After a Disabled Alpha Marked a Yandere Female Lead - Chapter 4
Chapter 4
The next morning, the weather was warm and sunny.
When Zhu Qingluo saw Jiang Yun again, her expression was normal, as if she hadn’t seen her last night at all.
Feeling confused, she couldn’t help but look at her a few more times.
Jiang Yun was sitting on the sofa, a mug held in her fair hand. As she lowered her gaze, she seemed to sense something and looked up.
A bad feeling arose within Zhu Qingluo.
Jiang Yun paused in the act of drinking her coffee and placed the mug back on the table.
“What are you looking at?” she said, her smile seemingly harmless.
Zhu Qingluo’s expression didn’t change. “The ring.”
Jiang Yun was slightly surprised and raised her left hand, on her index finger was a turquoise ring.
Its indigo color shimmered under the sunlight. It seemed to neutralize the owner’s aura, making her aggression seem more contained, adding a touch of elegance and nobility.
Jiang Yun flipped her palm up, her slender fingers slightly curled.
Seeing this, Zhu Qingluo looked at the other person’s smile, hesitated slightly, and then slowly moved her wheelchair over.
When she was in front of her, Jiang Yun leaned forward slightly, studied her for a moment, and then placed her left hand in front of her, asking in a soft voice, “Do you like it?”
Zhu Qingluo’s gaze fell on the ring. Because of her profession, she had a natural love for jewelry.
This ring was especially exquisite and one-of-a-kind.
“I like it.”
Her eyes showed a clear appreciation as she answered truthfully.
Jiang Yun caught this emotion, and her eyes changed slightly. She then took off the turquoise ring and held it out in front of her.
“Here, take it.”
Zhu Qingluo didn’t move immediately and just looked at her for a while.
The air was silent for a moment.
Jiang Yun raised her brows, and her smile faded slightly. “You don’t want it?”
At this moment, if Zhu Qingluo didn’t take it, she would be contradicting herself and making the other person unhappy.
How generous, she couldn’t help but think.
Perhaps it was her imagination, but the woman in front of her seemed even more beautiful.
“Thank you…”
The next second, she reached out to take it. However, a playful look appeared in Jiang Yun’s eyes, and she unexpectedly let go of her fingers.
The ring fell from mid-air, its sparkle fleeting.
Zhu Qingluo’s heart skipped a beat, and she quickly bent down to catch it with both hands.
Her wheelchair wobbled a few times, making a cracking sound. She almost fell out of it.
Zhu Qingluo’s face paled, and she barely managed to steady herself.
However, the woman in front of her had already stood up, looking down at her, her smile malicious and tinged with a hint of sarcasm.
Zhu Qingluo felt that if she had actually fallen, the other person would have laughed even harder.
After the tense moment, Zhu Qingluo’s breathing was unsteady. A flicker of anger rose within her as she realized she had been played again.
She clenched her palm. The ring dug into her hand, hurting a little. She said, “Ms. Jiang, jokes should be made in moderation. I can’t accept this ring. Please take it back.”
The air instantly froze.
The cold aura around Zhu Qingluo spread to Jiang Yun’s side, but Jiang Yun easily dispelled it. Her eyes, instead, held a flicker of interest.
“You look a little cute when you’re angry.”
“…”
Zhu Qingluo didn’t feel like she was being complimented.
She placed the ring on the table and was about to pull her hand back when she suddenly heard Jiang Yun say, “Who said you could leave?”
Zhu Qingluo’s hand froze in mid-air. The next moment, Jiang Yun grabbed her wrist, the force unyielding.
She could have struggled free, but she didn’t.
Jiang Yun pulled her hand closer. She lowered her eyes, and her slightly cool fingertips stroked the back of her hand, as if comforting a little cat that had suddenly gotten angry halfway through being played with.
Zhu Qingluo frowned slightly, her eyes on the enchanting features of Jiang Yun’s face.
From an angle Jiang Yun couldn’t see, her expression remained calm. She wasn’t truly bothered and was beginning to understand something.
Jiang Yun’s fingertips followed the back of her hand, all the way to her middle knuckle.
She seemed to recall a memory, her movements freezing for a moment. Zhu Qingluo’s fingertips, perhaps holding some related memory, unconsciously curled.
The next moment, Jiang Yun slowly slid the turquoise ring onto her slender finger.
Her movements were careful and deliberate.
No one spoke, and the atmosphere was ambiguous.
When Jiang Yun thought about the marking again, her mood subtly shifted. She couldn’t help but look up at Zhu Qingluo.
The other person’s eyes were slightly closed, and she remained silent.
At this moment, Jiang Yun felt a little pleased. She smiled at her and said, “Be good, don’t be angry.”
Regardless of whether Zhu Qingluo was angry or not, the other person’s attitude was clear.
After saying this, Jiang Yun returned to the sofa, drank her coffee, and went back to her own business.
It was quiet and empty all around them.
Zhu Qingluo looked down at the ring, lost in thought.
Jiang Yun was treating her like a “pet,” like a new kitten or puppy that she found endlessly fascinating. The benefits she received were only because she was obedient.
Later, Zhu Qingluo took the ring and looked up some information about it, only to be disappointed.
Its value was indeed high, but it belonged to Jiang Yun. She could only sell it with her permission.
So, she gave up the idea and put it in her jewelry box.
