After a Disabled Alpha Marked a Yandere Female Lead - Chapter 35
Chapter 35: VIP
A while later, the restaurant was empty. Jiang Yun sat alone, staying in her seat for a long time. She put down her fork and knife, looked straight ahead, and her expression returned to normal in an instant. The empty seat beside her was suddenly occupied by another person. Xie Ke wrapped her arms around herself, waited for a moment, and said, “The person you claim to think so highly of may not be satisfied with everything she currently has.”
Jiang Yun didn’t react much to her presence. “She has a lot of ideas,” she said, her eyes narrowing meaningfully. Xie Ke was used to this kind of interaction, as if she were talking to herself. She nodded and continued, “She says sweet things to get your attention, but it’s really to help herself and the Zhu family get what they want.”
Clank!
A glass on the table shattered. Xie Ke’s expression was shocked, and her words came to an abrupt halt. Jiang Yun leaned against the back of her chair, leisurely wiping her palm with a handkerchief as if it were just a small accident. “You…” Xie Ke looked at her face, a little hesitant.
“I understand,” Jiang Yun said with a soft laugh.
Xie Ke was stunned for a moment, not delving into whether her “understanding” was based on the information she had given or if it had a deeper meaning. However, she was certain of one thing: Jiang Yun was angry. Xie Ke smiled as well, ignoring the small accident. “The future of the Jiang family is still on your shoulders. No one can ruin everything. I believe you can do it.” She adopted a supportive stance, subtly criticizing Zhu Qingluo.
Jiang Yun’s expression was noncommittal. At this point, Xie Ke felt completely at ease. Her relationship with Jiang Yun hadn’t changed; it was just as solid as it had been for years.
…
Half an hour later, Zhu Qingluo returned and saw Jiang Yun right away, sitting alone on a wicker chair outside. In the sunlight, she looked relaxed and comfortable, bathed in a gentle halo of light that gave her an exceptionally serene and beautiful aura, different from everything else. In the lush grass nearby, ornamental flowers bloomed, with one or two pink and yellow butterflies fluttering around.
Seeing this, Zhu Qingluo’s movements became lighter. Even so, she caught Jiang Yun’s attention when she was halfway there. Jiang Yun looked over at her. After a moment, she took the initiative to ask, “Did your conversation go well? Did you get everything done?”
Zhu Qingluo paused. The words felt a little odd. Out of caution, she chose her words carefully. “It was a normal negotiation, which is why it took a little longer.” Jiang Yun pondered for a moment and understood. It was a success. But it also meant that they hadn’t done anything but business.
“Then I should congratulate you.”
Zhu Qingluo felt like she had a thousand needles in her back. The sunlight wasn’t strong, but it seemed to become especially “blinding” on the woman in front of her. She couldn’t figure out Jiang Yun’s attitude, so she didn’t speak carelessly. Zhu Qingluo slowly moved to her side.
The area became silent. After a while, Zhu Qingluo changed the subject. “I have some work to do. I might not be coming home for the next few days, but if you need me, you can call me.” The batch of orders from Li Wusi needed to be given to her studio, and she had to oversee the process to prevent any quality issues. As she spoke, she watched Jiang Yun’s expression.
In the past, Jiang Yun would have refused immediately, but this time she turned her head and stared at Zhu Qingluo for a moment. “Are you trying to leave the Jiang family?”
The question was not wrong. Zhu Qingluo lowered her eyelashes and didn’t deny it. Jiang Yun’s gaze fell on the ends of Zhu Qingluo’s hair in front of her. Her thumb instinctively rubbed slightly, and the smile on her face held a hint of sarcasm. “Because you have Li Wusi, you don’t need anyone else.”
Upon hearing this, Zhu Qingluo felt even stranger. She looked at the woman in front of her in surprise; there was no smile in her eyes. Zhu Qingluo’s heart suddenly trembled as she looked at her for a moment. Was this… jealousy? The thought instantly crossed her mind.
“Have you considered why she would choose you when she has no shortage of talent? And a ‘collaboration’ with no strings attached?” As soon as she said this, Zhu Qingluo secretly breathed a sigh of relief. So she was just worried that Li Wusi had bad intentions.
“She really didn’t mention any conditions,” Zhu Qingluo said, not trying to hide anything. She told Jiang Yun about the content of the collaboration and ended by emphasizing, “But I checked, and the contract is fine.”
The air fell silent.
Zhu Qingluo added, “I also thought that to you…”
“So your intention was for ‘me’?” In the next instant, Jiang Yun grabbed her by the collar. Zhu Qingluo quickly gripped the handles of her wheelchair to stay steady. As she was pulled forward, her eyes were wide with a stunned expression. “Good. You’re not going anywhere.” A ripple of light passed through Jiang Yun’s eyes, hiding a predatory, possessive, and determined look.
“…” Jiang Yun then let go of her and got up from the chair. Zhu Qingluo stayed there, thinking for a while. She looked down, smoothed the wrinkles on her collar, sighed, and slowly followed Jiang Yun’s retreating figure.
A few hours later, she truly understood the “lethality” of those words.
