in Zhu Qingluo’s heart. She turned around and saw Jiang Yun walking toward them.