Over the past two days, Zhu Qingluo had been bombarded with text messages from her father, mother, and sister from the Zhu family. They started with a bunch of greetings, but the real intention was revealed at the end: they wanted her to send money home.
She didn’t pay any attention to them and was thinking about Jiang Yun.
Based on her observations, Jiang Yun likely knew about the Zhu family’s predicament but, for some reason, hadn’t fulfilled her promise on time.
Just as she couldn’t figure it out, she stumbled upon another “secret.”
In the evening, the sun was setting.
As Zhu Qingluo passed by the study, she heard some noise and instinctively slowed her wheelchair.
There were voices talking inside.
“You make your own decisions. Why ask me?”
Jiang Yun’s voice was lazy and casual, as if she was on the phone with someone.
“Xuan Xia, business dealings are all about personal ability. Are you saying that the Zhu family is my relative…”
Jiang Yun laughed softly, the meaning unclear.
When she heard the last part, Zhu Qingluo stopped and looked into the room.
The crystal chandelier cast a cold light. The woman was leaning against the desk, her figure slender. She held a landline phone, and her black hair was as thick as seaweed.
The lines of her profile were elegant and defined, and her crimson lips had a captivating curve.
Zhu Qingluo held her breath, growing more and more surprised the more she listened.
She had seen the name Xuan Xia in the text messages. Wasn’t he the Zhu family’s long-time business rival, the person her father cursed every day?
She heard that it was this person who had caused trouble for the Zhu family and was now tenaciously hounding them.
However, from Jiang Yun’s tone, her relationship with him was not bad. At the very least, they were business partners.
“I’m not targeting anyone. I’m just acting in my own best interest. Don’t forget, the contract won’t officially take effect for another month.”
“…”
Zhu Qingluo thought to herself that it was hard to say whether the Zhu family could last another month.
It was at this point that she realized how treacherous her father’s phone call was.
If she helped the Zhu family get the money, Jiang Yun would undoubtedly suffer a loss. If she didn’t, the Zhu family wouldn’t let it go.
It was a tricky situation, no matter what she did.
Just as she was feeling conflicted, she saw Jiang Yun hang up the phone and walk toward the safe.
The other person put a document inside.
The password was…
Two hours later.
Jiang Yun came down from the second floor, wearing a simple checkered suit skirt. The tapping of her high heels on the steps made a muffled, rhythmic sound.
Zhu Qingluo was drinking tea and only reacted a moment later.
At the sound, she looked up, her gaze falling on the woman’s long, beautiful neck, adorned with a pearl necklace.
As Jiang Yun passed her, she paused and reached out to stroke her head.
It was soft and felt very nice.
Jiang Yun’s phoenix eyes narrowed slightly, her red lips curving into a smile. “I might not be back tonight. Go to bed early.”
“Okay,” Zhu Qingluo said.
Then, she felt the hand on her head withdraw, as if it had just grazed her.
She slowly put down her teacup and watched the woman’s back disappear out the door.
Not long after, she heard a car start and drive away, and then the silence returned.
The night was still long, and the key was that she was the only one in the house.
This was a rare and good opportunity.
Late at night, Zhu Qingluo came out of her room. The Jiang house was dark and silent. She took the elevator to the second floor.
She arrived at the study door again and, without hesitation, wheeled herself inside.
The light illuminated the room, revealing every corner. There were bookshelves on both sides, a window on the left, and a safe next to the desk.
Her gaze lingered for a moment, thinking about what Jiang Yun had put inside.
The value of confidential documents was self-evident.
…
The night was as thick as ink, and the starlight was dim.
A Rolls-Royce was parked near the Jiang family villa. It had been there for a long time, as if it had melted into the darkness.
The car window was half-down, and the woman inside was leaning against the seat.
In the dim light, her pearl necklace was still soft and lustrous, emitting a gentle glow.
Her breathing was even, and she habitually ran her fingers over her index knuckle, but they found nothing.
Suddenly, Jiang Yun opened her eyes. She had forgotten that she wasn’t wearing her gem ring today.
“Ms. Jiang, how much longer are we waiting?” The driver, who looked to be in his early thirties with thick eyebrows, couldn’t help but ask, confused, as he looked into the rearview mirror.
In fact, Jiang Yun had already returned but hadn’t had the driver pull into the garage.
About forty minutes had passed.
Jiang Yun’s expression was unreadable. Her gaze was fixed on a tablet screen.
The driver thought she was chatting with someone and obediently kept quiet, waiting in the front.
However, Jiang Yun often switched between windows.
A few minutes later, she opened another remote window. A smile appeared in her eyes, and she said in a low voice, “She’s here.”
The screen showed the inside of the Jiang family’s study.
The dark room suddenly lit up as someone turned on the lights, becoming as bright as day.
At the same time, it also illuminated the person at the door.
Jiang Yun’s eyes froze, and a cold aura leaked out. She watched the person emerge from the darkness, the outline of their clothes gradually becoming clear.
Her gaze fell on the face and didn’t move for a long time. She watched as Zhu Qingluo wheeled herself in.
At this moment, Jiang Yun was not surprised.
When she was on the phone in the study, she knew Zhu Qingluo was eavesdropping.
She didn’t expose her and just went with it, so everything she said on the phone was true.
Sure enough, Zhu Qingluo gave her a “surprise.”
