After a Disabled Alpha Marked a Yandere Female Lead - Chapter 34
Chapter 34: VIP
“If there’s nothing else, I’m heading back.”
Zhu Qingluo’s expression was cold; she didn’t want to listen to Li Wusi’s nonsense. Seeing that Zhu Qingluo was angry, Li Wusi’s smile faded. She straightened her face and wisely took a step back. “There is. Please, listen to me.” Li Wusi rubbed her chin, changing the subject. “I have a lot of friends who also love your design work.”
Zhu Qingluo, who was about to leave, stopped her wheelchair upon hearing this. Seeing her reaction, Li Wusi’s eyes flashed. She had clearly hit on something Zhu Qingluo cared about.
“As far as I know, these people have great potential and can become a stable source of clients. Even if you don’t care about money, you must want to build your reputation, right? How about a small collaboration? It’ll be mutually beneficial.” Li Wusi walked up to her again, lowering her voice. “I promise I won’t tell Miss Jiang.”
The last sentence was a clear insinuation. Zhu Qingluo’s expression remained neutral. Was Li Wusi really so kind as to introduce her to “clients,” or did she have an ulterior motive? Just then, Li Wusi’s phone rang. She glanced at the screen and said to Zhu Qingluo, “It’s fine, you can go back and think about it.”
Zhu Qingluo nodded slightly. She watched Li Wusi turn and walk away, her voice fading. She turned her attention back to her wheelchair and began to move, intending to return to her room. It was quiet all around. An occasional waiter passed by as Zhu Qingluo went through a hallway. She was lost in thought and didn’t notice someone appeared. She almost ran into them.
“I’m sorry, I…” Zhu Qingluo stopped the wheelchair and looked up. Jiang Yun stood in front of her, her arms at her sides, a phone in her hand. She frowned at Zhu Qingluo. “What are you thinking about?”
A cold aura emanated from Jiang Yun, and Zhu Qingluo felt a sudden, inexplicable pressure. She composed herself and replied, “I was just spaced out. I didn’t see it was you.”
Jiang Yun continued to stare at her. The sunlight didn’t reach this part of the hallway, casting a shadow. Jiang Yun’s gaze was subtle, with a hint of an almost imperceptible sharpness. It was a little unnerving. “It’s dangerous to be absent-minded when you’re on your own.”
Was she telling her to be careful? Zhu Qingluo’s eyelashes lowered. “I know. I’ll be more careful from now on.”
Jiang Yun’s expression softened slightly. “Miss Jiang, why are you here?” Zhu Qingluo asked, changing the subject.
“Looking for you.”
Zhu Qingluo’s wheelchair stopped for a moment, then continued forward. She couldn’t help but glance at the woman beside her. If Jiang Yun had been looking for her, she might have seen Li Wusi as well. “You have something you want to say to me.” This wasn’t a question but a statement.
Jiang Yun’s gaze shifted to Zhu Qingluo’s eyes, a playful look in her expression. Zhu Qingluo observed her for a while, seeing no difference from her usual self. After a moment of thought, she said, “There is something… I’m sorry, what I said this morning was intentional, to prevent Xie Ke from getting suspicious.”
Jiang Yun’s gaze dropped to Zhu Qingluo’s eyes, which seemed to be clouded by a hazy fog. She was more willing to lie to her face than to be honest. Her eyes narrowed slightly, and her voice dropped to a whisper as she pressed on, “That’s it?”
Zhu Qingluo thought seriously, wondering if there was anything else she had missed since yesterday. But she couldn’t think of anything. Jiang Yun stared at her, then suddenly smiled. “No need to apologize.”
Zhu Qingluo felt there was a hidden meaning in her words, but she couldn’t figure it out. At that moment, a cold breeze blew by. She couldn’t help but shiver and moved her wheelchair to the side, to avoid being caught in Jiang Yun’s cold aura. “Miss Jiang, are you really okay?” Zhu Qingluo asked, still a bit hesitant.
“Yes.” Jiang Yun walked in front of her, her back tall and cold. Since Jiang Yun wasn’t bothering her, Zhu Qingluo figured she should be smart and keep her distance. With that thought, she subconsciously slowed down her wheelchair, gradually creating a distance between them. Jiang Yun didn’t seem to notice. A while later, Jiang Yun stopped and turned around. There was no one behind her, only a leaf floating down.
It wasn’t until lunchtime that Zhu Qingluo saw Jiang Yun again. She sat down next to her and looked around. The lunch rush was over, so it was just the two of them and the occasional waiter. The sun was shining brightly, and outside the glass window, some green plants swayed gently in the breeze.
Zhu Qingluo sat for a while, finding the air too quiet. She kept glancing at the woman beside her. Her gaze was perhaps too obvious. Jiang Yun raised her eyelids and looked at her, silently asking what she wanted. Zhu Qingluo instantly understood and asked straightforwardly, “Besides Xie Ke, what’s your relationship with Li Wusi?” Based on their interactions, she assumed they were on good terms.
Jiang Yun closed her magazine. She was also pondering this question. After a moment, she replied, “She’s very anxious right now, trying to cover up past mistakes, and she sees me as one of the reasons for her obstacles.”
Zhu Qingluo vaguely understood. Since Li Wusi was introduced by Xie Ke, her relationship with Jiang Yun was likely not simple. She summarized her thoughts and asked the question that mattered to her. “You two have had a falling out. Do you want to fix things with her?”
With that, Zhu Qingluo turned her head, carefully observing Jiang Yun’s expression. In the soft golden sunlight, the woman’s profile was exquisite and sharp. Her nose was high, and her thick eyelashes cast a shadow like a butterfly’s wings. She hid the fierceness in her eyes and curled her lips slightly. “If it’s possible.” Her words clearly showed that she hoped to.
The weight in Zhu Qingluo’s heart was lifted. She was lost in thought. If Jiang Yun and Li Wusi’s relationship could be mended, then it wouldn’t be a problem for her to approach Li Wusi for business. “Why are you suddenly asking about this?” Jiang Yun’s tone was casual.
Just then, the waiter brought over a steaming hot meal. Zhu Qingluo’s gaze fell on the table. “I want to get to know you better,” she replied.
After the meal, the sun was at its peak. The edges of the hanging leaves outside the window had a hint of yellow. It was quiet, and the air was hot. Zhu Qingluo sat for a while, feeling a growing sense of fatigue. At that moment, a waiter came up to her, bowed slightly, and said, “Miss Li has asked for you.”
Zhu Qingluo nodded slightly. As she was about to leave, she suddenly felt a gaze from her side. She turned her head and met Jiang Yun’s eyes. A strange feeling crept into Zhu Qingluo’s heart, but she maintained her composure. “I’ll be back in a little while,” she said.
Jiang Yun didn’t respond. Her gaze seemed to have a viscous quality, forcing Zhu Qingluo’s attention. Zhu Qingluo felt like she couldn’t look away. As she was lost in a daze, the waiter came up behind her, assuming she needed help, but Zhu Qingluo politely declined. The waiter stepped aside, making a “please” gesture.
Zhu Qingluo turned away, no longer looking at Jiang Yun. One side of her face, the one that had been stared at, felt a little numb, and a chill ran down her spine. Zhu Qingluo slowly moved her wheelchair, keeping her own pace, and followed the waiter out.