…
That night, Zhu Qingluo didn’t see Jiang Yun, so she went back to her own room, only to find the door locked. She couldn’t find anyone nearby to help. She looked at the sky. It was too late to disturb Li Wusi again, so after thinking for a moment, she wheeled herself over to another door.
After she knocked, the door opened from the inside. Zhu Qingluo was a little surprised. It was as if Jiang Yun had been waiting for her. She collected her thoughts and wheeled herself in. Hearing what happened, Jiang Yun’s expression was a little surprised. After a moment of thought, she said, “So you’ve come to ask for my help?”
Jiang Yun had already changed into her pajamas. She leaned against the door frame, sizing Zhu Qingluo up with a meaningful tone. Zhu Qingluo met her gaze, and a strange feeling rose in her heart. She pressed her palms against the armrests, ready to turn around. “If it’s too much trouble, I’ll find another way.”
“Find what?”
Suddenly, the back of her wheelchair was grabbed. Jiang Yun looked at Zhu Qingluo’s back. Under the shirt, she could vaguely see the lines of her shoulders, which were both delicate and strong. Over the past few days, Zhu Qingluo had gained a little weight. She looked well-proportioned, with no sign of her previous illness.
Just as Jiang Yun was secretly observing her, Zhu Qingluo looked up, puzzled. Jiang Yun’s eyes narrowed slightly, and she curved her lips into a perfect smile. “I heard that this afternoon, the staff was searching everywhere and closed off a few empty rooms. Maybe in their rush, they accidentally took your room key.”
Upon hearing this, Zhu Qingluo thought for a moment. It was possible, and since she had been out all afternoon, she wouldn’t have known. Realizing her situation, she felt worried. Suddenly, Jiang Yun naturally withdrew her hand, put it behind her back, as if she didn’t intend to interfere.
Thinking about what happened during the day, Zhu Qingluo felt that Jiang Yun was still angry. This was not a good sign for her. As Jiang Yun turned around, she stared at her without blinking. Jiang Yun seemed to notice and turned her head to look. Zhu Qingluo couldn’t help but look away, feeling a little guilty.
Jiang Yun’s eyes glinted, and she put on a triumphant smile. “You can sleep here.” With that, she stopped talking and walked into the bedroom. Zhu Qingluo was surprised at first and hesitated, but a moment later, she followed her in. She glanced at the couch and decided it was a good size for her. She could spend the night there.
When Jiang Yun walked into the bedroom, she didn’t hear any movement behind her, so she stopped and went out to check. She saw Zhu Qingluo next to the couch, tidying up a blanket. Jiang Yun frowned. “What are you doing?”
Zhu Qingluo folded the blanket, smoothing out a crease with her palm. When she heard the question, her movements stopped. “Sleeping.”
“Who said you could sleep out here? Come in.”
Zhu Qingluo hesitated. “Isn’t this a bit much?” Jiang Yun had been acting too normal these past few days, but Zhu Qingluo hadn’t forgotten their relationship, or what Jiang Yun had done not long ago. She was anything but peaceful. Tonight would probably not be quiet.
“I suddenly remembered something else…” Zhu Qingluo clasped her hands together and lied without a hint of red on her face, deciding to get out of there first. She turned her wheelchair around, but then she heard a voice from the bedroom, “If you leave, don’t come back.” The threat was clear.
Zhu Qingluo wheeled herself back, looked at the bedroom door, and resignedly moved slowly inside. Jiang Yun was sitting on the edge of the bed. The warm light from the lamp made her face softer. She looked at the source of light in front of her. Noticing Zhu Qingluo’s presence, she wore a playful expression and asked casually, “Not busy anymore?”
Zhu Qingluo’s face remained impassive. She looked at Jiang Yun’s profile for a moment and said quietly, “It’s not that important.” She glanced at the bed out of the corner of her eye. It wasn’t small; there was more than enough room for two people. Jiang Yun acted as if she hadn’t seen it.
After that, Zhu Qingluo didn’t try to run away again. Jiang Yun wanted to have a drink and invited her to join, but she politely declined. Jiang Yun didn’t insist and went out of the bedroom by herself. The time seemed to stretch on because Zhu Qingluo had already finished washing up and had nothing else to do, so she decided to go to bed first. Jiang Yun still hadn’t returned by the time she got into bed.
Zhu Qingluo was under the covers. The air was filled with Jiang Yun’s scent, and she was still a little unaccustomed to it. But the smell was pleasant and reminded her of her life at the Jiang family’s home. A strange sense of relaxation washed over her, and her mind began to soften. She slowly felt herself getting tired.
Suddenly, just before she fell asleep, she felt the mattress next to her sink. A warm object with a cool scent was moving closer to her. Zhu Qingluo instantly woke up but kept her eyes closed, her fingers unconsciously clutching the corner of the quilt. Because of Jiang Yun’s presence, her senses became clearer. She was a little surprised because the scent of alcohol on her was very faint. Jiang Yun wasn’t drunk.
As the thought crossed her mind, a powerful gaze fell upon her face. A hot, sticky, and damp gaze was openly studying her face from the side of the bed. Zhu Qingluo knew for sure that Jiang Yun’s face was very close to hers, but her purpose was unknown. The stare was unnerving, and a chill ran down her neck. She unconsciously held her breath.
